Louisville, KY 1990 - BIGFOOT #4 - Andy Brass - BIGFOOT 4x4, Inc.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This was June of 1990, and while the major event promoter of the time had banned BIGFOOT #8 temporarily, Andy Brass did some fill-in driving in BIGFOOT #4. Bring on the Louisville, KY figure-8 course. It is well known in monster truck history as being a fast and exciting race track. Brass and #4 were determined to add to that mystique. #4 at the time had a new fuel injected engine that was still being fine tuned. Brass fought the new power-plant the entire event, as it was sputtering and misfiring. What resulted was some of the best races that you will ever see. Watch Brass and #4 tackle the competition (and each other) in this video.

    I love the fact that the Bigfoot team brought out an older truck, updated it and stuck it to everyone especially Scott Stephen's who was protesting that bigfoot 8 should not be allowed to compete. All good we will still beat you with an older truck!

    you can see the nitrogen shocks on the back of 4 as well. One of my favorite looks of this truck as it was trying to keep up with the newer designs, and was still winning events.

    Yeah. I think they got the suspension dialed in pretty good for a leaf sprung truck. Must still have been a rough ride for Andy, though, but the suspension works surprisingly well in this video.

    Would of been a different race if the truck had all 4 nitrogen shocks and a better power plant. Bigfoot 4 is a legend. Can’t wait for its reveal.

    Bigfoot #4 is legendary, Jim Kramer stated once that it was one of the most durable trucks in the fleet at that time, and even here, being an obsolete for its time leaf sprung truck its still romping on everyone else. I'm so happy they are restoring it, but personally I would love to see it restored to its original 1985 condition.

    Andy retired because he was having a kid and didn't want to be gone traveling all the time. He's got three sons and I have crazy respect for the man to leave something he was so good at to put this family first. He lives in Washington state and restores classic cars.

    Anyone know what happened to Bigfoot at 3:15? Seems like it was a fueling issue, sounded like the engine was cutting in and out, good thing Andy got the truck going and made a come back for the win!

  • @timt8029

    @timt8029

    4 жыл бұрын

    I believe the issue was this... the previous week, TNT announced a rule change limiting alchohol injected engines to 500 cubic inches. 4 ran a 540 alchohol injected engine at this point so they were probably trying to run it on race gas. Even when Piant drag raced it in the rest of the races, it didn't seem to have near the power it had at the Bigfoot bash. John kwasniewski talked about this because he faced that as well.
