My father used to own one that he flew out of Brainard Airport in Hartford, Ct. N2703k. He used to take me to Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in it every summer to see the antique airshow. He flew us to Pittsburgh in it once. Because we had to land for fuel along the way, it was no faster than driving, and a lot less comfortable. It was cool very cool though, I was 7 when I first went up in it (1969), and I was convinced I was going to die, lol.

I’ve started a 65hp Luscombe many times. It’s much easier on the hands and safer to prop it sea plane style, from behind on the right side, while holding the strut with one hand. Try it. You’ll never go back to the front again.

hmmm... wish someone had showed me...when I was learning. If you always prop with the tail tied, and the wheels chocked... the only remaining danger is between your ears.

the real dangers are unfamiliar airplanes, and the guy in the cockpit. assuming the tail is tied, and wheels chocked. The A-65 is very predictable. At least the one you own should be.

Technically, I could fly it right now. I'm going to do some high speed taxi tests and probably fly it in the next week. Thanks for watching!

What did you do to the engine before starting it for the first time? Did you borescope the cylinders? Do a compression test?

What is the small propeller under the fuselage used for?

Hey Kelvin! It's a wind generator. It produces about 10amps at 80mph. It charges the battery while in flight. old school cool! Thanks for watching!

I just want to slap you guys. It's just over-primed and the guy propping it is too far out on the blade and getting a shitty swing. The timing is fine.
