Max Payne: No Time like Bullet Time | The Completionist | New Game Plus
Ойындар
There's only a few things I care about in this grim world: my job, my dog, and my games. This week on New Game Plus I return to my Max Payne review. The early 2000s were a time full of edge, bullet time, and being a badass. Continuing my Video Game Movie Month we take a look at the gun-fight filled life of Max Payne.

It was really fun to go back and play a game that started a series. I really want to play the other Max Payne games! Do you have any games where you played the first one in a series, but haven't gotten around to playing the sequels?

The closest thing to this for me is Yakuza 0 , played it recently and it's the only yakuza game I've played to this day

There's a SEGA game called *Valkryia Chronicles* , I played and enjoyed it. But however, I didn't complete the hardest difficulty, or didn't try to unlock any extras for completing the game in 100% (If there is). This game is so great and underrated, it's like playing SEGA's *Shining Force* games, but in 3D. I tried playing *Valkryia Chronicles 2* , but my PSP broke down and the 3rd game is only available in Japan. However, Revolution and the 4th games are out on Western versions, but I still need to finish off the 2nd game to advance to the other sequels, though.

Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. I played the sequels, I just think you'd have fun with it. Also, Baulder's Gate Dark Alliance 1 and 2.
"My wife, my kids, my joooooooob" I'm glad you brought this joke back.

When he started narrating I had to stop the video to prepare myself for the possibility he would make that joke again. I was still not prepared. This show is amazing
Took me 3 minutes to realize Jirard was doing a edgy voice for comic relief. Thought he was bored.
After playing Max Payne I narrate everything in my head in a monotone voice. is it just me?

I still remember going back to the elevator and realizing she wasn't there. Those who played it will probably remember.
"Spoiler alert: My version did _not_ have Marky Mark... but it _did_ have the rest of the Funky Bunch" This stuff right here is why I'm subscribed
This man loves his job, give em a raise.
Max Payne: The snow came down like a coffin lid as some guy called Jirard reviewed the past couple of blood soaked days as if it was some kind of weekly video game review. None of that mattered though as I scowled and walked away into an empty peach snapple-less night.

Play the sequels. Because after his wife, his kid and his JOB, Max Payne only cares about Mona's box and BOOZE.

this game blew me away NOT ONLY because of the bullet time, it was the first game I ever really noticed amazing bullet decals on walls, chips of tiles breaking off after missing a shot, hitting the wall behind my target. Amazing for it's time.
I'm not sure how to put this, but it feels like you guys always go the extra mile for bits on New Game Plus, and it is ALWAYS hilarious. I had to pause the video because I was laughing so hard at Jirard listing off things he cares about XD
such a fantastic game, and the sequals just gets better and better

The 3rd one is awful. Rockstar ruined the franchise. That God awful filter and constant cinematic garbage.
The thought of Jirard not reviewing Jade Empire is really becoming a Payne in my backside
I’ve been waiting for this!!! Please do 2 soon!
I literally finished Max Payne 3 again for the first time in years yesterday... Still such a good game, the gameplay is fantastic!
I think Max Payne was the series that made me love ragdoll physics. I mean, I was a wee lad when I played it so it was pretty much the only thing that I really cared about.
So glad you covered this game. Totally reminds of High school when I did a paper on this game due to being in a class where Hard Boiled Detectives and Film Noir was being covered in the curriculum. This needs a reboot of some sort
I remember I bought this when it came out, it was so hyped up in nyc and it really was a lot of fun. Rockstar never failed to deliver. I played this countless late nights and early mornings, such a good memory as a kid, you can deff relate to this feeling in the late 90s early 2000s ps games and ps2 games.
Man, I really loved the comic book style presentation you put up for this video, really doing justice to the game. Never get tired of being amazed by Jirard and his team's efforts
This is honestly one of my favourite completionist videos in a while.

Haven't played it since it first came out. I was a kid. I'll NEVER forget that intro. As a young boy, that shit was WILD to me. It's burned into my memory
Bro thank you for everything you do and the best of luck to ya.
Love the classic episodes, brings back memories
"...Games in the Movies month!" OH NO, THE MOVIE EXISTED!
I always love the small nod to Wild Arms during the ending of these episodes with the battle music being played in the background.
Nice vid man keep up the good work
Awesome video! Brought me back.
Love the art on this episode
Man the amount of effort for this video is fantastic.
Thank you. This is one of my favorite videos that you reviewed.
Hilarious as usual! Would love to see a review on the Serious Sam series of games, its a nice contrast to this in almost every way XD.
Jirard could've done a simple episode just to get the video out, but for our sake, he put in that extra with great comedy and superb design. I loved the Pax Payne refrences, especially in the intro. Outstanding video!
You went through the trouble of making those amazing comic panels for your review! That's very nice, man, lots of love from Finland
I was really hoping you'd go off on a list of things you love great work on this video very artistic approach
One of the most underrated series' of all time. Such a good time especially on PC. Second game is fantastic and has dead man walking mode which is so much damn fun! Definitly should play thru all of them. Dont even have to complete em just get thru them. Its a good time.
Love your videos man I hope you still find the time to continue the series of max Payne, and many more great games of the decade and more. Sorry about your family btw I wish you all the best man, keep up the good work
So happy I wasnt the only one with this on my top favorite games as a kid list. Thank you
I loved this review in the past, glad you brought it back. Love the dubstep remix, "My wife, my Kid, my JoooOOOOooooOOob."
Excellent breakdown. That was fun.
Thank you for another great episode!
It's funny you revisited this game. I recently replayed it as well. The only thing that didn't age well was the controls during the beam walking segments. The game itself is still pretty fun.

