Let us sing the heroism of Martin Barre. Amazing guitarist. Decent flute and fantastic mando player. Arranger extraordinaire. The half of Jethro Tull that could actually interpret the ideas that were going on in Ian's head...To what might have been of two long sharpened knives of early 70's Anderson and Barre, and forgiveness of the ego of what is.

Martin Barre was a intricate part of Jethro Tull. Without him, no Jethro Tull!!

Holy sh*t, what a show in Indy last night. In spite of the dingiest venue in town, Martin and his band thoroughly and graciously rocked the house nearly down! Actually the dark medieval surroundings were nearly perfect and surreal for such a performance. Rock on, Martin. Great tribute to an all time phenomenal rock opera…. 👍👍

A great show! Thanks for sharing. This and so many other, less known Tull classics were presented with raw power and stunning execution. The band should be renamed "Martin Barre, Unleashed". This brings back the power of the early Tull shows and combines it with the musical sophistication that exists in this band. They need more publicity - on radio and online. Martin's new music deserves a wider audience that appreciates hard rock with style. A DVD of live performance will hopefully come.

After the recent release by Ian, I looked at what Martin was doing. What a joy to hear the great, early Tull songs played with such energy and fresh enthusiasm. Martin's 50 years of Jethro Tull is a beautiful collection of the very best music. This really deserves more recognition as great Tull music.

10/03/2022 - only the 21st comment? Tull was my first rock concert at age 15, July 25, 1976 at the Pontiac Silverdome north of Detroit. Rick Derringer was the opener followed by Robin Trower. Smoke-filled arena, joints going back and forth along the row. Pretty heady stuff for a 15-year-old. Barre is amazing. So is the singer/guitarist. Pretty damn good 4-piece band!!

Martin has the energy Ian has lost. Well done, Dan gets bagged a lot, but his vocal here is great.

Yeah, Dan isn't Ian ca. 1971, but who is? Ian hasn't sounded particularly good vocally since the mid 80s and now it's painful to hear him sing the old songs in particular. I prefer seeing Martin with Dan.

Great singer; actually harkens back to a younger Ian Anderson.

If by "harkens back" you mean creepily imitates Anderson's facial expressions and mannerism, then yeah.

The last time I saw Ian live, this was the song where you could really see (& hear) how inferior Florian Ophale is to Martin Barre as a guitar player. But, as David Pegg noted, Ian will hire whoever plays for the least money and lets him have the spotlight.

That's not how the song starts, what the hell is wrong with you people? The new Jethro tull doesn't play this song right either I like the original arrangement..

There is no single right way to perform a song. Great bands never play the same song twice. You have the studio recording for that.

Would rather see the Martin Barre Band with excellent singing (and obvious outstanding musicianship) than listen to the painful, awful attempt at singing by Ian Anderson.
