Men's Timber Carry - Event 5 | Full Live Stream | 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic

Спорт

Complete coverage of the Men's Timber Carry, the fifth and final event of the 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic in Columbus, Ohio (March 4, 2023). In a time limit of 30 seconds, the competitors must move the heavyweight frame implement to the top of the ramp, relying on extreme grip strength and whatever they have left in their back and legs.
Mateusz Kieliszkowski has his sights on a third event win, but as Mitchell Hooper has calculated from the outset, a consistently good performance in a competition like this goes further than intermittently great performances. If Hooper can merely complete the challenge, a first Arnold Strongman Classic title is within the confident Canadian's reach.

As much as I like to see these events, the judging is terrible with rules being enforced so inconsistently. No athlete got punished for sliding the carry up the ramp. The lock-out on those deadlifts has been a joke in many instances (even worse in the women's), same for the log press. I don't want the judging to be as picky as in powerlifting but by these standards, it's punishing the athletes using somewhat strict form which cannot be good for the sport in the long term.

At 30:38 you can hear people booing Hooper. Probably because a lot of people wanted Mateusz to win (including myself). And while I do not think scoring system is entirely fair, I do not think its OK towards the Hooper to boo him. He fought hard for that win, and he performed decent across all events. Mateusz in the other hand, underperformed both log and dead lift, which costed him a lot (due to scoring system).

  • @xZeroOffical

And Log is not even Mateusz weak event, it's because of his past injury that he could not perform as usual.

Arnold strongman classic is more of dead lift competition. It is highly (over)valued, and it is not first time for Mateusz to fall to second place because of it.

In my opinion you shouldn't compete if you don't plan on taking a competition serious. It's no shame if a WSM is focused on nothing else than WSM, but it's really strange to see the World's Strongest Man getting beaten by many guys throughout the whole year just because he only focuses on WSM and maybe Britain's. Takes away the Prestige of the title imo.

just needs to learn to wait for the whistle before lifting the frame (or other implements in the future) 😅 lots of sports you get disqualified and zero points for starting too early. That was sneaky coz if he didn't lost his grip, could have win this competition or even get the record and on such short distance (10m) 0.5 sec or thereabout is precious when the record is only 7sec.
