The white range number on the RPG 6:24 means you can shoot up to x2 distance, it just imposes a -2 on dice quality. Thanks for the video, I'll share this on our social media.

hey thanks for the video. Minor nitpick (along with the double-range one already mentioned) is that the Sagger is an infantry portable version, not the counter you chose. This scenario is all about the BMPs avoiding getting shot by it, as it smashes them up instantly. They have to sit out at 7-8 hexes range (double range = -2 Dice Quality)and blast from there, covering the trucks and infantry while the trucks try and zoom in and out without getting caught. Trucks are also vulnerable to the Technical, as it has a lot of movement along the road.

Just went nuts and ordered this, the solo module for it, the Hue expansion for '65, and Night of Man. Thank God for paypal credit lol. The Pig is indeed Flying now :)

I'm sat here listening to your play through, while cutting Armageddon counters out. I have downloaded it from The WG vault. Thanks for the rules primer I can now read the RB with some idea rather than none. Thanks.

Love your vids, keep 'em coming! I prefer the operational level for board-games and play miniature games for the "tactical fix". What tactical board-games did you play and subsequently abandon and why. I'm still trying to find the tactical board-game that suits me (modern and WW2). Steve

Hi Steve, I appreciate that bud! I have tried the Lock 'n Load Tactical system, and just found the rules a little too long and complicated. I'm sure an ASL player would scoff at that, but for me, I want my tactical games to play quickly. I've also played "one-offs" (single game instead of a system) like Flying Pig Games '65: Vietnam. For some reason that one just didn't pull me in. I think it was more the theme than the actual game. I do really like Night of Man (also by Flying Pig Games), a tactical game set in the future with alien invaders on earth. Real Sci-Fi stuff, kinda campy, but fun.

Got it. I'm gonna try LnL fir the reason you didn't like it...I don't mind "detail" but ASL isn't for me.

Hello sw, please pardon the absolutely newbie question, but what is the difference between operational level board games and tactical level board games?

  • @wsclulin

Operational level games are concerned with the problems of larger forces (typically regiments, divisions, corp): logistics, supply, campaign planning etc. Tactical games are usually smaller unit, Company sized or less, and are concerned with the problems of the immediate battle/fire-fight. They emphasize granularity (detail) of combined arms combat. There can certainly be elements of both in each, but the scale is the biggest difference

The double range issue comes up a number of times, including units which could have fired but are thought to be "out of range" as well as units recovering extra action steps because they are thought to be out of range of potential enemies.

You are correct Jim. I'll be honest, I struggled a bit with learning the game and playing it smoothly. I think the rulebook is a bit of a mess. I no longer own the game, actually.

In your first Close Combat, each attacker should have also taken an action step so each of them should have been at -3 Shaken and not -2 Pinned.

Thanks for the heads up Mod. I think I struggled the most with the rules of this game than any game I own(ed). Probably why I don't own it anymore, haha.

@@WayneHansen ohoh. Now I'm starting to regret buying this game, and I haven't even played it yet. I'm one of those guys who like simple rules. I'm trying to sell D-Day Dice because it has too many things to remember each turn.

Looks like you used "Gun Trucks" instead of "Trucks" for ISIL. There are Truck markers in the grey (neutral) color.

Yep, you're right. I think it was on BGG that that was pointed out to me.
