Max payne 3 is trash so I disagree. I love max Payne 1 and 2. Rockstars best game to me is gta 4. I hope the remakes of 1 and 2 that are being made are good.

It's not a spike difficulty. First off unskippable cutscenes is tedious. The story is trash in 3. Let's look past that cause that's not gameplay I get that. Max payne 1 and 2 your meant to run in a room and use slow motion to clear a room full of guys. What's broken with this game is they have a cover system. The game was balanced around the cover system. Noob move. They could of had no cover system and made the game harder but just in a different way. The point is to be able to just dive into rooms and clear rooms out. They really balanced this around you using the cover system.

Get your head straight man... GTAIV had everything based on physics. If anything you could complain how GTA5 stripped that all away. Max Payne is much closer to GTA IV than Red Dead 1 and GTA 5 in terms of physics and has much better shooting mechanics. GTA and RDR1 have quite wooden and stiff mechanics and physics as rockstar over corrected to all hell and wanted to have more stable performance on console. Max Payne 3 is much better with that. Loading times are hidden behind cutscens aand this is main reason they cant be skipped most of the time. It could be easily remedied in the remaster if they finally get around to that.

You couldn't have said it any better "Max is finally at peace with himself". Many people complain about the third game and how it supposedly felt disconnected from the rest of the franchise, but I see it in a different way. Throughout the first two games the weather and the overall atmosphere are always dreary, sad and melancholic almost symbolizing Max's fall towards the deepest pits of depression. However in the third game the weather, excluding the obvious fact the game takes place in Sao Paolo, is finally clearing up. Never have we seen any of the MP games take place during daytime which is a first. This in a way means that he's finally starting to come to terms with the fact that he needs to move on. The storm inside his head, the guilt, pain and suffering is coming to an end. And also not to mention, throughout the entire franchise he always narrates his thoughts on the situation at hand almost as if he feels the need to justify why he's doing what he's doing. At the end of 3 however, he doesn't say anything, simply because he has nothing left to say. He did his best and is now free of his demons that were tormenting him for years. A great end for an unfortunate character who had to endure so much suffering.

There is a complaint that Max already moved on before. In the end of second game, he says something like " They were dead. But that was okay" which refered to his family. But i don't buy it. In second game, he learns Lem is a traitor. Winterson was sleeping with Vladimir and told Max to stay away. Jim Bravura forced him to do desk job cause he considered him to be falling apart. Max proved he was right, but it costed lives of policemen in station, he lost Mona, Jim Bravura almost died, and then Max quit NYPD when story was over. This man took too much of a beating to call it "moving on". Also, the sunny setting is kind of ironic. Max is dealing with rich people who are dead inside, corrupt police and bussinesmen, rotten family where Giovanna was the only pure hearted character. He needs just a short walk to see something that richer people see from their houses, towers and helicopters, feeling safe thanks to police and security guys. And abandoned hotel is a masterpiece of tension, dread and moment of realisation for Max that he was used as fall guy, he just learned what is hiding beneath the surface of sunny, beautiful city.

If I had to sum up the journey of Max Payne in each installment in just a few words I'd say... Max Payne 1 is about experiencing new pain and trying to cope with it and it's trauma. Max Payne 2 is about trying overcome that previous pain. Failing, but ultimately coming to terms that Failure is okay as long you keep trying... and keep loving... despite how much it hurts. Max Payne 3 is about trying to STILL overcome that pain. Ultimately Succeeding, by means of trying something different in life and understanding you more then your trauma, your failure, and coming to terms with having to let go.

I really loved the graphics of this game, especially how they handled the cloth wrinkle simulation in this game. Very few other games does that trick [mostly sports games like FIFA and PES and some other sony exclusive games like uncharted 4]. This method was present in GTA V and RDR2 too but the effect was less pronounced to the point of being ineffective in many places. It's a very simple trick of blending multiple sets of normal maps to give the illusion of moving cloth wrinkles but it really does look more believable than just static wrinkles seen in most 3d games. 2D games back in the day had this effect a lot as well and cloths looked better because of that in those games.

