Testing Scott PRO filters on GOST masks

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A few people let me know these Scott PRO filters may be 40mm DIN rather than a standard STANAG thread. So I bought one to test on various GOST masks. Turns out it does seem to seal pretty well.
Thanks to Sonofsono and Infinity11 for the recommendation.

I've had a few people (Who know their stuff point out to me) that there are actually both GOST and NATO specific Pro 2000 filters as well, so maybe buying these is still a crap shoot.

THE Scott Pro 2000 data sheets lists this range of filters complies to EN 148-1. Which is described by thread Rd40 x 1/7”.

What? Well clearly they don't know their stuff because this is plainly ridiculous. There are no GOST Pro 2000 filters. They're all stated as NATO, but apparently due to seemingly quite consistent tolerant tolerances and mallability of the plastic threads they do indeed *fit most GOST masks airtight*. It seems unlikely they are DIN threaded as old DIN thread is no longer used anywhere as far as I'm aware, and Scott has no relationship to Germany either, as far as I'm aware. There are some isolated reports of people who can't manage to fit their Scott Pro 2000 filters onto their GOST masks properly, but it seems the majority have positive experiences.

Yeah I've been putting these filters onto my GOST masks for a little bit, I figured that since the threads were plastic, they wouldn't damage the mask filter port and have enough give in the plastic thread to properly screw onto GOST masks. (Btw I agree that the SCOTT Pro2000 filter series has the inherent flaw of no front or rear filter cap and as a result of such, is prone to contamination.)

Think i could turn a PBF mask to GOST by cutting off the filter intake of a couple PMK-1 masks, unscrewing the metal bits, putting them into the intake holes on the PBF, then fastening them down on the inside with the rubber bits? Then fill the cheeks with Styrofoam or something so they don't sag.

Question, im looking for a mask with the "scare factor" of how it looks for video production but I want one that is practical and functional. I was thinking of using a GP-4 and get a modern filter for it. But I like the anti fog of the GP-5 but I actually want a mask that feels comfortable enough to wear for a long period of time which Babushka claims the GP-5 is not (especially with fluffier hair). So do you know of a mask that has the look of the GP-4 or GP-5 that has the anti-fog and fits well. Furthermore If I were to get the GP-4 are there any brand of filters you would recommend including these scott pro filters? PS a voice diaphragm would be preferred but not necessary.
