2023 Arnold Strongman Classic - Full Competition Recap

Спорт

Coverage of all 5 events from the men’s portion of the 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic, as re-broadcast on the CBS Sports Spectacular. The competition took place March 3-4 in Columbus, Ohio, and once again featured 10 elite international Strongman athletes, including Mateusz Kieliszkowski (Poland), the Stoltman Brothers (Scotland), Bobby Thompson (USA), Trey Mitchell (USA), and a very confident Mitchell Hooper (Canada). For the second consecutive year, a first-time champ was also guaranteed to be crowned.
The CBS re-broadcast includes extended highlights from each challenge over the two days of competition: the Wheel of Pain, Austrian Oak, Elephant Bar Deadlift, Steintossen Stone Throw, and Timber Carry.

What impressed me most about Mitch was clearly even when coming second in several events, like the elephant bar press, he clearly could have done more, same with some other events where it was clear he was not nearly pushing himself as hard as the other competitors... I wonder if that helped him keep so consistent across the entire event. But it is also clear he isnt even close to setting his best pr yet... a few improvements in select events and he will be near impossible to stop baring no injuring.. Wish him the best coming up, as a fellow Canadian he is really doing us proud. It's funny because i was not following world's strongest man for over a year, and had just watched some Eddie and Brian movies, so I wondered who was the next Canadian to take up representing our nation, and only to find out Hooper is not only representing us proud, he is owning this year... bravo to him....

The last event is good for "grip and back" stamina too. You try marching up a steep ramp with heavy suit cases in your hands.. it's taxing in the extreme. The first guy to complete the ramp was Zydrunas Savickas. The first year Arnold Strongman was held seriously, Big Z was the only guy to get up the ramp. It's that brutal of an endurance and grip test.

I mean it's cool seeing Rogue, Rep Fitness, SBD, and the big guys but there used to be smaller companies that had cool stuff. The smaller supplement manufacturers are generally better than the vitamin shop stuff but they seem to be less of them there. Lots of people selling clothes that can only be classified as cringe. It's getting pricey for what it's become. Add in travel expenses, which for me isn't bad as it's a only 2 hour drive for me. However if I had to travel and get a hotel room and find transportation it would not really be worth it.