I respect tf out videos like these, breaking down why a narrative driven story works and what it delivers to the players. What i would like to point out is that this game does have some flaws regarding the story BUT overall the experience that it provides is WELL worth those flaws. I understand that ppl got mad by how much the game changed compared to how it was, both content wise and character wise but that is to be expected if you have to make sth new. I liked the noire esc feeling the older games had alongside with the themes they went along, but i truly do believe this game is a fitting end to Max's story. Its feels way more grounded in reality and is significantly darker than the previous ones. What i also appreciated was how much max changes halfway through the game, hes fed up with wallowing in booze and painkillers than he feels that he need a change, a drastic one even if that kills him. The whole vibe this game has alongside with the music that HEALTH made truly is one of my most favourite parts why this game is one of my favourite of all time.

Max Payne 3 is nothing short of masterpiece! Finally, someone has made a review that doesn't slip down the route of, "it's far removed from the last two", "too many cutscenes" or "the style is too disorientating" - all of which are there for many essential reasons, including the horsepower available at the time and impact of narrative & execution - they are absolutely necessary - they aid the flow & context of the entire experience. To play the game and expect a 'vibe' and a repeat from over a decade earlier whilst viewing through nostalgiagasm lenses won't allow those suffering the need for cognitive bias to enjoy the title as it was intended (many saw reviews at the time and viewed the game from the perspective of the reviewer, a common issue in art). A dev that always panders to fan-service whilst it deconstructs the IP is not doing the franchise or audience any favours... are you listening Disney! Max Payne 3 not only stands the test of time - it improves with age - I've just replayed through on PC at 4K 120hz AA x4 using an LG C2 42 inch, the game certainly agrees with modern tech (and those with a degree in film & history). Everything about the game is utterly magnificent. The soundtrack, sound design, ambient SFX, art, gun-play, story, direction, character arc, mechanics...it's a marvel of game-craft & story execution, and it is a better game than previous two, of which I also adore. It's rare a film or games story & action starts well and becomes superior the further towards the end you get, simple or not. Those who have already completed know what I mean. The fizz you feel from walking into a nightclub to an airport - unparalleled in any game (think more fizz than the John Wick night club scene)! The previous games were superb but they did not deliver the moments of awe that MP3 stokes and maintains throughout - the novelty didn't and hasn't worn off. The noir, the gun-foo, the score, the OST, the story, the gritty truck-stop toilet that is Max's misfortune is undeniably back to and beyond peak form with several changes of appearance (not one, as reviews keep regurgitating), location, alcohol branding and facial hair. The experience is totally metal \m/. Make no mistake, this isn't just a legendary Payne entry - like Aliens it's an iconic entry that can stand alone - an instant classic that undoubtedly inspired more than gaming, isn't that right Mr Wick & Co. After replaying it for the 6th time since 2012 (it's now August 2023) I remain entirely sold. I played the first two once all the way through. The impact was memorable, even iconic but the novelty wore thin & wasnt enough to inspire multiple playthroughs. I've a very powerful editing suit. I maxed (pun intended) every setting, including AA on my rig. Wow! Just WOW! Every time I play the game the experience is a revelation. It is also a more complete game than the previous in every sense let alone the fact that it has multiplayer and challenges. BTW many people loved MP. I'd rather have it and not want to play it than not. I'm baffled by the lack of overall love from the community and why some feel it's not good due to a few aesthetic changes whilst ignoring the fact that RockStar dialled everything way, way beyond the initial game and it's sequel. And MP3's story is not as basic as some make out. It is by far the most complex, which is why many don't understand/appreciate the execution/editing/art style. I love the noir New York City stage. It's legendary. That said, MP3 is as good, if not better than the rest (it's certainly a contender for the best action game ever), if you remove nostalgia, and factor in the woeful amount of improvements and overall delivery. Gawd, there's so much I could say. I'm absolutely jazzed. Totally pumped. I think I'll go replay it again! Thank you for your insightful take and love of the craft & experience. I make and present films for an automotive chanel (landroverphotoalbum). I honestly thought about starting a game chanel purely to gift Max 3 the love it deserves. Not since the likes of Quake, C&C, Allied Assault, HL etc has a game impacted so (I'm 46 years old). Hell, as a cinematic game I'd go as far as conteder for the best game ever, when viewed through objective eye's that aren't stuck wanting rinse and repeat yet expanding, adhering to, maintaining and improving the IP to a point that, as with Terminator 2 or Aliens, a sequel is not only unnecessary, it would be an abusive knee-jerk cash-grab by exec's that only think via wallets and/or agendas. Again, thanks for you film. I dig that someone views the experience as I do. PS, I believe the game is going to become a classic with the remaster of the first two imminent. MP3 ages like wine. I feel you could potentially make another two vids if you're feeling it. Technically you've said what needed to be said, however there's always room for 'more' by those who love something. A talented chap such as yourself will find a compelling angle & narrative to roll with. You've certainly earned my sub and everyone else's. I'm now gonna explore the rest of your channel. Cheers!

