My Worst Gas Masks

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Probably some of the worst gas masks in my collection, due to quality control problems such as melting, bad straps, poor layout and just general design flaws.

    I have checked with the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, and when stored in original packaging the filters for Skyddsmask 90 should have infinite shelf life. The civilian version of the mask (Forsheda A4) states a shelf life for filters of 20 years or more.

    The most interesting thing about the last mask (I own one and its size 3) is it’s size misleadings. My face feels perfect in size 2 (taking GP-5 for example or even PMK1) but in that mask I felt like I was wearing size 1, not to mention I had to change straps in order to get it ON my face! What I really like about this maks is that it is not rubber and I can easily wear it on sunlight, it surely won’t protect me, but there are a lot of good masks that will do the job, nice video as always!

    With the hungarian one (m76) you realy have to get a mask that fits you very well or even one that is a bit smaller. I have size 2 and it fits my face perfectly (I don't have any problems with the ear straps and it makes a perfect seal) only thing I find a bit annoying is the complete lack of voice diaphragm and the lower portion of the mask pushing against my throat when I look downwards. Try tightening the straps a bit more, yours are very loose compared to mine. Other than that, thank you very much for all your videos, you helped ignite my passion for gas masks, and I also consider you the best source of information there is. Greetings from Czech Republic (by the way, do you own the czechoslovak vz. 35 gas mask?, they are quite rare outside of czechoslovakia and I could get one for you, if you are interested of course)

    I have a GP-7V. The drinking apparatus isn't great. I also have a bottle for it. In the bottle, there's a hard black holding thing to hold the drinking bit... but mine chipped after a handful of insertion and removal, so now it doesn't stay in by its own. Drinking from the bottle with the drinking bit sucks. It leaks a lot. Also the mouth piece of the straw gets in the way of my lips (unless I wrap the straw in a way that will deform a bit of it over time). In the insert piece of the straw, there's a piece that keeps it closed, unless pressed in. My GP-7V is one size too small for me. It's medium-sized, while I would need a large size, so it's impossible to put on or get off unless I unstrap one of the straps at the neck.

And I usually hate the things I start with, so I am glad that this is an exception.

    I've started to gather supplies for smelting lead(making bullets) would you recommend a gas mask? If so would I use an ABEC?

  • @kuchenzwiebel7147

    @kuchenzwiebel7147

    I probably would add a P3 filter, they aren't expensive and if you try to smelt old lead you probably get some dusty lead. I don't know if a ABEK would stop lead.

  • @Weaponsandstuff93

    @Weaponsandstuff93

    Lead dust itself is blocked by a particle filter so a P3 filter, but getting a full ABEKP3 filter would not be a bad idea.

    Hello, I live Finland and want to buy a gasmask. Our own retailarers dont really have the cool masks you present and even our own versions of Amazon only rarely sell the WW2 Finnish and Soviet ones. I also don't trust the filters. Where do you reccomend me to buy masks from and where to get good clean and safe filters? I've heard some modern filters fit into old (Soviet) gasmasks...

    Go on eBay and buy a Avon FM12 or CT12, or the Finnish M95 if you can find it, then simply get modern filters for them.
