March 2020 - COVID-19 Edition!

Thank you to all my new subscribers! I’m still here, in Melbourne Australia, when I should have been in Chicago the day I recorded this video (March 21, 2020). United Airlines is soon to stop flying into Australia (March 28). Fear of flying patients might feel relieved because the need to fly is now vastly reduced, but I’m suggesting it’s a great time to really work on your fears and anxieties especially in these challenging times.
When you’ve achieved some mastery you’ll be ready to put your skills to the test when commercial flying starts up again. Airlines will be eager to put their aircraft and crews back in the air and will likely knock start their business with very cheap fares you can take advantage of.

Thanks very much for your videos! They have really helped me with me fear. I had a big trip over Christmas where took a plane from Auckland to Chicago and then to Las Vegas, Las Cabo and then back home. On a few of the Planes there was a lot of turbulence which I use to have a massive fear of! When this was happening I used the techniques from your video and it really helped! I was still pretty uncomfortable with it but I made it through it. Watching your videos before I fly always help with my nerves. So please don't stop making them 😁 haha. Thanks again!

You're very welcome and I'm glad you had a wonderful trip, despite all the anticipatory distress. Each trip you do where you action all you've learnt recalibrate your threat alarm system. It goes off less often and needs more information to kick in, rather than less. The task will be to keep up your hours while we sort through the COVID-19 airline situation. Keep practising a few times per week using the inflight videos, and have someone shake your chair!

Andrew Dotson you’re very welcome Andrew. Any suggestions about areas not yet covered or needing more explanations or reinforcements?

@@lesposen I would like to see more videos covering Covid-19 and ways to deal with all the uncertainty. Not necessarily the flying part but the financial impact and disruptions. A lot of people here in the US are losing their jobs and investments are being hit hard. Hoping it will bounce back soon.

@@dotsona07 Food for thought... I will use this one KZread channel to put up a mix of videos - some for fear of flying, some for COVID-19 anxiety (talk about lived experience!), and others for colleagues trying to get their heads around Telehealth. Better they're all on the one channel than splintering.