That is one of the disadvantages of Open world games you pointed out that before the final mission where arthur dies he can spend days and days in doing other activities throughout the world without any sign of decrease in his health. Open world games create an illusion that they are in a rush but the reality is they aren't like moving the camp yeah let just do couple of side activities before I move ... I know the pinkertons are coming at anytime now but still. (Please don't bash me in comment section I love both GTA & RDR Series) On the other hand Games like LA Noire, Manhunt or Max Payne shines because they only focus on the linear story and their is a rush throughout the game.

I really enjoyed this video as I finished Max Payne 3 for the first time about a week ago and I LOVED it, on my third playthrough now trying to get all the difficulties done and it gets funner with every new playthrough. After reading reviews on a few of sites this game didn't get the love it deserved, I personally think Max Payne 1 had a better plot but Max Payne 3 definitely has the best third person action gameplay in the series and of all time in my opinion. Red dead redemption 2 is my favorite game by Rockstar but this one is right behind it ❤️.

I really like Dan Houser's take on the max payne character and I liked rockstar's own approach in making an action game. of course Sam Lake great and im not saying one is better than the other but im glad that rockstar took the risk on changing the tone and going with an older max. I also agree that its kind of hard to go back to play max payne 1 and 2. That said i really like the micheal mann/tony scott style of action which focused on characters who were just super lethal headshotters vs the john woo bullets all over the place style of the first 2 games. It's a really good trilogy altogether and wrapped nicely. I would love an action game that plays like max payne 3 for more of this gameplay thats for sure.

This game got away from me on release. I was in the middle of a big life move, new job, new town, etc. But I remember it's release. Always a big fan of the series, from the original back in 2000 in college. I picked up MP3 on Steam last year some time, and have finally gotten around to playing it. What a game, I'm about 60% through it so far. I have a very new rig (13700k/4070ti) and if you turn up everything on this game, it'll really give it a workout to this day. It still looks phenomenal. Great game, I'd love to see more from the series, but I understand it was to be the finale.

I also wanted to add that the song 9 círculos was also written specifically for the game, the first part of the song it’s mean to express the internal conflict of max while the second part it’s meant to represent the wider political perspective of São Paulo, also the prequel comic makes reference to Marcel Proust writer of the novel in search of lost time which fits with the whole jumping back and forth of the timeline of the game. I think so much love and depth when into the making of this game and I believe is one of the greatest. It’s my favorite game of all time for sure.

Thank you for watching! I have a new video coming out either this weekend or next depending on my schedule, so I hope you’ll stick around to see it 😁

The ending of MP3 really gives Max a proper conclusion to his story, a good satisfying end that leaves Max to let go of his past and his dead family that built on his guilt and inner demons. I don't think Max deserves another sequel, to see him once again goes insanity of killing, just let him having peace. What the series really only need is a remake of the first two games with the new RAGE engine.

the one aspect of this game I loved the most is that no character has a perfection arc , if we didn't have any flaws in the character of max or the people around him . there will be nothing to root to , making us feel empathetic about

I've found out that youtubers who make content on Max Payne games have a greater understanding of video game design. Excellent video dude! Subbed💯
