I try to remember just how many truly good people are on our planet. It helps to remember this. Let's hope that our better angels rise up to give Earth the triage she needs.

I love the way Jabulani reacts when Khanyisa stumbles, and he and the other elephants immediately move to protect and help her! They are wonderful! Excellent parents for Khanyisa! 💕

I feel lucky to be like a little fly on the wall in Khanyisa's life. How sweet these gentle giants who were once all strangers blossomed into a beautiful family. They are so wise. Thank you for allowing us to experience sweet serenity through your videos.

It appears that the big elephants are doing their own thing, not paying attention, then the second something happens to baby, they all scramble to baby, they actually don't miss anything

The protective circle that they made around Khanyisa was heart touching! Elephants are highly intelligent and sensitive creatures! This is my favorite part of Khanyisa morning with her new family 🐘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

@@herdelephantorphanage I am fascinated with how the herd goes to protect her. I've noticed how they surround her but some of the elephants turn outward from the circle to "keep guard" as if they are watching for intruders.

the herd takes Khanyisa's wellbeing very serious

She's really got such a great gift for being a happy little elephant. Khanyisa is in love with life, and life is in love with her. So sweet. Adine and the team does such a wonderful job at HERD!

This is fascinating ! Every day, the first thing I do when I open my computer, is to go watch Khanyisa and the herd ! Their wisdom is hypnotic! I like the enthusiasm of Limpopo ! It's funny (and sometimes scary) to see Timisa so jealous !! Thank you for sharing!

I’m constantly saying awwww!! Khanyisa looks so tiny. The elephants surrounding her when she stumbled got a huge “awwww!” from me 🥰🥰🥰

The way they surrounded Khanyisa when she stumbled, brought tears to my eyes 😢 Their concern for the the little one is so heart wrenching 💖💕💕

Possessiveness of Limpopo a bit scary... Challenging 'Khanyisa is mine!' a bit heartstopping for me... 🙏Anything could happen as I listened/noted Adine and Carers talk move into closer position... To maybe? Firmly remind Limpopo ' PLAY NICELY🙃❣️❣️❣️' I salute you ALL from the bottom of my heart. Your COURAGE to love & care sooo DEEPLY despite the personal danger it holds is holy ground. The most powerful creatures on the planet. The most terrifying thing I've seen is an elephant in full-blown rage. That this is so very rare, that their preferred state of being is calm, almost meditative it would seem, is such a testament to the essential character of their species. They are wonderful. To have power, and choose not to use it (when not absolutely necessary); is that not the greatest possible morality?

Watching the part where my baby stumbles (beautiful response from the herd), I have never seen a herd respond with so many ears spread out like that before. Lol, to me, it’s like they all said who do I have to hurt!! Especially Jabulani! He gave us the head shake, ears out and the revers steps!! I just love elephants!!!

Yes, I totally agree, it's so cute and so heart warming when the herd waits for Little Khanyisa, I love how she runs up to her family, and how loving and concern when little Khanyisa stumbles, the herd all make sure she's ok, gosh that's soooooo sweet...Adine and carers a big thank you for loving them and caring for them, you are such beautiful hearted people, and God is watching you all with love in his eyes...

I use to live in a commune 50 yrs ago, and had many 'mothers' watching out for me. These elephants and their compassion for this a little orphan is so heartwarming and right...kids raised in communities like this turn out great! I felt lucky after living with people who loved me dearly even if we weren't blood related! Khanyisa is one lucky little girl!

Can that little girl feel any safer with all of those giants protecting her? I’m so happy for her. She’s brought a lot to their lives, too. If you think about it, elephant herds in the wild produce babies on a regular basis, so a lot of their lives revolve around little ones. Khanyisa’s presence brings that degree of normalcy for the Jabulani herd.

I have been following the story about Khanyisa. Kudos to Adine and her team for doing what they do. It is truly heartwarming.

Time continues to pass but up to this date, seeing Khanyisa’s running towards the herd puts a big smile in my face. She’s a determined and delightful little girl 💗🌸🐘

Good Morning! So beautiful to see Khanyisa run to her herd ! A question ~ Khanyisa suckles the females, but are they producing milk? It's known in humans that once a Mother has had a child, she may begin lactating later on, even with an unrelated child, if she is very persistent to nurse. Do elephants do this ? I love how the herd gathers around Khanyisa to protect her, but she just walks under everyone's "roof" bellies or leg "pillars" to play or walk away ~ hillarious ! She's SO expressive !

Morning Jody! It is a good question. So her suckling is purely for tactile comfort, and a natural instinct to do so. It is not part of our objectives to breed with the herd, so they are on contraception for that reason, which means they won't be able to lactate. But it is still great emotional comfort for Khanyisa. :-)

I love Khanyisa and the whole herd. Love to watch her video's. Mainly because you show close up's of trunks and tails. God bless all of you for taking such care of all the elephant's and showing Khanyisa how to be a part of a herd.

Watching this 12/22 and can't believe how tiny Khanyisa was - and how dear the herd energy is towards her. Bubi has a place in my heart for the sorrow she's endured. May time and love move to heal her. ♡♡♡

It seems that even if Adine and the carers wanted to get in there to see if Khanyisa was ok after her stumble, there was no way that Ellie circle was going to let anyone in! She was immediately surrounded by all of her protectors. How loving and sweet that she is that ingrained in their family network now. xx

Seeing this again about 3 years later - marveling at how small baby Khanyisa was, at the joy and care of the other elephants. One of the best HERD videos, to be sure. Klaserie inspecting every inch of the tiny girl....they’re just mad for her!
