Problem is that the nostalgia audience is getting fewer and fewer day by day so unless the story, action, and special effects are good enough the appeal to mass audience, it will just be like the Cats movie.

I would definitely be down for a Thundercats movie if it’s done right with a great story and visual landscape. Thundercats, He-Man and Swat Cats

The 2011 version was surprisingly awesome. I wished they’d continue that, I don’t necessarily need a live action.

I was going to say Ben Kingsley as Mum Ra simply because he'd have so much fun alternating between going all Shakespearian and Full Ham, devouring all the scenery in a glorious example of over acting to the back row.

I literally have been waiting a lifetime for this thundercats movie. We need it. Let the universe hear us

For Thundercats to work live action they are going to have to really change the plot, because it’s a nonsensical cartoon. I tried watching as an adult I was really distracted by the convoluted plot.

The only hopeful news would be another animated show or movie.

A new Thundercats comic just started last month, so the interest is still very much there.

@majorlazor5058 It sticks closely to the origins and I think the writing and art is good. It's only on the 2nd issue but I'm enjoying it so far.

I used to not care about Thundercats until there used to be that new animated series that was on Cartoon Network way back in 2011 I believe. It had pretty awesome storytelling. Too bad it only lasted one season.

@@majorlazor5058 oh then since that's the case gotta disagree with your opinion on the animation. Didn't look kiddie at all. It's what many action shows used and still do to this day. Now the art style that the other Thundercats show had WAS kiddie and horrible at that.

The studio needs to leak a test clip as a proof of concept, similar to what happened with Deadpool.

I have a lot of love for the original Thundercats - one of my favorite cartoons from my youth. I think there is still a lot of love and nostalgia for the show. However, I agree that it would be very tricky to pull a live action movie off in a satisfying way. We’ve all seen what it looks like when Hollywood gets it wrong when portraying humanoid hybrid characters. And this wouldn’t be a secondary character (like Gollum in LOTR) it would be ALL the characters. I think that’s what reduces enthusiasm, not lack of nostalgia.

I will only beleive it when I see it. The same goes for He-Man, Robotech and Voltron. Im tired of waiting and I been waiting forever.

The main reason I want to see a Thundercats movie is for MUMM-RA, THE EVER! LIVING!

I always had the idea that all the producers have to do is use the CATs stage or movie production costumes and make up to pull off a good Thindercats movie.

I have given this alot of thought...and I am more convinced that this is not translatable to movies

The comic book news sites are misreporting the ThunderCats update. It's not a live-action film, it was announced three years ago as an animated film and there's nothing in Wingard's new statements to suggest anything has changed. Here's what he said to Deadline in 2021: "I want to do a ThunderCats film that takes you back to that ‘80s aesthetic. I don’t want to reinvent the way they look; I want them to look like ThunderCats. I don’t want to do it live action, either. I don’t want it to look like Cats, I don’t want those kinds of issues .... I want to do a movie you’ve never seen before. A hybrid CGI film that has a hyper real look and somehow bridges the gap between cartoon and CGI."

I have to disagree with Ray, having Liono only doing "the call" at the end of the movie and giving not only himself but the whole team an energy boost to beat back Mumra and his mutant henchmen would be EPIC!

Really john thats BS, you have no fing clue. Ive been a thundercats fan since the 80s and have been dreaming of a live action movie. But no we keep getting these reboots and remakes crap. Growing up with the 80s version, i loved. I also rrally loved the 2011 version, but that thundercats roar crap, that was fing BS crap.
