MATCHBOX Restoration No.K14 Taylor Jumbo Crane 1964
This 50 year old model was going to be difficult. With it's multiple parts and obvious damage I surprised myself by taking it on! - I made a few mistakes along the way but as they say.."You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs!" - The end result is a beautiful model which is going to look great in my collection. I am so glad that I didn't give up half way through but instead, struggled through the difficulties to come up trumps at the end. Let me know what you think and thanks for watching!!

Cracking video and restoration love it love it love it. FYI the “Sunroof” is so the driver can see the crane jib and load when lifting.

Now I think about it that makes perfect sense! Thank you!
Painting the handles, hinges and radiator cap silver was a brilliant idea. Makes the model look more authentic to the real thing.
Really good job on that one. You have the patience of a saint and the mouth of a sailor.

Only you would take the more damaged of the two models and say “challenge accepted”! Then make it look better than when it came out of the factory. You are a true Matchbox Necromancer; resurrecting dead models that others would have chucked. Thank you you for a great video on a Sunday morning.
Great rehabilitation job! I always enjoy seeing the paint color on your fingers after you finish coating the parts. I couldn't have resisted painting the tail lights red on this one! Cheers.
Well, it's like my brother used to say, "When you f--k sh!t up, you really f--k sh!t up!" lol. Despite all the set backs and obstacles on this one though, you managed to pull off an incredible restoration as usual! I guess some cats always land on their feet! Honestly, I loved this video, and you ability to take things in stride, and overcome all of the problems that this model offered up is inspiring! Things were broken, bent, you didn't have the paint you wanted, you doused the stickers in water, and yet you still came up with a masterfully restored Matchbox. You're truly an amazingly dude! Add in your witty sense of humor, and its no wonder that you're the best Matchbox restorer on KZread! You're always fun to watch, and I always look forward to your videos, Marty! Thanks a bunch!

Loston, thank you so much for this comment. it really inspires me to continue to upload content when I hear such positive feedback. At the moment I am moving house and so will be off line for a few weeks, I am frustrated that I cannot get things done. I will be back soon , and hopefully you and others will continue to watch and enjoy my content well into the future. Thank you! Marty.
An OUTSTANDING restoration job!!.. Looks better than it did when it left the Lesney Factory!!.. All of the trials and tribulations you went through paid off handsomely!!.. Keep up the great work Bud!!
Lovely restoration of that model. Love that cheeky Kevin.
Extraordinary work once again. A pleasure to watch from start to finish. Thank you
i like the visible joint on the crane base where you fixed it, gives it a bit more detail in that area of the model.
Great job. That yellow is absolutely spot on.
Thumbs up!! Awesome work Marty!..as always! Always appreciate watching your videos beginning to end. ❤️
A rather complicated model, but well restored the Marty way - excellent job sir! As for soldering, remember: the bigger the blob, the better the job.

@@BigLisaFan Howdy Clare! The fine folks at FanExpoCanada say everything is still on for the Expo in late August, but I recall reading in the Toronto Sun that the province of Ontario has banned all gatherings over 25,000 until August 31, so that would cancel the Expo. Have not been able to confirm if that still applies. I'm still planning on coming to the GTA if FXC happens as scheduled. Hope you're doing well.

Brilliant restore, Marty. Glad you didn't fill that weld - it looks very cool. There is a Japanese word, 'Kintsugi', which means something like 'Golden Joinery', where pottery was repaired with gold, so it stood out, and made the repair as beautiful as the original object. That cool weld is similar to that.
Another difficult, seemingly impossible, restoration, with amazing results. We could use more people with your talents in government - facing the difficult bits with imaginative and creative solutions, following through with confidence and a steady hand, and taking justifiable pride in a job well done! Its a shame that a LIKE is the best we can award...................someone suggest a greater accolade - maybe "Delirious with Admiration"................................
Exceptional work, Marty! Looks like it’s ready for an antique machine show n shine.✨ It might be time you gave Kevin a dose of his own medicine. Hrs gotten the best of you quite a few times now.😁 Thanks for all your hard work. Have a great and safe week.👍🏼🤘🏼😎
Excelente vídeo. Mais uma bela restauração. Aula perfeita.
Hi, Marty! Nice to see you doing actual restoration videos. To quote some guy on the Internet, "I'm happy with that!" Your unboxing videos are fun and all, but they seem to outnumber the restoration videos which are the reason I come here.
Marty's you should be proud. You did a nice job welding that model up I would have tossed it. Cheers!
Well done, Marty! Thanks for including your "broken eggs" as well. They add to the value of the story, at least in my opinion.
Thanks Marty for this new video. As always, you have done an excellent job. Compliments.

Excellent job Marty, my compliments to you on a job well done! Great repair work, thank you for the tip on the "Muggy Weld", a great product for repairs on these small items! Overall, a very enjoyable & informative video! Thank you for the entertainment!
Long time viewer and love them all. One day I’ll get to my collection and send you a few. But the reason I’m commenting is about the mounting system for your hemostats. It gave me a great idea for my tool bench for a completely different item. Goes to show that your channel is more than just a matchbox channel! Thanks Marty and take care
What a beautiful job. Well done, Sir!
Hey Marty. Very pleased to have finally discovered your channel. So many of your restorations are on models I had as a child. I look forward to looking through your videos. Cheers Mike.

