2022 Arnold Strongman Classic | Full Recap
Спорт
Coverage from all five events at the 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic, as re-broadcast on the CBS Sports Spectacular. The competition took place March 4th and 5th in Columbus, Ohio, and featured 10 elite international Strongman athletes, including Martins Licis (USA), Rob Kearney (USA), Oleksii Novikov (Ukraine), and the Stoltman brothers (Scotland). For the first time in a decade, no past Arnold champions were part of the field, meaning a first-time champ was guaranteed to be crowned.
The CBS re-broadcast includes extended highlights from each challenge over the two days of competition: the Double T Squat, Monster Dumbbell Press, Austrian Oak, Timber Carry, and Stone to Shoulder.

Well, this ain't boxing
Novikov’s technique on the dumbbell press is just spectacular. The way he almost acts like a spring in his leg to cushion the weight at the top. I think if all the competitors applied this technique then we would get some crazy results in this event.

@amanginhaI give up. Now we have people hating on technique

I think he wasted a lot of energy on that... 5 repeats was enough. Could've won, but we will never know

@amanginha it’s full body athleticism and explosive power. Strongman isn’t just about raw strict static power. That’s what powerlifting is for. Also he was got the stone to his shoulder while most failed.

I dont think other athletes can apply that technique sadly, Novikov is leaner and smaller so is easier for him to isolate the movement of his hips. Someone like Shaw, Caron or Thor wouldnt be able to tilt the hips to provide that spring like movement.
One thing I noticed while watching this back was look how happy Rob Kearney is at 26:43 when Luke hits the winning lift for the log. They're competitors in this competition and Rob was right up the top of the table, and he was still genuinely thrilled for Luke to make that winning lift. The comradery and sportsmanship in Strongman is second to none, as well as Rob just being such a standup guy.

Very true!
Rogue you're the blessing in the strongman industry rn. While WSM and WUS deal with payouts and match fixing, you guys continue to deliver an amazing experience for both viewers and competitors. Can't wait to buy more products and eventually build a home gym with rogue equipment. Love y'all !!

I agree with WSM but I strongly disagree with WUS. These guys have done good for the sport, they have raised the price money to a totally new level

What are you talking about cause that’s just totally wrong wsm is a good clean competition with some of the best athletes in the world and is run correctly.

There's match fixing in WSM? That would explain the Thor bogus cheating allegations.
Wow finally the competition we all wanted! The weights are heavy af, and the line up is all rockstars. WSM has it's place, but it's all too light for my taste. Max squat and max log and I was already sold. Fantastic showing for a lot of the guys too. Stoltman's log, JF on the squat, and Licis on the stones were all pretty awesome to see. Novikov put on a hell of a show as well, as expected.

Agreed. For Novikov to come into the competition while actively fighting in a war and still perform as well as he did? He would have swept the competition if he was able to focus. If he stays safe during this awful time, I expect so much greatness from him in the future.
JF looked like he had more than 1000lbs in the Squat! Novikov was unreal in the dumbbell, I’d say it was historic Luke looked incredible in the log, just perfect technique Maxime on fire on the frame! And the champ, The Dragon, Martins finishing on a high note, winning the last event as usual, his 3rd time in a row winning on stones and beating Tom in all of them

It may be time for Tom to give up his King of the Stones title to Martins!
The absolute best pure strength event I've ever had the pleasure to watch, absolutely incredible, thank you Arnold and all the people who made this happen.
What a pleasure listening to Big Loz give commentary, absolute legend. P.s. Thanks for posting this Rogue, much appreciated.

Loz has really found his place in commentary, really happy for him! Life after strongman 🙂
I think its nothing but logical that the Arnolds Strongman Classic is slowly becoming the main competition in strongman. Always heavy Events that really seperate the competitors, big prize money and a way better broadcast than wsm

All due respect, is not slowly doing it, it´s been a while since the Arnold´s have taken as the main competition of strongman
Thank you guys so much for still putting this content out on KZread, this does more for the sport than one might realize.
Insane competition, incredible video production - congrats to all the competitors and big thanks to Rogue.
Shame to see that Caron got injured, guy is one of the most consistently well performing strongman in history.

