Damn. Why did I sleep on this book? I'm familiar with Lemire's work and have enjoyed it. I thought this book was something very different from what I read.
I don't know what made me finally sit down and pick this up, but I'm incredibly glad I did. What I thought was just a straightforward mystery ended up having a lot more layers to it. A LOT. Suffice to say I did NOT see the turns the story was going to take.
I can see the art being a turn off for some, but it really fits the story. It's not your glamorous super hero style story, that's for sure. Really enjoyed the visual layouts on when things get a bit off kilter. Which happens a fair amount... or does it?
I'm not one for spoiling or giving things away, so this was a tricky video to do. I'm glad Image decided to condense the whole series into two big books. Going to be a tough wait for the next one. Now if they'd just give me a nice set of books like this with Graham's Prophet, I'd be a super happy highlord!
