I'll never forget being in 7th grade living in my home in Seattle, WA, waking up at 7:00 a.m. on October 2nd, 2017, and heading to the living room to get my phone. When I turned on my screen, I only saw one notification. A single headline: LAS VEGAS MASSACRE - At least 50 dead, 200 more injured I know, that doesn't sound so traumatizing since I wasn't actually there but given that I was just in Las Vegas earlier that summer, it felt slightly closer to home. When I went to Vegas again the following summer, my grandma warned me not to aim my laser pointer at the city, which we had a clear view of from our resort near North Las Vegas. She said that the shooter had laser pointers on his guns and if you aimed it at the city, it could really scare some of the people who were there that night. That was the day I think I really understood what trauma meant and what it does to people, it's not something you can just get over after a few days. Not all scars are on your skin, some are lying right there on the top of your mind. My condolences go out to all of the families who suffered losses on such a tragic day.

You guys clearly don't understand the physics of sound. It may sound like there's a second shooter but it was actually echo coming from stephens gunfire. When the sound waves from gunfire hit on a hard surface, like a wall of a building, the waves bounce off the surface and come back making the sound again but weaker. But if you have something to prove that there were more shooters, i would love to hear it.

Did you know that during the Las Vegas shooting Stephen Paddock supposedly spent 3000 rounds of ammunition over the course of 10 minutes from 27 AR15's with bump stocks. This would have required him to drop a gun after each 30 round magazine was emptied. But videos from survivors show that it was a non-stop stream with ammunition from firing much higher than a bump stock is capable of producing from multiple locations that appear to be M240 LMG's. More interesting is the fact that after the FBI took over the investigation his house somehow burned down with all the evidence, and the photos from the room where he shot from only shows 50 spent shells. Years later we still have no motive and there was no follow up on the biggest mass shooting in US history.

R R uhhhh first of all I never said anything about Islam being an evil religion, you can practice what ever you want in America and I support that. What I don’t support is people like you who are trying to take guns away without even knowing what the amendment is really about. It was mainly created to protect ourselves from an oppressive government, therefor allowing for people to organize and unite against a corrupt and tyrannical state. Plus there are plenty of reasons why taking away guns from law abiding citizens is a bad thing. Think logically. If criminals are going to commit crimes they are going to do it on the most efficient way possible through the use of GUNS whether they be illegal or not and taking away that right leaves us vulnerable. @@85tillinfinity37 That's what happened anyway, the trampling. A lot of people were injured by others in the panic to get out. All I know is that when I've spent a lot of time in a darkened area, suddenly turning on the lights makes it harder to see for a few seconds until my eyes adjust. Dunno if the shooter had the same problem, but if so, once his vision adjusted he had a well lit target area to see where people were going. With the lights out he would've had to guess where people were, as they didn't say anything about him having night vision goggles. Don't get me wrong, I'm *not* saying the person who turned the lights on meant to make things easier for the shooter. I'm sure he/she did it because they thought like you, to help people escape. Just saying that going forward, if this ever happens again, turning on the lights might not be a good idea.

It is strange. My wife has gone to every Jason concert with our daughter for the previous 7 or 8 years prior to this particular concert, each time he got even remotely close. This one time his concert was just not possible. We were so shocked at such a tragic thing could happen at a Jason concert, and even more terrified that had she been able to go, they would have been there. Now when something comes up and we are not able to do something, this puts things into perspective. You just never know how, or why things unfold the way they do. I can remember being in a TGI Fridays back in the day when they were open, and used to do the NTN trivia thing nationwide. We always went there to eat and play a bit. One night we went, after we ate, we found out the trivia thing was down. So we left. That night on the 10pm news there was a story of a gunman going into the place and shooting randomly. Based on when it happened, we couldn't have been gone for more than 15 minutes when it happened. So you just never know why things unfold the way they do.

I have a similar story but related to 9/11. My uncle was a firefighter in Engine 54 in NYC. Earlier in 2001 he had gotten into a car wreck which required surgery and rehab on one of his legs, so he was put on light duty in Division 1. On the day of the attack he was at home in Staten Island starting his vacation leave and getting ready to fly out the next day to visit his parents in Florida. He was outside in his backyard studying for his upcoming captains exam when he learned of the attack. Weeks later he learned that everyone working E-54 that day was killed. “When they say god works in mysterious ways, I then understood why I was in that car wreck”. He just retired a few weeks back, October 2022, as a Battalion Chief. 37 years as a firefighter and thankful he’s still around.

My wife and I just went to Vegas. We just happened to get a room a couple of floors away below Paddock’s. It was so bizarre. You could pretty much see his POV. He had an perfect birds eye view of the venue. I saw it. It was almost like looking straight down on it. I could see the airport right behind the venue. You could see the fuel tanks that he hit. You could see everything. Everything seemed amazingly closer in person than it looks on video. He had to have stayed at that room or surrounding rooms already many times to think this through. It was too perfect of a room to do something like this. What an evil angry man. A waste.

@@shoazdon7000 I could be conflating two incidents, but from what I remember, there was a nanny on the 32nd floor that had triggered a room alarm, so a security guard was notified. The guard was doing nighttime rounds and was on either the 31st or 33rd floor and took the stairs down to try and access the 32nd floor but Paddock had put a doorjam on the stairway exit door. He made a call to maintenance to fix what he thought was just a jammed door, and got on the elevator to get to the 32nd floor. When he got out, he started to go to the nanny's room but Paddock heard the elevator and started shooting down the hallway at the guard. The nanny had been across the hall speaking to her charge's parents and got stuck there when the shooting started. The baby was asleep across the hall and reunited with the family once they were able to evacuate the floor.
