M9A1 Respirator VS M9 Clones
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Comparing the US M9/M9A1 respirator to it's various clones and copies.
The M9 was a very advanced gas mask for when it went into American service in the late 1940s, a comfortable face-piece, balanced weight, tissot tubes and an oral-nasal cup and a quick to change 60mm filter.
M9 style masks were used by South Korea, Japan, Sweden, Finland, Yugoslavia/Serbia, Iraq and Egypt, there may be other users as well.
Finland and Yugoslavia made their own improved versions as well, so in this video we compare the M9 to the M9 clones.

The most useful of these masks (in my opinion): 1. M2 2. M61 3. M9A1 4. M1

I have a Yugoslav M2 and this is the best 40MM Filter GASMASK I ever owned!! Love it! I daily wear it against corna when I am in the public. Its a little hard to talk under that thing but its funny when I am in the post office ordering some stamps etc.... sounds pretty much like Darth Vader :-))))
just got an M9A1 new in it's original tin from the 50s
So hyped for this!
I just bought a Yugoslavian M-1 and it came with the bag,mask,gas parka poncho thing,filter and the original fitting guidebook. I bought it from my local surplus market and they had a bunch of them as well as GP-5 masks and CM-4s

Gotta love the M2(one of my first masks). The Serbs have begun to withdraw it from service and replace it with another modernised M9 model, the M3 which has a voice diaphragm and is made of black rubber.

The M3 has nothing to do with the M9, it's a Serbian variant of the US M40.

Weaponsandstuff93 Sorry my bad it was the M-2F I was thinking about. I just mistook it for an M3 because of their similar appearances.

Where i can get filters for them 50mm i think it is

Would you recommend a Drager M65 over a GP 5?
@Weaponsandstuff93

Yes in terms of it takes 40mm NATO filters, but the M65 doesn't fit a lot of people very well.

The M9 was used all the way up to the 70's, with the national guard, at least. You can see it pictures during the Kent state massacre, when a lot of national guardsmen can be seen wearing it. rdln.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/kentstate2.jpg

The M9 was supposedly used by the chemical corps until the introduction of the M40, as they needed a mask with easily replaceable filters.
Where did you get your M9 and how much did it cost? I really want the whole set in the tin like you have but I cant see any on eBay.

Does the British S6 gas mask filter has asbestos in it?

My M61 the filter for some reason doesnt screw all the way in and doesnt create a seal. That and its a BITCH to screw on and off the mask so i gotta ask if theyres a solution to this because i currently dont have the funds for the 60-40mm converter yet.
@Weaponsandstuff93

Is it a problem with the mask or filter? If it's a problem with the mask having a 60-40mm converter won't fix anything.
@aaairsoftmedia

Its the filter sad to say it wont screw in all the way and when i do screw it in theirs threading expose. i was wondering if their is a trick to still make a seal like ones Vets used if their filters still showed threading.

Yugoslav things always had bad consistency, you need to personaly look into stuff always, especialy army gear. Boots could warry in weight by almost a half kilo per pair.