100%, he always seemed to be in the WSM finals and always won at least one event at every competition. He's been more consistent than some of the guys who have actually won the comps.
My favorite back squat for max weight was 1981 WSM. Bill Kazmaier defeated Dave waddington with a squat nearly 1,000 lb raw. That is still one of the most impressive feats of leg strength ever done. I honestly don't know how many people in the world today could put 970 lb on a squat rack and come up with it with no suit and next to no wraps.
Rogue does such a good job of growing the sport and they keep it free for the fans
Thank you Rogue for all that you're doing for my favorite sport!! Rogue is the only equipment I'll ever buy
Novikov's Dumbbell is God tier 🇺🇦👑
Watching a competition like this gives you a different perspective in life, always do the outmost best in life no matter how hard it gets.
Anyone else feel admiration for their families that had to feed these guys growing up? Must have been an endless task.
I will always remember this comp for JF looking like a Machine in the squat. I just wish he was pushed to 1,000+ as he looked good for it. Then Oleksi on the dumbbell, The Highland Oak on The Austrian Oak, little Rob Kearney suprising folks by leading after day one. Maxime with a Matueszesque Frame carry. Great competition. Martins being the perfect blend of size, strength and athleticism, as he preps for comps so well.
I started lifting about a year ago, and I have so much more appreciation of just how spectacular what these guys can do is. I'm watching them squatting literally ten times what I can, and it blows my mind.
24:11 That guy going crazy in the back for Licis is just amazing. Cracked me up
Lets goooooooo !!!!!!!! Thank you Rogue !!!! Thank you Arnold !!!! And a big Thank you to Oleksii Novikov for showing up !! God bless Ukraine
Amazing how different their strengths are in different events. Luke Stoltman made the others look ordinary in log press. Then can hardly move other things.
You can see how proud Luke is that his little brother won WSM, there's probably the usual competitiveness between siblings but there's no jealousy and nothing but love.
It is always spectacular, and jaw-dropping to see what these guys can pull off...BRAVI!
Martins is what I want to see in a strongman, he could have stopped at the first stone to shoulder but did two to prove his strength
Licis is so gifted it’s insane. Dudes muscles must be as dense as diamonds.
8:55 I like how Boudreault takes a step back even though they move the racks out of the way for him. He's probably just so used to a regular squat rack that it's just habit to step back.
Love how excited Arnold was at 25:55 at Trey’s lift, he loves this
Lifting more weight than other guys in front of an enthusiastic Arnie must be such an amazing feeling. Go Luke!
Thank you for providing this content in a condensed format. Love it!
Parabéns a todos atletas.
I think they've got it just right now, for a while it seemed too heavy and too brutal and there were a lot of injuries. Now it's an excellent all rounder that really shows who is strongest. Not like WSM where they seem to pick events based on who they want to win each year
Novikov's stone lift , wow!
Such a good show. Can't wait for the Invitational to watch live.
the fact they can even get that log over their knees is absolutely insane.
She looks like a winner. Had it in the bag from the moment she got onstage.
As I await the coverage of 2023… I’m enjoying this immensely!!
Luke. Tom 👍 👍 Luke
Congratz to martins, huge respect to the other athletes who did their best.
THAT WAS AMAZING TO WATCH !!!!! 🏋🏾♀️💪🏾
Could you make these 1 hour or 1.5 hours and cover all the lifts possibly? Thank you so much. Great as always!
They were doing squat for max back in the Kaz days. I'm excited to see this. Good grief JF made that look weightless.
Novikov lifted that dumbbell like it was full of air. Guy straight up paused for a drink.

He is on another level for sure. His technic is incredible.
Crazy how easy JF squated and Luke pressed the winning wheights😳
42:44 you just gotta love Romark man. Seems to be more happy than Martins himself and comes flying in
hearing JF predict that the log press will be his worst event is heartbreaking knowing how bad it actually went.
If this ever comes to Australia I would love to see this in person.
Congratulations to Martins! 🎉 🙏🏽😊
I have always wanted to see him win, he is a beast.
These guys are incredibly strong.
That stone to shoulder even is literally one mans proof as to how great he is. Multiple years and it's his, easily. I am sure they will phase it out. I am curious as to how long it will take for someone to make it look like he does.
Add a timestamp in the description for the events and other specific chapters. This will make it more user friendly for people who want to watch specific events or skim through.
Thank you for the content. Thanks for pushing strong man forward.
Martins would've been a very good Oly lifter. He is not the biggest, but flexible and explosive. Imagine what Lasha Talakhadze could've done at this competition, especially in the log lift.
This specific strongman competition is purely base on sheer strength unlike other strongman competition that also tests the endurance and stamina
I love how Romark is not only Martins's buddy, and content creator but also his biggest fan
Trey didnt even pick up the timber carry but they give him an inch of movement 32:25 . Thats sweet :)
Man, Rob is great, such a big man in an average sized body!
Love the Arnold's! A real strength competition instead of a rigged cross fit comp. Great job Rogue.

