The Stone of Destiny. The Kings of Tara and later the High Kings of Ireland were proclaimed at the stone and according to legend it was brought to Ireland by the Tuatha de Danann or the Irish gods. It not only a piece of history but a sacred object with a lot of meaning to the ancient Irish. Although I think the Irish today don't really care about it if they can just leave it unguarded for people to vandalize. I think the stone should be placed in a museum and a replica made to replace it.

Yeah, you heard it right. And I thought the same. I just worry about crap like this forcing restricted access to these places. It's something pretty cool to be inside a passage tomb on a solstice or equinox. And there are places where that's possible to whoever turns up. They do attract their fair share of, sensitive, people. So sometimes it can become quite random!

Dunne is an irish surname, derived from the irish ó duinn and ó doinn, meaning "dark" or "brown." the name dunne in ireland is derived from the ó duinn and the ó doinn gaelic septs who were based in county laois, county meath and county wicklow. these septs in turn are descendants of the o'regan noble family.
