    Get this Justin. This morning I'm making my Hot Shot delivery in Scottsdale AZ. Backing on to a door and wouldn't you know it. 3 Canadian Geese wandering around the docks. They were eye balling my Rig so I told them, "Ya'll in the wrong State. Justins not here!"

    Justin, just a suggestion. Take pictures of your trailer before getting loaded and any time you drop a trailer anywhere. 4 pictures of dropped loaded trailer and 5 before getting loaded. Picture angles ; front, sides, rear with door closed, then one of the inside of the trailer from ground level at rear. This covers all areas any damage might be done to it . It may sound like a pain, but it can save you from any further $600.00 fixes.

  • @mikeahs06

    @mikeahs06

    No point in making an insurance claim for 600 bucks in this industry. Saddly it was probably a yard jockey that did it but the company will never admit it so you got to chalk it up as a loss. Company I work for gets trailers damaged at American Standard all the time so we stopped leaving an empty down there so we make them live load it bc it isn't worth the headache of damaged trailers.

    Justin is a very patient man. I bet they have the damage on a security video somewhere! I plowed at many trucking companies and anytime if you chipped a curb or scratched a yellow poll, you were in trouble. There would be people from every department and sometimes the neighbors, coming out to assess the damage. I think if you hit a truck,trailer, or building, the “electric chair”! Your stuff, doesn’t matter.

    During my 12 yr run as a union carpenter, I was known as a fisherman. This apprentice from the city wanted to go fishing, so I invited him to my humble country home, and he and his girlfriend came down to go fishing. Knowing both of them were city folk I decided to just take them to the local reservoir where they wouldn't get into any trouble. My mistake ... A goose and gander were there with their little ones, minding their own business when my co-workers girlfriend said "Awww... look at the baby ducks!" she looked at her boyfriend and asked him if she could pet one of the babies ... He looked at me and feeling mean after tolerating him being a real ass all morning, I said "Sure! Just grab one!" He was wearing shorts, and to cut the story short, he was bleeding from several places on the backs of his legs before he could lock himself in his car, and I don't feel bad as I kept yelling at him, telling him to drop the baby goose ... I should be ashamed ... but I'm not ... lol

    I hate when companies drag their feet all the time they could so easily have that trailer unloaded in 30 mins but nope gotta be difficult because someone can't make a decision, Had a friend here in the UK wait 5 hours to be unloaded after a failed unload day before while getting there 3 hours before closing, Took a call to his big boss (owner) and he said just leave and I will cancel their contract with us and pay you double this week still there 6 years later.

    Used to work there. Couple quick facts about GE in Louisville… part of the location choice was to be in the same time zone as the NY Stock exchange. Which Louisville changed which makes Louisville the furtherest west for an eastern time zone. All was built during WWII and certain accommodations were made during the time. Factory was built to be able to convert for future war efforts. With that in mind the property doubles as a airport terminal. From the center of building 1 to the center of building 5 is 1 mile. Building 6 burnt down in a freak fire 2015-2017. Road/runway extended well past building 6 plenty of space for planes to take off and land. Anyway just a little USA war effort history and mapping of time zone history. “End of the lesson” Sean Connery Highlander

I worked for a company 4 truckers out of Morganton NC. I won't stop when traveling if I don't see truckers. I feel safe and comfortable. Family asked me what I wanted for Christmas I said a CB. I had a Great Dane dry van, and the first thing I did was to have the nose package recessed into the nose. I then had the inside welded with a plate steel and cross barred. I got hit serval times over the years, in the nose of that box, but never exposed the road worth appointments damaged. Also, I had the ICC bar cut and remounted with bud bolts. Got locked into a ICC grab bar once in Albany. Idiots locked my ICC bar, then went home early, on a long weekend. Oh really? I unbolted my cross bar, slid it out of the dock hook, pulled my box out, took all the FAK to a public warehouse and sold it. That unhitchable ICC bar has come in real handy over my 18 years or so that I had that ole girl. Been thought countless DOT stops, never had a problem because of the way it was cut and reattached.