@Joe Mama I can't help but feel you have some extreme bitterness' and jealously going on that a brit is the worlds strongest man and that you resort to false accusations and bizarre comments to try make yourself feel better.
Novikov killed that overhead dumbbell!
Jean-Francois Caron, Once again you have made an extraordinary accomplishment of Super Human strength, Thank you so much, I am even more proud to be Canadian. You ARE and WILL BE, the strongest man in the WORLD ! Thank You.
Holy hell Mitchell that log press was a battle. Good lift dude
this competition is so tough, a bunch of the guys got zero points in some of the events and others went above and beyond. A 257 lb dumbbell 99.999999 percent of people couldn't even drag that around the room let alone lift it up lift it over your shoulder Novikov did it 7 times. Just incredible strength. Martins Licis doesn't look or act like he has super hero strength but geez he dominates. He has such a goofball personality. Just incredible.
It always pains me when I see how some strongmen care SO MUCH about wsm, to the point that they even ignore other wins. WSM is only relevant due to inertia, from tradition or whatever. This competition was way more brutal. I die a little when in WSM you have someone finish 10th because he carried a freaking car tire 4.3 seconds slower then the event winner or whatever.
Feels bad for J.F., but glad for Martins. (Sad to not see Brian, but Bobby did well.)
Them Stoltman brothers are remarkable
Hearing JF saying log is going to be his worst event hurts even more now 😭
Probably the most enjoyable competition in recent memory just because of the events. Absolutely no easy events, and all super heavy. The strongest men should have to lift the heaviest things, not lighter things at faster speeds
Martins left no doubt. Reminds me of the Mountain in 2020 I believe
I would love to see Arnold’s alternate the elephant bar max deadlift and this Tbar max squat.
I rate this production!! So on point!
Brotherly love is at its best between the stoltmans tom taking it easy for his bro
7 presses on the dumbell is amazing
Daayyyyyyuuuummmm!!! 😲 Novikov with that stone! I don't think I blinked that whole time!
WSM could definitely take some pointers on how to run a strongman show from the Arnold Classic and is the true contest to determine the WSM
getting pumped for 2023 show!
This is awesome. Thank you for sharing it.
The only competition where I want everyone to win.
Novikov is something else.
Jeg ser med fra Danmark EU ,jeg er en dame på 66 år ,jeg elsker strongman ,tak for at vise det ,jeg har ventet længe på det 👍🙂🤗❤️
JF made that winning squat look so easy.
I didn’t think Arnold would actually b at his own events but he was there
From someone who already watched it live, thank you for uploading this
These highlights not showing all of Carons squats is ridiculous.

He flexed on everyone else for sure
Bro 14:23 he just absolutely repped a 1000 pounds. My max in 7 years of building clean was 877.5 and I was bathed in salts and chalk. Blows me away the amount of real strength these dudes can attain

For a frame of reference on the squats. These guys are 400 lb or so. The best squat, with full equipment and suits, was 966. The Canadian guy might have been able to go 1050 Max. 1981 world's strongest man. Bill kasmire did 970 on the Smith machine with a straight bar, unequipped. The next year in 1982 Dave waddington hit a thousand. Kazmaier only weighed 320 lbs. Dave waddington was around 330. On the one arm overhead press of dumbbells. 1960 Paul Anderson of the state of Georgia did 300 lb for reps on television one armed. He only weighed about 320 lb.
novikov is a champion in the making
we were waiting for this. Thanks @ Rogue Fitness
Thank you for putting this up!
Well that was 44 minutes of awesome.
