    @jaco5187 Yeah the Beatles were together for about 13 or 14 years if you count the earliest days that John Paul and George were making music so it really was about the same amount of time Tool took to write and record Fear Inoculum. Really puts it in perspective and makes you appreciate both bands catalogs in different ways. Two of my all time favorite bands..

    Very often when an artist is nearing completion of a significant work be it painting, sculpture, album, etc. they are technically never finished they just end up picking a moment to stop working on it. Nothing is every perfect and a person can spend their entire life improving something but eventually you have to say it is good enough. With music bands often try to avoid repeating previous songs and in rvase of Tool, they have had so much success that they didn't have to create a radio friendly single to promote the album. Their fanbase was strong enough they were not constrained to make a 3 minute song.

    @Michael Jurek can’t stand each other is probably not the correct way to say it but they don’t work together because they butt heads to badly. Danny, Justin, and Adam write and record all of the instrumental parts then send it to MJK for him to add vocals to. From what I have heard in interviews the band tends to change/tweak things constantly until they feel like it’s perfect and that forced Maynard to have to start over or rethink/redo the vocals. So now he tells them just send it to me when it’s finished.

    I don't know Maynard, so I can't say whether I like him or not, but I do absolutely love the fact that he stays out of the limelight on stage not only because he feels uncomfortable on stage (I believe I remember hearing something about that), but also because he feels that the instrumentation deserves just as much, if not even more, attention as the lyrical content/vocals. To me, that speaks volumes about his character. I love music, all kinds of music, but if I were only able to choose one band's catalog to listen to for the rest of my life, it would be Tool. I've been listening to them for over twenty years now, and their music's meaning (what it means/says to me) evolves as I get older. I will gladly wait another decade for the next album.

    I think I already said it but I'm watching this video again. I was at the concert in 2019 when they announced the release of this album. I saw them on my birthday on the Fear Inoculum tour and just went and saw a band from the '90s that is Failure and watched the 30-minute documentary with Maynard in it. I could literally touch the stage while they were singing The Nurse who Loved Me! I missed Puscifer last week, but I will catch them next time! I love Maynard and Tool...thank you for your music! I love his humor as I watch his interviews!

    I started listening to Tool around 5 or so years ago, the first song I heard was Stinkfist, someone used it in an Eve Online PvP video and I thought it was really good. Gradually I started listening to other of their songs like Third Eye. Then I found Lateralus and it totally changed the way I thought about music, not just rock or metal. It was a truly amazing experience to be blown away by the sheer possibilities and the power of music. I'm in love with music, and I love great albums, I love Random Access Memories, Reflektor, Igor, Currents. I love great music but absolutely nothing compares to Tool.

    I see where you're coming from but if you knew the WHOLE story, I feel like Maynard's perspective on his mother's death most definitely HAS changed and matured over the years. The guy wrote this angry, aggressive, cynical, sort of anti-religious, anti-God song "Judith" in a perfect circle. Full of bitterness and full of vitriol. Towards what he saw as his mother's blind faith, and towards God himself, maybe... Okay well eventually after she died, and he had his personal experience with you know, processing her death and what it MEANS, to her, what it means to him, etc .. he wrote the epic, two part masterpiece "wings for Marie/10,000 days" with Tool... if you listen to that piece, he is NOT shaking his fist at the sky, mad at God. I think he sees what a waste of time that is. Instead he's telling his mother goodbye, and inviting her to come HOME.... (as in heaven, with God) "Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father. Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended. It's time now, my time now. GIVE ME MY WINGS..." it's one of the most poignant and moving pieces of music I've ever heard, as a tribute to someone you love who you've lost. I feel like with Maynard, yeah maybe some of that bitterness will ALWAYS be there, about his mom, and faith, and such...but I feel like after her death he grew to RESPECT her faith, maybe even be inspired by it... I can see the sort of evolving, the progression of his spirituality in music. Anger, bitterness, denial, feeling numb, empty. Eventually sort of a strained acceptance, even PEACE, with the whole thing about his mother. For me it's always been very personal and very inspirational. As a longtime fan of all of his projects, as well as myself being a person who has experienced alot of grief and death, Maynard's journey mirrored my own. In some ways, me seeing his growth helped ME to grow..

  • @melloyellogsxr

    @melloyellogsxr

    Жыл бұрын

    It wasn't just her death but her life. Maynard comprehends faith but had difficulty understanding why someone who was so faithful to the religious order who blamed herself for her paralysis. Claimed it was a physical manifestation of her sins. and even after being turned away and abandoned by her church. She continued to praise the Lord despite the actions by the church taken towards her and all of her health problems that he saw as the lord allowed her to suffer she still praised his name. It was more of a testament to his mother's unwavering faith. But you can't judge someone for what they believe. If you were born in india you would be Hindu. If you were muslim muhammad would be the one you praise and if you were maynard then if would be your mother..
