While I appreciate they’re quite different competitions, WSM could learn a lot from the Rogue Invitational. For one, the quality of the equipment is second to none. Look at the deadlift and arm over arm here compared to WSM’s wrecking ball when the athletes were stood on a forklift. What baffles me is that Rogue is a sponsor for WSM, so why don’t we see that quality there? Add to that the quality professional commentary that isn’t full of hyperbole and is easy to listen to for both strongman newcomers and experts. The production is far superior and we manage to see more action packed into 45 minutes than 1.5 hours of a WSM final. And finally, without wanting to be unkind, it’s nice not to have Eddie Hall here with his fake presenter accent making brilliantly incorrect statements about the athletes such as ‘yoke is one of Maxime’s best events’

I think part of the reason for this disparity is the fact that the Rogue Invitational is, on its own, a massive commercial failure. The amount of funding that goes into creating this beautiful kit, high-quality livestream, prize money etc. is huge, Rogue don't even come close to breaking even with the money they get from spectators, sponsors etc. The Rogue Invitational only works because it builds a long-term reputation for the brand as the best in the business, which _eventually_ leads to more people buying their equipment and thus a profit. WSM is not exactly in the same boat; it's just a TV show, not a merchandise brand, so Giant's Live can't put the same amount of money into it as Rogue do. I do agree that there are many low-cost improvements GL could make to their shows, WSM included (e.g. better commentary), but I don't think they'll match the spectacle that Rogue put on with the Invitational.

@@garymeaney60 I’d consider Rogue to be a successful marketing campaign for the brand first, and a competition for fans to enjoy second. The Worlds Strongest Man is a competition known the world over thanks to its longevity and the fact it’s consistently been on the TV since an age before streaming and the internet. I think in order to continue to evolve, they could still take inspiration from a more modern competition like the RI. One thing that needs to be pointed out is that Giants Live and WSM are two separate entities. WSM is run by IMG but owned by the parent company Endeavour who also own the UFC. Giants Live is owned by Darren Sadler and Colin Bryce, and their shows act as a qualifier for WSM.

I think a lot of it comes down to whomever owns the rights to WSM. They should just let Rogue take over as the main sponsor. Quality would explode and reach, you would actually be able to seem them. The worst part about WSM is you might see the full even upwards of a year later as they try strike the best deal.
