Dave is so good at teaching games. Really enjoy you all!
This channel is really nice. I understand the game much more watching a playthrough.
Best explanation for this game I've ran into. Thank you!
For my "future consideration," I will make sure to keep watching more GameNight. The game sessions are very helpful!!
I bought this game after watching this video. This card game didnt seem that interesting when i came to know about it, but then i watched you guys play it and... couldnt resist and its in my collection :) Great video.

Roy Valstar same as that 🤗
I Finally understand the rules now, that little rulebook is so hard to understand and you explain it so well in this video! The game is so much fun! Edit: Subbed!
This game is the best! All the wheeling and dealing is so much fun. This was a great explanation of the game.
One of my favorites. Bought the 25th anniversary edition, because I did not have any of the expansions. Will make someone else happy with my original copy.
Bohnanza is definitely a game that plays better than it looks or than the concept suggests (for anyone unsure whether or not to get it). It was only watching this for the second time that I realised how the "harvest any time" rule isn't overpowered, as long as you remember the (One) Bean Protection rule. It's a pain of a game to teach, but Dave did a good job teaching it, considering how tricky it can be for newcomers with its multiple phases and little details.
Excellent explanation, as always
Merry Christmas guys!! I really like this series.
Omg this game is great. One of our favs here.
This is one of my favorite games. I may have watched this episode years ago, but I'm enjoying watching it again, especially since I can't really play it with anyone right now. :)

Got any other recommendations for games that fit your group? Trying to broaden my collection.
Interesting game and thanks for the holiday experience, Merry Christmas to you all. Looking forward to 2015 and being invited to your gaming experience
Great game and players
YES, MY REQUESTED GAME!!
Red Bean should be Kidneybean. Look at the picture, it makes sense.
i bought this game on a trip to Taiwan, but the rules were in chinese and my wife never read them to teach me the rules. That was like 6 years ago. I can finally play the game now that i know how it works.

So let me get this straight. You bought a game overseas that is /was readily available in any number of places including Wal-Mart, ebay, amazon, bgg marketplace. It is a multi-player game but your wife won't play with you (and neither will your game group?). You never went online to look for the rulebook, even a pdf is available in at least two places. And now you are using a play-through as your rulebook?

@@Lappelduvideify To be fair, the game seems awful til you see it in action. Hard to get motivated to play something that looks like this.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, guys.

Lincoln Damerst can you play Story War next?
You guys should do a game night on the expansion packs! There are no videos out there on them and the rules can be so hard to understand...preferably the Pirates and Princesses expansion pack. I would play any Bohnanza pack out there though. It's one of my favourites!
I feel like Dave and Jason from the Dice Tower should do something, and get a counter for use of the word awesome. Everything is awesome! :p
Nice end credit scene.
I love this game and started with the Rio Grande edition. However, I've found over time there is some tendency for confusion because there are some recommended variations for different numbers of players that I don't always remember. For example, in the two player game, you draw only TWO cards at the end of a turn, rather than three. And with larger numbers of players you might remove some of the bean cards from the deck. I started out playing with two players and didn't realize when then playing with three players that we should have been drawing three cards at the end of a turn instead of two. Some of the variations may be just recommendations, but there are good reasons for them-- they streamline the game a bit. I did a 5 player game recently, and didn't remove the Coffee beans as is suggested, and consequently the game ran rather long. And that was counter-intuitive, because I figured with more players you'd want more cards, but that's not necessarily the case. In any event, the game isn't completely broken if you get these rules variations wrong, so it's not too big of a deal, but they are useful variations even if a bit hard to remember. The other good thing about this game is it's a good travel game, the fact it plays from 2-7 is a big plus. My copy is starting to show wear from playing it so much, I'll probably be buying another copy soon... Also, we pretty much always buy the third bean field. However, we've not done a lot of analysis on it's true benefit. In our case, the added flexibility seemed like enough advantage so everyone always does it, so if there's a benefit to NOT buying the third field, we've not had the occasion to notice. YMMV.
Looks like a very fun game - Ordered it while watching 😄 'What ya giving me?' 'The game probably' - LOL 😆 'For future considerations' Lol 😄 Are the Rio Grand and Amigo expansions usable together? Or will like Rio expansions only work with the Rio base game? Ty ty for any help :)
28:42 Dave looks so sneaky 😂
31:30 - "we're beyond that now"
Why is it not called Beananza?

The game was designed by a Native German speaker. Bohne is Bean in German.
I had that same situation where they needed to draw 2 cards for the trade phase and there wasn't any there. In the rules it said if that occurs you finish the Phase 2:trade and then end on Phase 3:redraw at of your turn. Though my copy is from 2001 so the rules might have been updated.

