Finnish M61 Gas Mask Another Review
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Another review of the excellent Finnish M61 gas mask, a US M9 clone which is better in several ways, despite the inflation in the prices in masks these are still reasonably priced for the quality, can be used with the original 60mm filters or a 60-40mm converter can be used to use it with modern RD40/NATO filters if so desired.

That Nokia @1:40 was perfect pronunciation. English speaking people usually say it no-kia.

I got an M61 V2 on holiday a few weeks ago. I really like it! It is really comfortable.
Nokian kumi (=nokian rubber) is a different thing than the phone company. Nokian kumi also made rubber boots for the finnish defence forces. Nokia is also a town

An excellent mask
Great video and history, always really liked my M61 and find it's a really good mask isn't it, very comfortable too, also was my first mask to as you know.
I just purchased a Finnish filter. I really hope it will fit my Canadian C3 mask.
Cute and nice looking in the gasmask soothing voice
i just got one for €10 from second hand market and 60 to 40 adapter for €5 so a pretty good deal, they go for cheap
Ordered one the other day, awaiting to be delivered.

@@Weaponsandstuff93 indeed, doubt I get the mp5 soon as that's caming from Germany
I just realized how expensive the 60mm to 40mm adapters are worldwide here in Denmark you can buy them for less than 2 dollars
Quick question you think? Scott Pro 2000 PF10 P3 Filter 40mm. Will fit this mask? Or can u reccomend cheap filter? For virus stuff
@Weaponsandstuff93 can you do a video on all your soviet gas mask collection?
I have one of these the voice diaphragm version but the exhale valve has rotted? Can I fix it?
If you fabricate or acquire a rubber washer for the GOST>NATO adaptor it should work ok...
hey love your videos i'm new into gas mask world and i'm a bit confused with all the choice i can't decide wich one to get i've understand that i need a 40 mm one but wich one ? i would like it to be not to expensive (less than ~ 100 euros if possible) and effective enough for real usage thanks
My m61 with 60mm filter came in two days ago, I also got a Canadian C3 without a filter. The 60mm filter from m61 fits into the C3 but what's confusing me is that on the C3 it looks like the adapter you have, it has two sizes of thread on it, it's very tight so I'm afraid to try to loosen and take it off. Does having a 60 to 40 adapter means you can use both types of filters?
What kind of mask do you recommend for someone with a huge nose haha. I had the m61 but a small one and the cup thing on the inside was crushing My nose and blocking the air passage
I'm new to gas masks and stuff but like how does the filter connect to the mask itself because I can attach it but I don't see anything that it has a spot where it goes through
cool vid
thx for the review! How can I open the metal clamps in order to clean everything up?
@Weaponsandstuff93

It's a jubilee style clip so there should be a way of gently prising it over the ridges.
Did you get a pre 1969 bag. The pre 69 bags have SA instead of the tower logo.
Are scratches on the lenses anything to worry about as I just received mine a day ago
Odd request, but I don't think you've done a video of this yet. I'm curious what the inside of an average cheek filter consists of. I presume it still has charcoal in it if it's meant to stand up against weaponized gas, but they just look like dense 3M cloth filters from pictures. Got a spare one to cut up on camera?
Can you recommend a place to buy filters for this mask?
i will go check your old videos(i havent, guess was lazy, sorry), but if there is a fairly effective way to sew-up a face mask, that would be awesome for bored grandmothers isolated in their homes.......many love, much props
I’ve got one of these masks, I thought it was a v3 as it has the plastic voice diaphragm/exhale valve housing however it doesn’t have the peripheral seal which I thought was something only the v1 didn’t have (also it has the SA marking on the forehead), were any v1s retrofitted to have the later voice diaphragm assembly or something?
@stephennelson9212

Also any advice for getting a good face seal, I always find the weight of the filter bends the mask breaking the seal.
Thanks for the review, I hate the M1 variant cause its common here in Serbia. During Corona I am using the Serbian m3 that is based on the USA M40.

@@Weaponsandstuff93 Several years ago I saw the M3 on our local Craigs list type of site, I bought it the same moment. It was 25 Euros which is dirt cheap. Some guy was working for the army so he got it. The sad thing is that our police uses m2 while the special forces use the M2-F. M3 isn't widely used in the army, it's more like a prototype which is sad. If I get another M3 I will gladly forward it to you.
I have the mask but where did you get the the 40mm adapter?

Well it's better than a surgeon mask but not 100% so it'll most likely protect you. But stores and some other establishments have a no no policy for masks that cover over half face.
I'm thinking of taking my gas mask to retail work but also means I would be burning through my filters aswell. I guess it's better to have some kind of protection on but I don't want to burn through my filters either since facemasks are running low. Should I go with my gas mask without filters to work but make sure to disinfect it after work or use the 10 filters I have ?

Been seeing more 3rd Gen Finnish M61 gas masks for sale than 2nd gen. Maybe because of less parts on the 2nd gen making it more favorable? Really wish the Finnish M61 2nd gen wasn't so expensive on eBay. They used to be cheaper years ago, really wish I bought one back then.
