Matchbox #17D Hoveringham Tipper - Restoration
#Lesney #matchbox #timerider #weelittlecars #restoration #diecast #toy #model
I refer to this as the #17C a couple of times . . . sorry! The Hoveringham Tipper or Foden 8 Wheels Tipper . . . or a red truck.
I did so much with so little for so long that I can now do anything with nothing . . .

I never tire of watching you work your magic on these bygones of British lorries of time gone by. Time rider is an apt title. Spot on with the History lesson of Foden and ERF. Thanks for bringing that back from the brink of extinction.
I have to say that the small history lesson make your video stand out, love it, there is another young English guy that does the same, Jason.
Beautiful job!
Nice story telling as usuall Lee ! I particularly liked this one , I cut my teeth driving Foden and ERF trucks when i started out as a lorry driver .
just beautiful 👍
Really great job!
That turned out nice. All the best.
Big like 👍👍👍
Another nice one sir :)
Nice job Time Rider. Another historical note Hoveringham supplied gravel dug out of quarries. When I was a kid ( a long long time ago ) I would go stay with my family in Notinghamshire , Hoveringham trucks were on the roads around there. every day. Supplying gravel to the newly emerging motorway network. 1950s
Excellent work. Colours that really "pop" and lift the model. Surprised it never had a window unit. I thought most BPW era models had them. The build off is a collaboration. An exposition of each restorers skills. All the models turn out much improved from the starting point.

matchbox also had the exact same model in king size , so maybe it was viewed as a lesser model
Top restoration Lee. You are without doubt one of my favourite matchbox posts. You give me sheer JOY. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Mate.
When I was a kid I loved this truck I got two of them. One had a crooked decal printed on one side, so call it a true restoration! The paint colors look spot on as if new.👍🏻👍🏻
Another A+ across-the-board Lee! I always liked how you get the hidden background history on your restos
Loving the truck. Great work. The shine on the cab is excellent
A tipper that wasn't played with in the garden?! What a waste!🚚🌿
You nailed the paint buddy! She looks great!
such a nice old car. would be nice to see the old foden cement mixer in that livery to…..

Very Nice, oh yeah "We'll LEAVE THE LIGHT ON FOR YOU"
Check out bob willis. He's a corgi restoration dude. Genius old school rattle can man
Hoveringham must be where the British air cushion/ground effect vehicle industry is based.

Lee will only do a straight restoration as Matchbox painted it. Creamy white over salmon pink. Matchbox paint job was unique for that car!
acrylic paints do dry a little darker than they are when wet due to the carrier medium , it isn't an issue with oil based as the oil is clear in both states
i have 2 of these, one in original condition, the other has a 51C tipper body with the Pointer wording.
Instead of calling it a build off , why not just call it a community build? Love your videos .
I’m glad you cleared it up for people. This is an amazing hobby and you all do great things. Keep up the awesome work.
The paint came out better than factory, to bad about that one decal. 👍🏼👍🏻👍😄
Time Rider that’s awesome friend! Keep up the great work!
Hey Lee. I always say the more wheels the better. I like how the paint turned out without having to use a clear coat. Decals are always a drag. See you soon.
I have just purchased this casting for £3.00, around $5.00. It is in good condition and has the flippy tail gate in tact. Great restoring.
Great work on this tipper. I always learn a bit about each casting.(that's fun for me) I wanted to take a moment and invite you to a Build off (for lack of a better term) we will be doing shop trucks and the deadline will be September 1st. I hope you can join us.

A couple of questions . . . Define shop truck a bit more . . . maybe an example? Who all is in this deal? I agree also that the research is a part of the enjoyment.

@@TimeRider Yes, a truck you would use around the garage to pick up parts, pull a car trailer etc. This doesn't have to be a "truck", it can be a station wagon, a sedan delivery, a van, a flatbed or pickup. Stock or customized and can also sport your shop name and logo. The idea is that with all the different people who are in our hobby and from lots of different places one thing most shops have is a truck and it's usually a 4 wheeled business card. With this in common we can get a big part of the community together and have a fun build, no matter Hot wheels or Matchbox, stock restored or complete custom. There are 10 of us in so far. Hodge's, matchbox resurrection, opa's diecast, Hansen speed shop, outlaw speed shop, one sixty four revival, and I can't think of the rest off hand.

@@deepjunkgarage Well thanks for the invite. I'll have to think about it. I've got a lot on my plate right at the moment (not diecast related although that too) and I've already passed on a couple of these.

AWESOME job dude Can't wait to see that Majorette Range Rover Yup TR.....you do you! I like that....
Terrific job on the tipper truck, Lee. I think part of the problem is the use of the term "build-off." People tend to equate that with competition. Personally, I see it as a comparison of skills and imagination. The Formula 5000 series of videos shows that. You, Paulie and George all did similar, but different approaches to the task. That's what I look for in the collective videos. So keep up the good work and we'll see you at the next video.

hi agent TR. i very much like watching you fix these tiny little cars. i really didnt have much fun with my hot wheels and matchbox cars. i was making the noises but i was having any enjoyment. i went to 1/64 slot car racing. then i didnt have to make the engine noises. mow im older and my toys have just gotten more expensive. im in the process of building two hot rod pick-up trucks. you might enjoy this i just had a set of wheels made for one of my truck. the four wheels are 2560.00 with a 275.00 shipping charge. do more 911 please. porsche lately just went around the nurburgrig in 6:40 and that is moving. i dont even think a apache helicopter could catch that. i live in phoenix and i had a apache helicopter pass me and in was going about150 mph. love you work agent TR.
Very nice work , truck came out great. As always . Mike Espo...........Do then T Bird next , OK ?
Curses, pantsed again! 😆 (Good thing the lights were off... 😉)
Lory looks great. Where did you get the tailgate. The bench projects look great.

You know, I can't remember where I got it. I've actually had this a while . . . Recovertoy I think!
I loved the GT when I was a kid. Probably more than the green dog car. Hey, I thought the term "build off" implied a kind of competition. I understand the nature if the relationship. I want you to know that I really struggled because I really enjoy your channel and am a big fan. Needless to say I won't be voting on the GTs.

I don't use the term "Build Off."
Could you make one of these into a Pointer or Douglas ?
Cool, but wasn't that superglue?
We know but when one clearly shines Above the Rest it is so hard not to call that person the winner hope we haven't offended anyone
@TimeRider

I don't think anyone was offended.
On the other side , Can make a 51 C into a Hoveringham ?
nice restoration but in my opinion the paint is a little to thick and rather masks the fine detail of the model . I feel a lot of restorations use to much paint.

Sorry Margaret, but I'm going to have to throw the "Bullshit" flag here. The "Foden" badge in the grille of this toy is about 1/32 of an inch tall and yet you can literally read *EVERY* letter, see every contour of the badge, the grille and the headlights. kzread.info/dron/Rr_WxhUUG_A8hCuX8OkdDQ.htmlcommunity?show_create_dialog=1 Your criticism is without foundation. If you don't like it, I'm fine with that, just say so. Don't spew bullshit.