Zetsubou Sensei I was just about to say! I must of died about 20-30 times 😑
Fun fact. According to Sami Järvi (or "Sam Lake" as some of you may know him), not only was his face used for Max Payne, but one of the other characters is his mom!
Max Payne 3 was one of my favorite ones. Even if you dont do it for the show its just a fun final go around for Max if it is in fact the final time they do one

Max payne 3 would have been better without all the cutscenes
Thank you for making this video happen
this brought up so much nostalgia I forgot I had
Max Payne 1 and 2 do one thing better than most games even today: they build a world and set an atmosphere that is unreplicatable.
Loved loved LOVED this game when it came out! So excited about this review.
Comic style part breaks were lovely, great job
Cool video! I loved the comic book cards, that was a great idea... 👋
There's an awesome easter egg in the parking garage with the BB boss fight. You jump up on a telephone box and can jump down into a room with a voice recorder message from the guys on the development team congratulating you/thanking you for buying and playing the game. Really nice touch.
Lost count of how many times you said 'My wife, kid and job' in the 1st time you did this game and couldn't help but love the intro where you went through it again ^_^ laughed a little too hard methinks, but couldn't help it! Thank you for the NG+ version :D
loved Max Payne in my early high school years, the combo of having that Grand Theft Auto and the Driver series completed my dark gritty gaming world
man is this great to see after so long the original episode of this was among my favorites and yes this episode lives up to that legacy I hate to admit this but every time you did the wife kids and job joke you got a laugh out of me so well played good sir both in comedy chops and in terms of actually playing the game I for one am glad the twitch decided with you to not play the new york minute mode cause you should always complete for fun not for obligation anyway great video looking forward to the next one and here is your wave once again WAVE
I remember downloading that dub remix song that you had in the original episode listened to occasionally over the years, gotta say really loving these new episodes
Got this in the current steam sale, relived my childhood memories! What a coincidence. :)
a very nice idea for making this episode in the style of the game noir comic story sequences :D
YES ANOTHER COMPLETIONIST. Thank you
This game showed you can do so much with very little. If you ask me I say it holds up to this day and I can always go back to it. It is just enthralling.
I've recently been playing Max Payne again for the first time in years on my tablet, and while it definitely takes some getting used to the touch screen controls, the surge of nostalgia that flows through me when I play makes it all worth it... even the menu music transports me back to better days lol
the fckin nightmare sections still haunts my brain
Woah! I had no idea they made a Max Payne movie! I have to check that out lol
I’m glad this is back but I’ll always miss the first time this game was brought up on his channel.
Hell yeah always the best old games I'm randomly thinking about a good video comes out
Max Payne is def one of my ps2 fav games. the music and that dark story is sick. the way he crunches down on those pills always tripped me out lol.
I really like how you use the Gun Fortress theme from shadow the hedgehog at 6:00 Its a nice touch to it.

2:12 You were expecting Max Payne but it was ME, Seth Meyers!
I hear the song in the beginning and sadly I think jedi mind tricks the wolf was going to play in the background... need to play through this again
Are you going to do any episode on Control?
The brazilian dub for this game is a national treasure. It also happened in a time where game companies didn't really care about releasing their games in portuguese. I never played this game, but that fact alone makes me like it.
Didn't know you had a twitch channel. I rarely use twitch but I have prime so next month when it's allowence renues I'll sub to you everymonth. I've been using my sub for esl csgo but your smaller and still have staff so it will go ferther on your channel. Keep up the amazing work sir
THANKS JIRARD ‼️‼️ Love this Game.
Good job on the vid
12:59 Damn dude lmao Also I remember those nightmare sequences stayed with me for a while lol. They came out of no where. Also those creepy ass tv shows we're hilarious. They're were weird that when they finish you want to get back to murdering bad guys.
I came here from 64Bits's Detective Pikachu / Max Payne animation and man, I'm liking all the Max Payne content!
It may be ugly by today's standards, but back in the day, it was a BEAUTY! The amount of detail and destructible scenery was unheard of. Shooting tiles of bathroom walls or blowing holes in a wooden construction was something I never experienced before. And the fact that both Max and his opponents could show pain in their faces when getting shot (or just Max's face when pulling the trigger) was simply awesome!
Haven't played this in years. Yeah.. it takes me to a time in my life too.
Max Payne is a very good memory for me from my childhood. Since everytime I got something new hardware installed in my rig the guy who fixed my pc always installed MP1 then later MP2 to test if the drivers are allright. So I always played this game because it was the first thing on my "new" pc :D
this is on my todo list to play again. got this game to run using a batch to launch it with just a single core 'start /affinity 1 maxpayne.exe' and also needed that soundfix. but haven't played it far yet.
This game ,Medal of Honor and Soldier of Fortune was my favorites guns games back in early 2000.
This game holds a special place in my nostalgia heart just like Syphon Filter

Love this, played MP for the first time in late 2012, and loved the game, despite the faults. The movie was subpar, but the fan film Max Payne: Vallhalla, sublime.

as a finnish gamer, max payne will always helf a special place in my mind. Being a 11 year old finnish boy and knowing this cool game was made by finnish people was exciting.
Max Payne also deserves credit for inventing the Bale Batman voice before Bale did
You should have done the Batman Begins impressions by saying " Where are the other drugs going ? "
anybody remember which episode number shovel knight was?
You're breathtaking! Well one game I would like to see a video on, is FTL.
