    in a weird way, it's an acknowledgment, which can be reduced to a sign of respect. it's mainly funny though, because despite the overwhelming difference in their resumes, hikaru owns a little bit of property in magnus' head. whether thats truly due to jealousy, pure dislike, or genuine respect (since you would not want to see your rival win), it's hard to say.

    And it's not that hard either, much easier than being GM at chess. Polygraph is notorious in producing both false positive and false negative in large numbers and also highly manipulative by the examiner. The APA has very skeptical language warning about polygraphs being used for anything, and polygraph results are not admissible in most courts. Magnus is good at poker, and a good poker player should be able to consistently beat the polygraph with just a little bit training.

  • @TitaniumTurbine

    @TitaniumTurbine

    10 күн бұрын

    @@zxbc1 100% on the first part and mostly on the last part. A good poker player must be able to control their voice/tone, words, movements, gestures, show of breathing, and expressions - everything that is of face value. With a polygraph exam, more subconscious tells are introduced such as micro tics/twitches, heart rate, breathing rate, etc… things that can be harder for some to hide even with training/practice. Polygraphs are notoriously erroneous (as you stated), but unless you have one to practice with and even then… you might not be able to discover all your tells.

    I don't deeply follow Chess but this was an amazing video. Watching 2 intellectuals tied up to a lie detector test being blunt and honest, it was hilarious. I liked that they didn't hold off with weak questions and really asked hard hitting stuff with fun questions. I also would respect Magnus much, much less if he answered "No" to not resenting him or not thinking he's the GOAT. When you reach the 0.001% strata of enough competitive field with males, if you don't have that mindset, you will never become a multigenerational talent like Magnus. Eg: Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Magnus, etc. These people are *obsessed*.
