USS North Carolina (BB-55) was lead ship of a class of 35,000-ton battleships, the North Carolina-class fast battleships. She was built at the New York Navy Yard. When commissioned in April 1941, she was the first new battleship to join the fleet in nearly two decades. Following over a year of prolonged shakedown and training cruises in the Atlantic area, North Carolina went to the Pacific in June 1942. She took part in the Guadalcanal campaign during the rest of that year and some of 1943, covering the initial landings there and participating in the Battle of the Eastern Solomons in August 1942. She was damaged by a Japanese submarine torpedo on 15 September, in an attack that also fatally damaged USS Wasp (CV-7), but returned to the Solomons combat zone after a few months' repairs. In November 1943, North Carolina assisted in capturing enemy positions in the Gilbert Islands. This began a pattern of operations for her that lasted for the rest of World War II: serving in the anti-aircraft screen of aircraft carrier task forces and occasionally using her heavy guns to bombard Japanese-held islands. In these roles, during 1944 she was involved in the Marshalls operation in January-February, attacks on Central Pacific targets through the late winter and spring, the Marianas invasion and Battle of Philippine Sea in June, and Western Pacific carrier strikes in November and December. North Carolina continued her Western Pacific activities in 1945, participating in the invasions of Iwo Jima in February and Okinawa in March and April. The battleship also screened carriers on raids throughout the combat zone, including attacks on the Japanese home islands. She was off Japan in August and September, during the weeks just before and after that nation's surrender. North Carolina returned to the United States in October 1945 and operated in the Atlantic until she was inactivated in 1946. Decommissioned in June 1947, she was part of the "mothball" fleet until stricken from the navy list in June 1960. The following year, North Carolina was transferred to the State of North Carolina to become a memorial and museum at Wilmington, where she remains to this day.

Spartan, just a history tidbit, unlike her sister, USS Washington actually got a chance to engage in a battleship duel with the IJN Kirishima (and sank her) during the 4th Battle of Savo Island. As to the USS North Carolina Museum, been on her several times and never dull.

NC was beastly in ranked... think she's one of those boats that really takes advantage of being at the tier shes assigned (meaning she's a terror at t5/t6), but even then a solid ship all around

I love this ship I have dev struck so many cruisers especially Pensacola’s and nurinbergs

I really love North Carolina. I got lucky and got her out of a crate on my birthday. I used her in rank this previous season and she was absolutely MAGNIFICENT

I got this ship from the crates last month and it has quickly become my favorite tier VI battleship! I love this ship!

The NC had phenomenal AP it’s one of my fav ships, i triple citadeled a IOWA, for the first time ever in that ship, that things just loved to penetrate ships i average 100K damage at LEAST per game with her!

North Carolina's sister was more special than most people give her credit for, Spartan. USS Washington fought against IJN Kirishima - a Kongo-class battleship - and sank her during the Battle of Guadalcanal. It was because of this victory over Kirishima that the Imperial Japanese Navy feared Washington more than any other USN battleship, even over the superior Iowa-class BBs. To date, USS Washington was the only American battleship to actually sink an enemy battleship in the Second World War.

Used her 99% of ranked and clapped. Very last ranked match she net me 270k game...Would've been 300k if the game didn't mercy rule. Great ship and tanky if played right but her dispersion...sometimes makes me question my life choices. Also, sounding a lot more like yourself, Spartan. Best of vibes to you.

I got the NC in the crate last month and it's definitely the gem of the alternate USN BB line. It didn't take long to max out its XP via grind. Not knocking the Colorado, but the NC suits my playstyle a bit better. I also did better in the Nevada VS the New York, and I'm having some really good games in the Tennessee, which I'm enjoying more than the New Mexico. I don't think I'll shell out for the Kansas though. I'll stick to the Iowa and spend those credits on other lines I'm grinding.

@@DCS_Eternal It is possible to citadel them at close. I'd say it was the extra penetration from the super heavy shells that did that.

This has quickly become my favourite ship to play. If you angle properly, you can survive, it slaps HARD, shoots down everything with its AA and fighter plane and it’s fairly manoeuvrable.

I wish their were more unique ships sometimes it can feel like I'm using the same ship but different country especially lower tiers sometimes like the de graf the german cruiser tier 5 i think and i think that's its name a cruise with battle ship guns with torpedoes it feel fun sometimes

Just got her, she feels ,Ike a nice ship providing you're not against 5 BBs that have pushed to one side

I used this in ranked and I've got to say in my opinion its one of the most dangerous ships at T6. It is far superior to most BBs at this tier. Went with only two loses and 3 kraken games with average game damage not going below 100k in any game (although some games had health boosters making that easy)

There's been no nerf to my knowledge the descriptor texts are there to give a basic idea of what a ship offers they aren't unique to that ship and do not change anything about a ship

The most ships I have unlocked are American Battleships. After over half a year of playing I have yet to unlock a single Battleship captain. Not sure if WG hates me, personally, or if they do this to everyone because they just like screwing with people.

I own two US BBs, Wyoming (T3 regular) and Texas (got that from a refund from a game I mistakenly bought, which was a pile of s**te imo. (the og Star Wars Battlefront 2.)) T4 premium. However, my issue is that I can't really seem to citadel anything in any of my battleships regularly and always seem to be instantly ganged up on and sunk by the enemy team before I even get a chance to get a defensive shot off. Got any tips for me?
