A handy tip, on the back of your truck, say in the tank mounts, carry a house broom, good for light trailer floor scrubbage. Handy for cleaning windscreen as well, especially if theres swarming insects. Two things I always carried, broom and dishwashing detergent.

If you get a load that leaves any kind of peculiar smell in your trailer ( some shippers won't load you if there is a smell they don't like) you can get ground coffee and spread it across the floor and close the trailer doors for at least two hours. The coffee negates the smell.

There is a guy driving a bulk trailer for food (flour, sugar, ...) and he needs to get it washed in a dedicated station every time before he loads again. Very time consuming and expensive, probably impracticable for a box trailer. But I'm not an expert, I only delivered mixed concrete long ago, and there you take washing the drum very seriously before the concrete hardens.

Know that whatever amount of pressure you think drivers are under is not nearly really what the level is. Now add that on top of the inhuman effort required to stay cool with all the permanently offended you have to deal with to get the truck loaded and unloaded every day. Does anyone wonder why there is a driver shortage? I could also mention having to do every thing through shitty cell phone connections too which make me talk loud which then of course is considered being rude and yelling at some over sensitive permanently offended type. I really don't know how in the hell I have put up with it since 1998.

  • @daMillenialTrucker

@@MarkHerndon there's a driver shortage because 1) nobody my age wants to do the job and 2) it's because it doesn't pay enough. It's a fucking joke that I only make $65000 a year doing what I'm doing, my dad told me he made that in the 90s. These companies need to get with the time, $65,000 isn't a whole lot of money when you compare to inflation the price of things these days. My rent is $810.

$50 and the local home improvement store and have a couple day workers clean it. They will have it spotless and be happy for the work

You just demonstrated one of my pet peeves. Sweeping out your trailer on the pavement where other drivers will track the crud on and into their truck. Have to say I was disappointed to see you do it.

Yes you are right. I think it is unprofessional to clean your trailer on the property of a shipper or receiver. I was trained to not do that and I stick to it. Food grade or not, I don't show up with an empty dirty trailer.
