Hi Sabastian, great videos... very informative, thx for that. Could you review fragrances from any of the following brands: 1. Jack Black 2. MARCO SERUSSI 3. BOTANICAE 4. Denzel Collection 5. tfk ? Absolue pour le soir is my favourite Mfk, I love the mix of sweet and skanky. I had grand soir too , but finished my bottle. The though of re buying it 😢 Great to have a comparison between the two ,it'll be very helpful for alot of people 🙏

I got the sample today that I bought of grand soir and I'm crazy for it. Now I have to find where I can get the best price. The sample I bought a generous size. I can't believe the sexy feeling of this perfume

I like challenging fragrances, I'm still very ignorant about all the different notes but I'm learning fast, I haven't tried any of this two, I want to but Ambre Sultan First, an then will go to the MFK, but I don't have any problem with animalic or skanky fragrances au contraire I love them!

I went to Neiman Marcus on Black Friday with the intent on buying Grand Soir but ended up with Oud Satin Mood because I just couldn’t get over how beautiful the scent is. I absolutely love Grand Soir and it’ll be for sure my next MFK purchase.

Is Satin mood very powdery? Which one did you get edp or extrait on the satin mood?

@@jg29271 the violet provides a little powderiness but it’s not the overwhelming smell and experience of the fragrance. I get a lychee smell from the top, then the rose, benzoin, and a little Oud remain for the life of the fragrance. I bought the EDP, I’ve never tried the extrait but that has to be absolutely nuclear. I sprayed the EDP twice and people told me they could smell me the minute I walked into a room.

The analogy with music is very apt, Kurkdjian is a “musician” and these two fragrances are variations on the same theme. If Gran Soir were a beautiful domestic cat, Absolue would be a tiger, sensual and wild like a modern Shalimar.

Love love Absolue Pour Le Soir, bought it off a Basenote member for a song some years ago. I wish I had used it more sparingly. Oh well.

Have tried APLS, its really nice but I'm sticking with Grand Soir. Sucker for Vanilla drydown.

Not a listed note at all but to me Grand Soir smells almost identical to many fine aged rums I’ve sipped. It’s a quite literal similarity really, not exaggerated or approximated. Might not be the perfumer’s intent but for me that’s exactly what it’s like.

Are there any perfumes like Absolue Pour Le Soir? I'm so sad I didn't even know it existed and these two I wish were in my collection together.

Grand Soir is the only amber note fragrance I can wear, it’s fabulous

I’ve just received my decant of Grand soir... I love it,it’s the perfect mix of ambery, vanillic and balsamic notes! It’s definitely my favourite MFK! Absolute pour le soir is too animalic for my tastes... and I love some animalic perfumes, but mostly with civet. And Ambre sultan is one of my favourite fragrances!!!

Well it figures it is long gone :o( I am glad to hear about the differences between the two. I was going through all my decants from years ago when I was a scentsplit member, found this and put it on, not recalling what it was. I got this decant before there was ever a big deal over MFK or I was even aware of online perfume channels. Let's just say I have to find a bottle, so gorgeous! I am a vintage and chypre collector so it smells like heaven to me! Thank you for this video!

Anyone know how I can find an earlier bottle of Grand Soir? Someone gave me a sample that I loved so I got the full bottle and it’s definitely lighter. Apparently amped up lavender and toned down vanilla and labdanum, it’s nice but disappointing honestly

MFK launched in 2009, APLS came out in 2010, so one year.

Sounds like I gotta try APLS, grand soir is definitely nice and lasts all day and then some but, like you said nothing challenging or super interesting 🤷‍♂️ just very well done easy to wear benzoin heavy amber.

I read in Russian version of Fragrantica that Absolue pour le Soir smells like " Sweaty Hamster in Honey" Actually this description of APLS interested me very much xD and I'm going to blind buy it.

