‘Stone of Destiny' Vandalized in Ireland
The Stone of Destiny, a 5000-year-old monument, was vandalized. Workers stood atop Ireland’s Hill of Tara, not to admire the view or take in the history, but to steam-clean off ugly graffiti. Lia Fail, also known as the Stone of Destiny, is a piece of granite that stands on the Hill. It's rumored to have mystical powers, and was part of the inauguration of 142 of Ireland’s high kings. But on February 6, the Stone of Destiny was vandalized with spray paint.

I guess you could say I'm a kiwi but that doesn't mean much to me considering I have no maori heritage. With that being said I have changed my stance with the the vandalism of this piece of history. Its clearly more than "just a rock" so yea, my bad

It's been vandalised at least 3 times to my knowledge and that's just in the last 10 years. The stone is still fine. It won't do any more damage than natural weathering and erosion. Of course if it happened every other day and needed powerwashing constantly it would become a problem but this isn't going to destroy it

it takes thousand of years to cultivate a piece of history but takes a minute to ruin and destroy it all.
Fun fact: The Stone of Destiny shrinks quite a bit in the colder weather.
