When someone with rare talent shows up and uses it for good causes in the name of God, people can label that person as a special gift from God and it makes sense. Nobody can sing this song with the same arrangement, low notes, runs, cristal clear belts and perfect pitch, but the transitions are the part that is really impossible to replicate, the few who have tried never perform the same transition as Mariah especially in the chorus. Hil E. kinda chuckled on the thoughts that the way you speak of hers as if she has died or something.. but yeah the 'young' Mariah is kinda 'dead' and I hate to say that! especially that scene from 2:00 to 2:09, she's full of confidence, moves around, can go up the stairs running without being escorted, milky white skin without fake tan, and of course her golden voice!! Thank you for not calling her the tacky "songbird supreme" like so many others do. A songbird sounds lovely and pretty and is comforting to hear. Mariah is more than that. Celine Dion is a songbird so are most singers in existence. Mariah is premium quality and not just for the vocal acrobatics that is now common these days but for the whole package that nobody has duplicated and never will duplicate. She has a distinct tone and style that alone is far more appealing than that of most famous singers, who get grating after awhile. I never tire of listening to Mariah's beautiful instrument.

People do not understand that the way Mariah is now is the real Mariah. All through the 90s Sony owned her soul; she dressed, talked and sang like they told her to. She has ALWAYS wanted to infuse her music with hip hop and R&B and Tommy Motola would not have it, which is why "Do You Think of Me" didn't make the final album cut for Music Box and "Slipping Away" didn't make Daydream, because the record company thought they sounded too urban. The Mariah you saw in 1994 wearing turtlenecks and standing there looking pretty singing ballads all day never was who she wanted to be. Granted, I love all of her music from 1990 til now, but people need to realize that there is no "new Mariah".

It’s not that the music industry doesn’t recognize her talent. They just don’t honor her for it. I’d say they’ve been gaslighting her her entire career since the breakup with Mattola, making her second guess her vocal ability and feel like she has to prove herself. They try and sabotage her and make her feel like she’s not good enough.

MARIAH CAREY IS THE ONLY ARTIST WHO USED HER LIVE CONCERT AS SOME OF HER "OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO".. WHAT A BRILLIANT GOD GIVEN VOICE YOU HAVE!!!!

singing is suppose to be easy. if it is not easy then you shouldn't even try to sing.it must be natural like mariah. not forced like certain AA singers.

I wish I had been born decades early growing up listening to her music, Mariah Carey is a vocal genius indeed. She is impeccable.

It just hit different every time I heard she sang. No one can compete when it comes to Mariah's voice

Mariah is the only female singer artist on the planet that has all the extraordinary quality of voice needed to please the ears of every human being. She sounds so beautiful and unique either high/low or whistling , she can control her voice in a sense that from very high note then sudden change to low which is not common to all the singers as it's difficult to do, notice that whenever she sings she always put all her emotions to it so listeners and herself itself can relate and feel the message of her songs that adds to overall impact of music to our ears. She is destined to be the only legendary singer of all time even at this generation with lots of singers popping in the music industry no one still reached the level of Mariah Carey

....she talks about that in her book....she is very flattered....she has such a technical excellence...and an emotional range...that is staggering...and the Japanese...are so ritualistic and reserved...the tension and release between the two...makes perfect sense...and is quite beautiful...

WOW, this song just " PERFECT ", written perfectly and sung perfectly by the one and only Mariah Carey. No one could ever touch this song, there's no one could ever sing all of her song except Mariah herself. All of her songs written only just for her to sing. I'm in love with her, her voice is just EPIC, she's smart, funny, modest, humble, poise, generous. This song deserves to be #1.

I miss the days when people just came on stage and sang. Look at how simple the lighting and her wardrobe is. People come for the voice!!! That crowd is enormous and yet her performance visually was very simple and she her fans are screaming!!! I love it.

It is 2024, as a Mariah fan for over 30 years, why am I only hearing this for the 1st time??? Why wasn't this #1?? What a wonderful song OMG!!

I love this part of mariah's career from 1990 onwards till about 1998, no fancy "dance moves", no crazy dresses, no diamond microphone, just mariah, a simple mariah and a great voice, this is what singing is all about, the voice that moves people. everytime when I look at mariah's old video, it reminds me what I loved her so much.

I miss when Mariah's live voice used to sound like (if not better) in the CD/cassette. If you were not even born yet when 'Music Box' or 'Daydream' were released and you think that 'We belong together' is something of her best, you just won't understand the whole meaning of what I'm saying. The Sony Era was just magic, she was the voice of a whole generation. It's fair that now she adresses her music to a younger and, thus, different audience but I just simply don't belong there, I don't fit in. 'My' Mariah was the Sony Era's one so, please, respect it as well as I respect those whose Mariah is the Emancipation Era's one. Peace & Love!

Indeed. That was my point. That people respect those of us who lived and loved the Sony Era and let us enjoy our 90s Mariah without being so unfairly judgemental because of things Mariah herself had later explained. Believe me, back in the 90s she really was enjoying her music, her videos, her concerts, her different styles and so on. She was having fun, we could enjoy her back and believe me she wasn't a prisoner in chains. In 1997 when she said that 'Butterfly' was her best album yet, her most personal, I did believe it because she was meaning it. And if you've seen those videos talking about the Sony Era right know, except for her 3 first albums (although she doesn't deny the high quality of those wonderful records), she's finally recognizing that Music Box, Daydream, Butterfly, #1's or Rainbow were of the most memorable times in her life. She's back at Sony, nonetheless... but in the mid 2000s she started this kind of crusade of discrediting her own work by stating those terrifying legends about the Sony Era that seems to have finally come to an end. And those legends had been since then the discrediting point to those of us who still appreciate the Sony Era as her best. She didn't Tommy Motola in chains, she wasn't stuck in the castle they lived in and she did make her own decisions, probably the most important ones ever, like transitioning to a more contemporary style with Daydream.

Her voice and her discography deserve to be memorialized in the pantheon of music.

I can't even imagine what it would feel like to open my mouth to sing and have such a breathtaking, goose bump causing, hair standing on the back of your neck, tear jerking, out of this world beautiful voice like that. Just for 1 day I would love to be able to sing like that and amaze people. Imagine wowing people just with the sound of your voice. She is so blessed and talented, now and forever.

I can't help but cry everytime i hear this song any song hero, when i believe, i still believe, never forget you. I bawl like a baby in class we have tablets at my school when i get on and listen to her songs i just want to cry. I could care less who see's me crying at 16 i love mariah forever a lamb. I just people from my generation of music could take time to actually listen to her. Stop saying she's old can't sing before you judge take just a day out of your day to anyone from my generation who thinks she's old can't sing. When it comes down to it She's a legend forget just for one second about 5th harmony, justin bieber etc just listen. Forever a lamb.

In fact, I somewhat expect them to be able to nail a variety of songs. Let me say this first: No one can outdo Whitney on her hardest songs and no one can outdo Mariah on any of her hardest songs. Anyway, back to what I said: You cannot sing I Will Always Love You without good technique. It’s literally impossible. Now, can you do it without professional training? Sure. But you must have proper breath control, power, diction, a developed head and chest voice, etc. in order to sing the song. You cannot get those without good technique. Neither of their songs can be sang without good technique. I don’t get why you even said any of that as if it changes my point.