For me APLS is too smokey for my taste and I don’t really get anything animalic from it. I love Grand Soir. To me APLS and Grand Soir are completely different. I can see a comparison of APLS to Mitzah, but I love Mitzah; it’s got some smoke, but not overly so.

Though I like Grand Soir, it can get boring and sickening on me 😬 , APLS is gorgeous and I don’t get tired wearing it, lovely and sexy scent 💯 🔥❤️

I'm such a fan of Absolue Pour Le Soir. I remember the whole hubbub about a certain characteristic about it, that I was a bit reserved about the sample I got from Twsited Lily. The sample was one from MFK themselves, not a dabber , and after I spritzed it, I felt a little ashamed that I loved it so much, for I wasn't supposed too. Grand Soir is good, but Absolue Pour le Soir is my favorite of the two. Great comparison Sebastian.

Depends if you like musky go with APLS or if you like it warm and gooey without the sexy musk of the APLS then go with GS. It just depends on what you like but both are fairly unisex! :)

Sebastian? I love amber's; and bought & love Grand Soir, but it's not long-lasting. I actually always used Lagerfeld, and wanted a change, and I was torn between TF's Tobacco Vanille` and Grand Soir. So--GS won out. But it simply doesn't last that long. I bought it NIB/Retail so....anyway, I was wondering if you could suggest a longer-lasting, bolder, sexy, amber. I want it to last all day, not for a couple of hours. Thank you.

Could you have gotten a version of Grand Soir that might have gone bad? Where did you buy your bottle? If it's at a place like Neimans you might take it and exchange it. Or it could be nose fatigue or anosmia? Put it off for a week and come back to it and don't wear beast mode scents for a while cause when your nose gets used to beasts nothing compares to them. I hope that makes sense?

Ambre Fetiche is dark, dry and very very smoky. The dryness compares to Tauer LDDM but not scent just the dryness. If you want some sweetness maybe go with MPEG's amber? It's one of the best in the world. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pn6gmq-jl6_eddI.html

Also yes I find APLS more of a benzoin and honey amber with cumin. Be warned it's not recommended for blind buys unless you like cumin and musk! :)

Samples leak and become very "airy" and lose their potency. Trust me...there is nothing designer about it...beautiful and ultra powerful. But the drydown is sooo much more.

The difference is simple - Apls smells skanky and urinal and Gs doesn't. That the main difference for me. Also Gs "warms" the skin better and becomes stronger and more projective over the time.

So is is Cumin or Coumarin which is banned in modern perfumery?

I ordered from them three times in September 2019 and they shipped to Virginia SUPER quickly (in under a week)!

I love the slightly pissy quality of the honey (in APLS)...Soooo “sexy”!! Did not like Cologne Pour le Soir at all! B-O-R-I-N-G😬. Grand Soir is gorgeous, but after APLS, it seems too simple!

Absolue is too funky, needs to bathe for my taste. It gets even dirtier on my skin. I still have the gifted decant. I haven’t smelled the other yet. I love complicated scents, but this isn’t my taste.

His next perfume creation for this year is going to be masculine.

I love both so much. Have you ever smelt Akkad by Lubin Sebastian? I've heard it's quite similar to Mitzah!

@@ThePerfumeGuy i appreciate your helpful reply! A friend of mine in overseas said her old Grand Soir one had that 'elegant old lady vibe' opening before it becomes a rich deep ambery vanilla. The one i have now is ambery and vanilla, like a very sweetened up root beer vanilla but no old granny opening. Wished there was a website who confirms reformulations what so ever.

Grand Soir is a beautiful sweet amber. Absolute Pour Le Soir has a strange smell of dried urine, like walking past a suspect alleyway.

Im so glad you mentioned musc ravageur by FM because it’s my favorite. I was definitely eyeing Pour Le Soir because im after that musc. I am so interested smelling the more animalic musc that once was in musc ravageur, so I’m grateful you pointed out Pour Le Soir and Musc Sultan are great ambers with musks. 🥰🫶🏻💕❤️
