Making a New Zealand Pale Ale - Dark Rock Marlborough Mist

Ойын-сауық

It's homebrew time again! Check out this all grain kit.
This time we picked up a Marlborough Mist All Grain Kit from Dark Rock Brewing.
It tasted absolutely amazing, despite some questionable levels on the brewing salt additions, and some questionable hop pronunciations by Penny.

Crafted with a distinctive blend of premium New Zealand Motueka, Riwaka, Nelson Sauvin, Moutere, and Superdelic hops, this brew offers an exquisite harmony of flavours and aromas. Balanced perfectly with the subtle sweetness of Extra Pale and Melanoidin malt, each sip delivers a satisfying taste experience. Prepare to be enchanted by the unique character of this New Zealand Pale Ale - a true embodiment of brewing excellence. This kit produces 40 pints at 4.8% ABV.
LIMITED EDITION SERIES
We produce small batches of these beers and offer them for a limited period to commemorate special occasions or experiment with new flavours. Each kit contains the highest quality malts and a choice of premium yeast varieties. We select only the freshest hops, supplying them vacuum-packed in light-proof foil pouches. We include a sachet of Pure Brew to guarantee the production of commercial-quality beer. Please provide feedback on your experience and you may see these kits launched as a permanent addition to the Dark Rock beer kit range.
WHAT MAKES THE DARK ROCK ALL-GRAIN RANGE SO SPECIAL?
Dark Rock Brewing’s All-Grain Beer Kits provide everything you need to make a superb ale. All-grain brewing is a rewarding process, which puts you in full control of your brewing. It takes a little longer than making a standard beer kit or partial mash but the results are absolutely stunning. All-grain mash brewing is great fun and really allows you to develop the necessary skills to master your craft. Each kit utilizes commercial-quality malt and hops, emphasizing freshness in the brewing process.
Dark Rock’s all-grain Mash Kits represent fantastic value too. We have meticulously researched and perfected each recipe to ensure it delivers the best possible taste. You only buy the exact amount of ingredients you need so there is no waste. Unlike making up your own recipe you will not have leftover quantities.
With all-grain brewing, it is important not to keep stocks of grains and particularly hops at home for long periods. The quality deteriorates quickly. Therefore, it does not make sense to buy larger quantities of grains and hops than you need. We weigh Dark Rock All-Grain Kits to the exact quantities required for each brew, ensuring the freshest ingredients and excellent value. We store hops in temperature-controlled rooms and vacuum-pack them immediately upon opening. This ensures the optimum quality of your brew.

Good looking beers, fellas. I'm a pommie that has moved to NZ so thought I'd help out with the pronunciations. Say them quickly... Motueka - Mo-too-wekka Riwaka - Ree-war-ka Sauvin - Just like Sauvignon Blanc wine Moutere - Moo-te-ree I'm sure I'll get slated for that but...

I'm a pommie that moved to NZ MANY years ago, and you're right you're gonna get slated! 🤪 I actually spent some time familiarising myself with Māori vowels and diphtong sounds, and I will say most non-Māori locals commonly mispronounce Māori words. So as best as can be shown phonetically, I think they'd be pronounced more like the following: Motueka - mor-to-eka Riwaka - Ree-wah-kah Moutere - mow-teri Either way, regardless... the NZPA does look and sound rather tasty!

I ordered this one today, hope to brew Saturday. Really pleased I chose it based on this review. Did you ferment under pressure?

No, it was fermented in a chubby but with the sounding valve all the way open so no pressure build up.
