Given the size of his channel, this is not a "big accomplishment" anymore. The dude is literally making more money beside 1 maybe 2 chess players. He is more known. And for 99.9% of the public he is much more important chess figure than any chess player.

To be fair to magnus he's seemingly a fun-loving guy who happens to take his job seriously. I think being interviewed by a chess player who is also known for being quite silly and has a history of being silly with magnus helps

Yeah, him saying he likes the attention from Levy's videos meant a lot, that he was happy to be there. Also fully admitting you're a narcissist takes some self awareness and is oddly humble.

I like that you made it such a relaxed and fun talk and didn't try to make it super-intellectual like most would. It was a down-to-earth let's get to know the guy behind the board a bit and I feel like I got more out of it than most other interviews I've seen with him. Thanks to Magnus for spending the time.

Magnus is competitive at the weirdest things... he was very committed on the ikea-chess player challenge.

What an enjoyable interview to watch! You were a great interviewer with your fun questions and remarks, and Magnus was a great interviewee with his receptive attitude and long answers. You both seemed very relaxed and were vibing with each other. Great job, Levy!

Hard to behave in an interview (he's no actor). But he loosen up mid-event. I think he's ok. Also, he's Norwegian (AKA East European), so very different culture and style. I mean, I've seen this before (how people perceive ≠ cultures). Also also, I guess he knows his worth too. Compare him with, let's say, Hans Niemann (no real awards, tons of "attitude").

​@@fragile1143He's simply stating the truth when he says he's the best. On a good day, nobody beats him in classical. Only on his worst days, can people defeat him. He is so much better than any other human in the world, that he doesn't look down on his main rivals, he can just accurately assess their strength and his win chances at any given time against them In my opinion, he'd only be arrogant if he said he stands a chance against stockfish, α0 and the likes.

Magnus is what happens when you're the best in the world at something and you don't put on a faux humility about it. It appears he has a very matter of fact personality which logically seems like a good fit for playing chess.

You can tell magnus is pretty comfortable here- he's enjoying the more laid back and unique questions. At least from what I see. Great interview, Levy. Nailed it.

Yup this was great, chess interviews remind me of sports interviews, the same questions every time and bland answers that mean absolutely nothing. This was a good escape from that

As a norwegian, is it really special to see how much this means to people. He is so close to the hearts of us norwegians, providing countless personal interviews and in-depth comments on Norwegian-TV. So, it's great to see how much a single interview means to people, especially when we are getting spoiled 😂

That was so much fun to watch :) I love when someone famous like magnus gets asked just normal everyday questions so we can learn more about them as a person and not just a player.

this was a super fresh interview, Magnus usually seems annoyed in most interviews but he seemed happy and enjoyed the unconventional questions. good job Levy 👍

Because the jokes are getting repititive, I want to say that I'm glad that you are doing so well Levy. You are the one that got me and a few friends of mine into chess (even if some stopped playing after a while) and helped me see games of strategy like chess in a different light. Thank you so much for the content you put out, and even though I know you won't read this, I hope you keep giving us fun chess content

Pausing the video in between to add this comment I don't usually click like button on videos but the way you understood the complexity of Magnus's answer regarding "when he thought he became the world's best player" and then transitioning from the interview to you explaining it was superb!

tbf the last quiz would be as easy/dificult for most scandinavians. nice interview, and nice to see magnus in this setting as well.

Levy is such a legend - top level chess has never been so close to the fans - would love to see you joining the commentary teams more often for big tournaments

Agreed, but also honestly about himself which can be very challenging to toe the line between being honest and realistic about yourself whilst still being respectful and realistic. I actually enjoyed this interview a lot. You got him to open up more than most do. You also did a great job, providing color commentary for the tournament. I only started playing chess this past June at the age of 63, I’m a 530 elo 😢 and I never thought I would be so riveted watching a match. I watch a lot of your videos so hopefully I will improve with time.

At only 8 years old she was the Women's champion in that event, she defeated an IM and broke the record for youngest player ever to draw against a GM. This was a great interview, made Magnus’ personality stand out a bit more than regular interviews. Also the context provided on when he considered himself the best chess player on the planet was incredibly appreciated. I didn’t really know the timeline, as I’m more of a casual chess player.
