Mark sings it with emotion because he wrote the lyrics, He believes in this song with his entire soul.

I get chills down my spine and a tear in my eye every time I hear "This sleeping child you're holding is the great I Am". Never fails.

WOW WOW WOW This is the best version..."you kiss the face of God". Can you imagine?!? I do not care how many times I hear this, it is worship!. I start to tear up. Start to pray to my Savior, thanking Him for His willing to go to the cross on my behalf that I may live forever walking streets of gold and worshipping with other saints for all eternity. I agree on your masterpiece comment. It has become a Holiday regular for me. By far the best rendition of this song.

24 beats on the ‘Lamb’ note, I am truly amazed!! Truly easy to see how he wrote this song for his own vocal abilities, as many vocalists could not hold the note for that long!

At 1:58, Mark just nods and smiles at the progression and buildup. *this is how it should be sung*, thinks the master.

I have absolutely no idea how to describe the feeling I get from the chords being sang in this song. But it overwhelms me to the point of genuine tears. Bravo. This is what I would consider a perfect arrangement.

@@daveburnsmusic - I was blessed to work at a ministry/ radio network for 15 years and met both men on numerous occasions. Buddy Greene has to be the most humble and kindest man. What always floored me with Mark is I first met him as the "Christian Comedian", then he comes out with THIS! I never drew the line between him and the gathers for the longest time... duhhhh....

The soprano singing in the upper register...WOW!!! This group is incredible. I am moved by their sound.

I'm a singer at my church in the choir and in a 12 person group. As a person that has been given talents from the Lord to use for his honor and glory I can truly say that this is an amazing version acapella of Mary did You know. It affected me. I love vocals with no music. It's beautiful how God made the voices to blend together so beautifully. We are nothing without God. We can't even take credit for our own talents because God is the giver of all talents. When I sing, something happens in my soul that just opens up to God. I love singing for the Lord and I thank him for the talents he has given me and I want him to use them for his honor and glory. I love seeing other people that are born again do the same. You can win souls with your singing talent. Music can get into people like nothing else, the right kind of music, godly music. I don't know if anybody noticed but it's worthy to be re-recognized that there was a gentleman that responded in the comment section that he said he was an old atheist and he said how this brought a tear to his eye every time he listens to it. No doubt, the Lord had a hand in that and perhaps now he's no longer an atheist. I would encourage all children of God to keep that man in prayer. God has a lot to work with there to bring him to repentance, to bring him to Jesus. He may not know it but Jesus is calling him to come home. Please pray for him. Thank you for this song. It is beautiful

A couple of people have mentioned that this version is better than Pentatonix. It’s honestly not even a contest. This quality and nuance of their harmonies make them truly special. The fact that the creator of this amazing song consented to sing this with them really says something. Mark was part of a group called the Gaither Vocal Band who’s harmonies and blending are the stuff of legends.

@@marchyman3993 The lead vocalist is Mark Lowry. He wrote the lyrics many years ago. He sent them to another Gospel artist named Buddy Greene to write the music. Two days later, Buddy called Mark and sang his song to him. Both amazingly talented guys. The song has been covered by many artists over the years. The most popular would probably be the Gaither Vocal Band (the quartet Mark was a part of for many years), Kenny Rogers with Wynonna Judd, and my personal favorite, Pentatonix.

That is the FIRST thought that came to my mind. It sounds angelic. Absolutely stunning and done in such excellence.

Before this I thought the Pentatonix version was the best version and no one could top it, but Mark's voice has such a story teller quality to it, and Voctave's usual great mixing and control adds an ambience behind it all that is unmatched. I feel like I just saw a movie with Mark as the wise narrator telling us his story.

Just stunning. I've heard several beautiful versions of this song, but now know the difference when someone believes the words with his whole heart. The joy and genuine love in his face and voice is just so moving.

The quality of those voices is insane. And Mark Lowry held that note while SITTING DOWN!! This version of this song is such a blessing and I listen to it all throughout the year.

I have never heard anything more beautiful in my life! And the moment when he held that note and the soprano took it on to Heaven left me with chills. *bravo*

Nobody nails it as well as Mark Lowry, this song. The difference between him and other singers is that he has that special talent of bringing out the soul from the song.

Everyone talks about Mark's 18 second G.....let's not forget at the end he holds the phrase "the great I Am" also for 18 seconds (at the END of a powerful performance)!

I love this version of this song. I shed tears each time. The power of this song just gives me shivers. Every note compliment each other really well. The group enhance Marks voice and create a dramatically airy sound that allows you to visualise the song. The soprano singer sends chills down my spine every time. I constantly listen to this song and never get sick of listening to it.

This is definitely how this song should be sung, So beautiful.

I love how at the end Mark closes his eyes as if to just take in that beautiful final note by Kate

Go get one of those Arizona Tea cans, or something of the same size. Put one end against the wall, and lean against the other end with your diaphragm and your forehead against the wall. Now, push yourself away from the wall just by breathing. That's called a diaphragm pushup. Do about twenty of those a day, and you will be surprised how much breath control you get when it comes to holding notes.

Listening to Mark Lowery and Voctave sing this touched me. This is now one of my very top favorite songs.

What a performance!!! The choir is awesome and Mark out did himself! This is my favorite Christmas song. Thank you Mark for not only performing it but writing it!! This was just magnificent!!

Greatest Version of this Great song that I have EVER Heard. Mark's vocals are above and beyond anything that I have heard in ANY Genre of music. I love when groups like this perform a capella versions of songs, with the original artist!

I'm amazed at how simple, yet how dynamic this song is. Yes, the orchestration and vocals are out of this world, but the lyric itself is beyond beautiful. I can only imagine a new mother looking at her newborn child, so in love yet knowing there is a reason for Him being here. That child would go on to touch lives for centuries to come. Would do all that was said in this song and more, and by His name ALONE can still do mighty things just as He did physically as he walked in person healing, touching lives. Mary knew He was great, but couldn't ever imagine the extent of His purpose. That sleeping child, the great I AM will return. Your baby is God incarnate, the creator of everything.

I think this is a beautiful look at what we can only imagine Mary might have been thinking about when she first looked into the face of her new born baby Jesus. It says that 'Mary pondered all of these things in her heart" that she had been told by the angel of the LORD about who this baby would be.

There are just “no words,” to adequately describe what a person is hearing when listening to “VOCTAVE.” Definitely the “sound of angels.”

@@fezzik7619 angels do exist. Mary was visited by an angel and so was her cousin Elizabeth who was also gifted with a miracle baby. When Jesus was born, shepherds heard angels singing and they spoke the shepherds and told them the good news.

This is my absolute favorite song and I always cry when listening to it especially after hearing Pentatonic do it, but this tops it all and I could not never cry because I am so mesmerized by the anointing I feel listening to this song. Thank you for this because it has blessed my life so much and it is on repeat as I type this message. God bless all of you.