Excellent work Marty. The welding work was good. Nice to see there is an option for big repairs. I like the silver details. Just adds a little something.
Love the little touches at the end! You do makeovers after all! make them look their best! Love your work, Marty. Have a good day!
Superb. Came out really well. These King Size models are great, with many working features. I got fooled by the stickers too. That was on a Major Pack M2. The York Freightmaster trailer and Bedford TK prime mover - the other variant with the silver prime mover and maroon trailer. The stickers are plastic or vinyl, and good quality - better than paper stickers. The looks of the Jumbo Crane reminds me of the Tractor in the Forbidden Planet movie.
I love the idea of using a piece of tile to work on.
Yet another great makeover by the legend himself Marty! 🙂❤🇨🇦
Nightmare is an understatement, Marty - - I would have pitched this one across the garage at least three times (and stabbed it with a fish as well)! You're to be congratulated on your patience. You've every right to be pleased with yourself. 😎
I think you may get best neat results from your spring punch when mushrooming axles if you grind them square flat the end instead of leaving with he rough cut done with the piano string cutter pliers. As always awesome result.

Had one of these when we were kids growing up in the early 70’s. Beautiful job making it look like new. Bravo!
Looks very well. Ok, the paint wasn't what you wanted but I certainly think you got lucky with the colour. The windows came up remarkably well. The Muggy Weld looks like a godsend! I had a feeling this one would become quite a sweary business but these things are sent to test us... Good looking model, lovely job!
What a great surprise! Was just turning off the telly and heading off to bed and got your notification. Sleep's for wimps! The lad and I stayed up to take this in. Lovely and challenging makeover. 😁👍👍 Good night!

Hi Marty, The right Man for a Tough job , turned out nice in the end. All the best Brian 🤗
Loved it. I just picked up this same crane yesterday (6-13) at an flea market. Loved the regular but the king size is so nice. Great job in overcoming all those mishaps and shame on Kevin for giving you hot hands.
I love the newspaper headlines! I see Kevin couldn't resist himself today!
13: 33 You should be proud of your efforts, you make a lot of people smile!
Utter genius mate with the bits you had to weld and the finished article is amazing. Great gag reel at the end too chap 😁😄😆
Thank you Marty from little Rhode Island USA...!!!
That yellow is stunning! Great work as always Marty
Always look forward to seeing the headlines on the newspaper liner you use in your spray cabinet!
Wow, that was a wreck! You really did an outstanding job of restoring this model. I had one of these too and it was my favorite. I always like the Matchbox construction and military vehicle the best. By the way the Tamiya Lacquer Thinner can be used in the Tamiya Acrylic paints too. I have not tried it myself but friends of mine have used it and it speeds up the drying time and gives the paint a slightly harder finish.
Have watched many of your makeovers most of the models you have done I had in my toy box many years ago, has brought back so many memories, but wished my parents hadn't chucked out my childhood. Could of given you so many cars for spares or repair..
Beautiful job Marty! I truly love your meticulous way of doing things. I do hope your hand heals quickly after what Kevin did... 🐨
😁Hi Marty & Company! I just wanted say thank-you for these video makeovers! I love 'em.

Fantastic job Marty absolutely amazing..and great job welding...
Marty, you always do a fantastic job with your makeovers. This one may be your best. I really enjoyed watching you work on this model. Tell Kevin, "watch it we got our eye on you". lol Have a good one from Kentucky, USA.
This makeover is a masterpiece! Lovely result!
I have to say I didn't think this would come out as well as it did. Nice work!
Trust me, Marty: those hemostats are lifesavers! I've gotten gel paint stripper on my fingers trying to restore model cars and it burned like the dickens (well, more irritated the skin, is more like it). With hemostats, the piece I'm setting aside temporarily is held in the jaws of locking hemostats and not budging until I want it to!
Let's just say that is master at work anyone they could do that to resurrect deserves applauds Kudos my friend thank you
Terrific make over. Looks a million dollars! Sweet...
Excellent job, it is bettet than new!!!!
Great weld job, you surely did an awesome rebuild
Great crane work, Marty. Enjoyed it very much!
Excellent model marty love the paint finish and what a jigsaw the model is
I was born in 1960 and every weekend my grandparents would take me with them on a drive to pickup milk and eggs from the various small dairies and egg farms around at that time in Los Angeles county and we would pass several heavy equipment rental lots along the highway and I would be fascinated by the different cranes, tractors and earthmovers on the lot as we passed by. We would always finish up by stopping by Mrs. Knott's Chicken Restaurant for a picnic in the tree shaded parking lot of fried chicken and afterwards we would visit the gift shop for unique items for sale and they had a very special selection of the latest new diecast cars and vehicles from Matchbox of England this was even before hot wheels. They had a display case with every vehicle displayed and numbered and a section where the inventory of each one was available in there little box and I was lucky enough to have such a loving family that I could pick a different one each time I visited for myself and developed a large assortment of equipment and a few cars like my all time favorite green lotus Grand Prix car and then I grew up out of earthmovers and equipment to Hot Wheels and my matchbox collection fell into the hands of my less appreciative siblings and now 50 years later all I have is my little green lotus missing it's tires. The words Matchbox triggered this memmoriun, thanks keep up the good stuff !
Super job, Marty. Those welds turned out really well.
Excellent restoration!
Job well done. The colour really stands out.
I love these videos with all the doom and gloom its nice to sit down and dive in to a nice model restoration super satisfying
Really nice resto Marty great job on original problems but also the additional weld you had to do due to the snapped chassis, love the finish nice work 👍😁
Looks like new. You did a fantastic job with this King size model.

That was a good save, I love the detailing that you did with the silver paint.
This one gave you a bit of trouble... Great job on the welding. Looks really good. Thanks Marty

Excellent job all round, super work with the welding, really good to know there is such a thing available. I really liked this one and all the challenges that went with it, must admit I was a little surprised the headline was not" Kevin gets stabbed with fish" following the stunt he pulled off! Fantastic job Marty 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice Job Marty ! Congratulations !
