That is because there isn't any backstabbing here (and Sully wasn't in this one). Backstabbing + Sully = Lot's of writing in invisible book. Personally do I think this game needs a few "screw with other players" cards.

50:25 Rules correction: you can in fact give away beans for free just so long as the person receiving it agrees to take it. This is explicitly spelled out in the rules.

I just noticed that a lot of the jokes of this game don't really work in English. The pictures on the bean cards are basically all puns based on the German name of the beans. For example, the green bean is called "Brechbohne" in German, where "Brech" can mean break, but also to throw up. So, you see a green bean throwing up. The blue beans are western gun slingers, because at some point, ammunition was called blue beans (don't know the context), so the blue bean is shooting guns.

I enjoyed the subtitles *Dom loses it* at the bean them and weep moment purely because these words can be applied to any and every video Dom’s in, with the losing it usually directed in Sullivan’s direction or at the universe in general (this is usually a different type of losing it but the point still stands)

"Bean them and weep" will now become a No Rolls Barred reference.

Dom's aggression in bartering games is great

Rule clarification. When you are selling beans, you cannot sell bean fields with only one card in, unless both fields only have one card. There appeared to be several points where people sold a lone bean, when their other field had more beans in it.

This game is just an absolute classic. It was the first game in my collection many many years ago. It is so unique and engaged all the time, and filled with interesting decisions. An amazing time.

Lorna's Crooked Bean Fields are such a big bean play, it's amazing.

Never seen nrb. Tuned in for Ellen. I swear this table looks like a picture of your parents with their biker friend and their college punk friend sitting around a table in the 80s.

One of my all time favorite card games! When I was in school, we had a tradition in my school that during the last two or three days, students, teachers and parents could host mini-courses in basically whatever they liked. I hosted one year a Bohnanza - course, just so that I could play with my friends this game. And I don't know if the joke of the name is explained in this episode (haven't watched it yet), but in german, bean is called "Bohne", so, the name is a pun and would be in eanglish beananza.

Big fan of the channel but it is KILLING ME that you guys are straight up ignoring the bean protection rule. The rule is that: when you harvest, if one of your fields is at 1 card and the other is not, you must harvest the field with more than one card. This is what balances and makes the game.

When I first played this game, the person who owned it handed out card racks so we wouldn't change the order, accidentally or otherwise. There's no way I could have kept myself from absentmindedly sorting the cards if I held them in my hand.

Yeah they do miss a few of the extra bits including the part of trading where you can gift beans as long as the other player accepts.

You ARE allowed to give away the turned up cards (but only to a willing recipient). This may help if they have nothing you want. Obviously getting something out of a trade is better, but it may be better to give away a bean that you don't have room to plant and being forced to harvest. Depending on the rules set (it varies across editions) you may be able to buy a Third bean field for 3 gold (this is almost always worth doing).

More Ellen = More good!

Last summer I went to Durham for a short break and found a lovely board game shop. At the time, Oxventure Deadlands was at its height of popularity and the Johnny meme “Aw Beans” was trending all over the OX community, so when I saw a card game about beans I was like, “yes please!” I was so excited when they said they were playing Bohnanza because I’ve not played it yet so seeing how it works was really useful; and finding out Ellen was playing was a real bonus, or beanus if you will.

Meeting you all from the soon to happen crossover with oxventure, gorgeous set, lovely people, but I must say, sir, that mustache, I would let it take me on a promenade through the park any day of the week. Also, so proud of you that no one mentioned beans being flicked even once👏👏😍😍

Single beans can't be harvested unless all your fields are single beans. Beans can be gifted/donated (if the receiving party accepts them). There is a 3rd bean field that can be purchased for 3 coins.

This has been (bean?) my gaming group's go to game for a few years now. It can be as mean as you want it to be and giving a bean away for nothing (a charity bean we call it) is a fantastic mechanic when you realise when giving things away are good for you and people refuse to take them for the same reason. I am not sure if it is mentioned but the number at the top of each card is the amount of that type of card in the deck. It is a quick way to work out if a card is more valuable/dangerous to chase.