Seven years on, here's what the most recent version of the rules (as found the 25th Anniversary Edition) say: "The game ends when the draw pile runs out for the third time. If this happens during phase 2, “Trading Bean Cards”, complete phases 2 and 3 of your turn (even if you could only turn over one card instead of two), then the game ends." Which I think is what you're saying anyway.
This game is the easiest way to start a fight among a group of friends 😂

Easiest to start a dispute maybe, but the original Diplomacy is unmatched for ending friendships entirely.

the third field is widely considered to be a trap...
14:00 57:20
So, gang, I just played this with my mother and sister. I think there was a piece missing during your playthrough... puns. Lots and lots of bean-related puns. Hilarity had by all. On that note, you folks cause me to spend entirely too much money. Please continue to do so. :)
There is no trading for future considerations either.
mm i always tought you had to harvest the field with the most cards in it ?
@davebo3428
9 жыл бұрын
Nope. What probably happened is the person teaching you messed up the rule that stated you can't harvest a field with only one card in it if you have another field with multiple cards in it. But, as far as I understand, all of these are legit: I have 3 Stink Beans and 4 Green Beans - I can harvest either. I have 1 Stink Bean and 1 Green Bean - I can harvest either. I have 1 Stink Bean and 2 Green Beans - I can harvest Green Beans, and then Stink Bean.
Too many shots of people and not enough of the cards but otherwise very good. Still appreciated.
26:36 You can not give other players cards for free. She would have had to harvest and then planted the blue bean
Pleas can you play bohnanza again, maybe an other axpantion
15:43 haha
they forgot to add the cocoa beans
I believe your not allowed to just openly trade out of your hand, meaning the two cards drawn have to be involved in the trades you cannot just trade random cards from the hand.
@davidarnott6085
9 жыл бұрын
max mueller Max, you absolutely can just trade cards from your hand. Trades can involve ANY cards, not just the two flipped over. And can be made in ANY order. The only two restrictions are: 1. All trades MUST involve the active player, so two other players cannot trade with each other on my turn, for example, and... 2. Once a card is traded, it is set aside to be planted at the end of the trading phase and CANNOT be traded again. So I can't acquire a bean from, say, Nikki, and then turn it around by trading Nikki's bean with Lincoln. Heh, it's essentially reinforcing point #1, if you think about it :)
Who else thinks they should play story war next
This game sounds like a cheaters paradise haha
One person explains the rules. The others listen. Less caffeine next time Lincoln please, ok?

I think it is weird to have your front card on the right unless you're someone who reads right to left.
@kyannastar
9 жыл бұрын
The way I fan my cards puts the right hand card fully showing on the front and then the others are obscured as they go back and to the left. It makes sense to me.
Not a huge fan of this game....pretty luck dependent on what cards come up and then it's ALL about trading with other people. Little to no decisions to make other than, please trade me this for this and this...and if that doesn't happen then you're screwed and you probably have to start over on a new field and the luck of what comes up happens again and then it's all dependent on if people will trade you what you want. Meh, I can play it a couple times a year but more than that is just not really that good.
are there any games like this that have cute art. the beans are so ugly... 😑
@____Ann____

That's the reason why I didn't want to buy it. Same with 'You' re bluffing'. Why are those game so ugly? But I have them both (and the drawings still annoy me).
We had to stop watching after the first few minutes. It started out good until the guy sitting next to you kept interupting and was making things confusing for us. Had to look for on other channels for a clearer explanation.

I haven't see him do that before. Other than that small issue, I felt the rule explanation was clear and concise. I watched this explanation and then directly played the game right after with no issues. Good work GameNight!

Yeah seemed a little more difficult than usual in this video, but I agree. I had to pause a number of times and then revisit because it was difficult to handle
Dude in red shirt, please let him explain the game. This is the last game night you are invited to.
Poor choice of player count. Bohnanza barely begins to shine with 5 players, much less 4.
I recently played this game and I had a few issues with this game: - I had a hard time to understand what to do (my first time). - This is very luck oriented. I fail to see where the strategy is. - The winner is probably the one with the biggest mouth as he is the one who get the best "deals". - The drawing is too childish. - One player was a hardcore player... and too strict. If you didn't put the card in the back in perfect order, he will scream like a 3 years old kid. And that's my 1-2h experience of that game. Not as fun as I wished. Didn't like it. Pass. But thanks for the video explaining how to play.
