I woke up to a raining,cold, gloomy isolated day. I looked over my collection and decided on Grand Soir; I was a in a beautiful cloud of perfection the rest of the day. Priceless.

This scent is one of the very few scents I give 10/10 to. In my books, it’s near perfection.

Best release from MFK! Get your nose on Pour Le Soir too! Its like Grand Soir’s evil anamalic brother. Would love to see your take on it!

Whoever said its performance isn't that good just got nose blind or got a fake. This is a beast. I can smell it 14+ hours on my skin. On a test stripe I smelled it for like 6 weeks.

Love Grand Soir and have a bottle- so elegant. Another superb offering from MFK is Ciel de Gum, one of my favorites- originally offered in the G.U.M department store in Moscow.

Glad you reviewed this one. It is one of the best from MFK line of perfumes. I also like Baccarat Rouge 540 and Oud. You should try Oud Cashmere Mood. I am sure you would love that one as it is dark, woody and smoky. By the way, Cashmere Mood also contains labdanum. The more I wear it the more I love Cashmere Mood.

Love this fragrance makes you feel like a million dollars warm rich comforting! Would love your take on aqua vitae forte I personally love it a freshy but warm & spicy

I think someone did a video about fragrances that made you happy just sniffing them, and this is one of those for me. Viva la Grand Soir!

Excellent review! Just got a sample and it seems like I can detect a very slight animalic note. I’m currently really enjoying the scent so I’ll keep wearing it to see what else I can find.

Good luck finding things lol, it's a fun part of the journey and Francis K. is a king at making subtle complexities within his scents.

Love Grand Soir it's my next purchase along with Roja Dove Creation E and Scandal.

That this one is one of the best of the Brand says all about the Brand to be honest.

Rania J Ambre Loup has a similar Amber profile as Grand Soir but has a better development with an Oud/Labdanum opening that will get your attention. I also feel that the material chosen are more natural in the Ambre Loup.

Got mine today, I love ambers and my Mitzah is running low so I got Grand Soir and Ambre Sultan to conserve Mitzah. Ambre Nuit is my nighttime signature scent but it's not really an amber. Kind of sad L'air Du Desert Marocain didn't work with my chemistry. Ambre Sultan gives me the same experience though.

Marc, I know you have a bottle of MFK Oud, but you've never reviewed it. What do you think of it? Do you like it?

Have you ever smelled ambre sultan by serge lutens ?? I love it just as much as grand soir. It's missing that sweet vanilla but as an amber it's gorgeous

Opening of this smelled weird and made me nauseated. Dry down made me fall in love and purchase a bottle

Best release is Absolue pour le Soir. Check that one out Marc. The rest seems pale in comparison.

Hey Maybe you could do a fragrance review about 'Gold Cedar Nights' by Jesus del Pozo? I recently smelled this one and I think it is pretty interesting, but I'd love to hear your opinion on that one as well ;-)

Great review Marc. I agree with you that this is a perfectly balanced Amber, I only have a sample but am thinking about buying a bottle. If I compare it to the other two ambers I have, Mitzah (Dior) is a bit too sweet, there’s too much Vanilla and powderyness in Mitzah and Ambre Russe (Parfum d”Empire) is too dry, both of them also great though. I would use Grand soir only for the ‘grand soirs’ too

I found this to be a good composition, but the linear quality (not a lot of development) combined with the low quantity of notes made it a bit boring. Tie that in with the good/decent projection and it got a bit fatiguing every time I wore it

It was OK - Good, but it was reformulated a Lot. Very much. 6/10.

This is a solid one. But I got bored really soon. Shame on me. (for the record: you sound like an Italian trying to speak French).

The best release? You must be joking. I guess u have not smelt Ciel De Gum, Absolu Pour Le Soir or Oud Satin Mood. I own Grand Soir too and like it but while the opening is amazing and to die for, it doesn’t stay that way. The dry down is sickeningly sweet. It’s just too much sweet . Which tells me it’s not very well blended. I own 90% of all the frags from MFK. It’s one of my favorite houses, but they dropped the ball on this one. If only the opening stayed that way. What is it with u ppl and the sickly sweet perfumes. Grand Soir is not a great Amber frag. You want to know what a great Amber frag is, try Profumum Roma Ambra Aurea . It’s an incredible beautiful Amber that none can touch. And I’ve smelt about a million Amber scents. Or it feels like it. I adore Ambers. I buy every Amber I can find. I also own Tom Fords Amber Absolut. Even that one is a much better Amber than Grand Soir. Grand Soir has its charm but it’s not worthy of the hype. Still, being a mfk fan girl, I had to own it. But I’m mad at it’s overly sweetness.

Everyone’s nose is slightly different, but after watching a dozen videos on this fragrance, it’s obvious the overwhelming majority of reviewers and commenters disagree with you.

This in my humble opinion is a lavender bomb. I love amber absolute, one of my favorites in the collection but this stuff I can’t put in the same boat. Lavender scents are so old school you have to wear a dress shirt with this, preferably suit jacket. I do think it’s good quality though but when this sample ends, that will probably be it.
