The "blue" realized where the wind is blowing and that leftists are the only ones with any teeth, thus to keep those fat pensions they side with what they want. Just like how the economy works, people act in self-interest ultimately, thus when this expands to politics, people's behavior and actions are also informed by this as well. It doesn't matter if we don't back the blue, it won't alter how they are now behaving as again the blue knows and sees who controls their pensions and who will defund them and who will jail and arrest them, etc. They see conservatives have no real power nor wield it when they do, thus they don't care if we support them or not.
