I'm Sicilian and we have traditional fried ball doughnuts called Sfinge, obviously a food influenced by Muslim rule in medieval times.

Growing up I was always told to be a shamash , they provide the light to the others. Will have to try your donut recipes. I hope you had a great holiday.

My grandmother makes something like this, however, she puts the donut, after it is cooked, in a paper bag with sugar and gently to rotates it a few times.

@@danascookbook funnel cakes are fried dough that is coated in powdered sugar. We see them at the fairs in town. Also, we see fried Oreo cookies. They fry everything at the fair. 😋

Thank you for this recipe Dana! I will certainly do this for next year Hanukkah. In the meantime I will try it out next week just for fun. We always fry our own Latkes and buy the sufganiyot. Nothing beats home made. Todah rabah! 😊💜

Hi Dana! Is frying in the pan first to set the outside of the donut? I have never seen this method, very interesting. I hope you had a very Happy Hanukkah!