    I just turned 60 and changed my career to trucking from the automotive industry, I have only been driving for three months now, I was warned about 4 wheelers but in all honesty I have had just as many if not more issues with trucks, I love what I am doing and beginning to understand the passion for the industry, at the same time I just can not understand some of the reasoning as to why professionals out here do what they do, I have the utmost respect for drivers out here and always will, be safe in your travels friends !!

    @@wilE6764 yeah, just imagine if it was someone who didn't have the funds to get that fixed, especially with the way things are currently. They won't unload it costing money. So what do they do if yoy can't move it? Take it? I'm afraid I would have gotten a bit testy about it. They don't even know what's going on in their own yard yet they have cameras? Mmhmm they knew what happened! Makes me wonder if it's a regular thing. They should expand their lot or space it better to prevent such things or be responsible to fix the damages that occur on the spot. Let alone they put him off to begin with like they didn't wanna deal with him. 😏😒 would make me not wanna go back there.

    @@wilE6764 after hours, holidays and weekend repairs are expensive. Many shops have a minimum charge for mobile service calls. After hours weekends and holidays always increase costs. He was charged $75.00 just for a parts center to come in and pull parts and deliver to his site. I really doubt his parts costs were $20 or $30 dollars. Probably more in the one hundred dollar or more range. Got to also figure the potential loss of income. Lots to think on. No one likes to spend that much, but in the end it was probably worth the cost. Security cameras on site may be able to pick up on what happened. But that doesn’t fix the problem when the company looks at it the next week. Most he can eventually hope for is reimbursement. Sadly, what can you do when a person doesn’t care how much damage or inconvenience they cause you.

    About hitting the trailers, that doesn't surprise me, I'm a trainer with employer, and these students that come straight from school barely know the basics on backing (like which way to turn the wheel) don't know hardly anything about set-up or controlling trailer. They all seem to "chase" the trailer and it ends up looking like a drunk backed it up.

    Thats a Factory OEM step. You DO NOT want to buy one of them. Last I knew they where almost $2-K. They use that box on the passenger side as a step. Look at the East Manufacturering (Randolph, Ohio) at there step boxes. They come in different widths, And have a TON more storage space in them than the OEM step boxes do. And over time, those OEM boxes wear and RATTLE LIKE a snake. I HATE RATTLES..... MAC and Trail Star also make boxes that are frame mount. I had 2 (one on each side) 30" on my heavy haul truck. One had all my OD Signs and flags and portable lights in it. And the other (Passenger side) had straps and edge protection equipment in it. They definitely helped clear out room in my 3 door enclosed headache rack. I kept my 3/8" chains up in that rack. And all the 1/2" G-100 chains and binders stayed on the goose neck of the RGN, all locked in my custom built chain rack.

    @@JustTruckin Merritt makes a smooth finish 36" step box thats under $700.00. There multiple options out there. Id try and stay with American or Canadian made. And away from the Tractor Supply stuff. Today there's multiple type of tread designs or smooth polished available to match your existing style for that custom look on your truck. Being a former Heavy Haul O/Op I had multiple boxes and enclosed racks to carry and SECURE everything from load securement to machinery tarps that had to me moved with a 2 wheel dolly or a fork lift. At one point in the early 2000's (Iraq war era) I was hauling replace turant bearings for the M1 Abrams tanks down to Anniston, Alabama to Defense Research where they where rebuilding them for the US Army. They where in creates that where 12'8" wide and 40" tall. One inner and one outer per created box. They would take the new one out and put the old worn one in and ship the created box back to NE Ohio to have the manufacturer repair them and send them back. Paid great both ways with no weight on the deck. Only rub was, they had to be 100% Covered/Tarped. And they would only allow them to be stacked 4 high. So I had a set (2) custom tarps made just to haul those bearings. It only took two round trips to pay for those tarps. And ill bet we made 30 or 40 trips to Alabama in the 3 yrs that they worked on those parts. Back when I had arm that looked like South Florida Pythons. And now I know where there herniated disc's in my back came from nearly 20 yrs later. LoL. Love the channel, I'm glad to see someone is still doing it the right way.
