Fantastic lol

I loved this series so much that I went and got the Green Arrow OHC by Lemire and Sorrentino, mostly because of Andrea’s phenomenal art. For that alone i am likely to upgrade from tpb to OHC. I love how the art is used to create a sense of disorientation and confusion. The colors and arrangement invoke a slight feeling of dread for something unseen, but insidious. This is my favorite horror comic of the past couple of years. If you like this, i’d recommend “A Walk Through Hell” by Garth Ennis.

I really like the approach image takes with their deluxe edition, keeping it simple and consistent.

Day one purchase for sure, can’t wait for volume 2 to finish the collection. Great overview as always brother 👌🏻🔥

Oh my gosh I love love LOVE this book. This is one of those that I have all the single issues and instantly preordered the hardcover. Lemire/Sorrentino books should be automatic buys, period. Speaking of. I STILL WANT MY OLD MAN LOGAN OMNI, MARVEL!!!

Hey Omar, I read issue 1 online, then pre-ordered this OHC as soon as I heard about it. Also, I stopped into one of local charity shops today and got a pristine copy of Deathnote volume 1 & 2 collection edition. $4! My first Manga as well, so I'm glad you're doing a horror round up soon :)

that cover finish is called 'spot UV' or 'spot gloss'... just in case you're interested. Gloss lamination is put on top of matte to give that effect.

@@brianjones8721 yep, there are loads of production techniques and creative ways of finishing covers. And that's on top of different printing processes, types and number of inks used, matte and metallic foils, varnishes and all kinds of different papers. There are lots of options to make things in print look amazing.

I'm glad the decided to slip this series into two volumes as this is my ideal OHC thicknes!

I came into this series completely blind and I must say it's a fantastic series with a unique premise the art is fantastic and the writing reminds me of my own style definitely will keep up with the series and hope it gets an adaptation

One of my favorite horror comics that I never see anyone talk about is Wytches by Scott Snyder and Jock. Very cool book that I really hoped they would have made more continuations of, but still an excellent read.

Wytches is a nice one, but Severed from Snyder aswell, is superb in my opinion.

I wish they made this an all in one hardcover

I am one of those with the misconception that this collected the whole series. It’s because instead of soliciting after the relevant trade volumes were released, the Deluxe HC solicit dropped just after the series had concluded. But whatevs. I’ll buy Lemire’s books any day of the week

This run definitely needs an all in one Compendium

It seems to be a mixed bag of opinion with this one. I've just ordered it so I'll give it a go since I'm a fan of both creators

HELP!! Does anyone else's copy have a page order problem? My copy has like 15-20 pages from the back of the book printed in the front.. Also, any suggestions as to what/who I can contact to get a new copy? Or am I just screwed? I purchased it from Cheap Graphic Novels.

Contact them. I think your copy might be a one off misprint. They may have to reach out to Image

I love Gideon Falls but it is my only Image Book where i lose a lot of the art in the middle, because of bad binding and the paper is getting waves into it. Dunno, maybe it is just bad quality

@@LoneWolf-ky7cq I stretched the spine. I did everything you’re supposed to. It’s just a shoddily made book. But also, thicker books are just prone to droop and other issues unless you build a shoe for them. I’d sooner have more and thinner books that don’t need molly coddling-but not TPBs, because they too easily warp.

I actually prefer thinner deluxe hardcovers. With glossy paper, more than 400 pages tears too much at the spine when standing straight up. Also they become too heavy to read comfortably. About 300 pages is ideal. For the same reason I store all of my omnibuses horizontally.

Even though I really want this standing in my bookcase, I felt like the double splash pages really didn't translate well to a thicker format even with the TPBs. Glad you touched upon that towards the end, cause this series really employs those kind of splashes and unorthodox panel work etc a LOT. I'd say that's probably its best feat - the story is interesting enough but it felt rushed and anticlimactic towards the end to me. I haven't read the single issues, but I can imagine they do the artwork and storytelling style more justice. Honestly reading this digitally is probably the way to go in that respect. Kind of a shame, but I guess it can't be helped.

Something tells me this isn’t Gravity Falls

I've not enjoyed Lemire's writing, having read Black Hammer and Descender, finding them too slow and derivative. Your comments make me suspect that this may be the case with this title too, though I'd love to be proven wrong.

I love Jeff Lemire but this is one of the most disappointing stories I've read since I started collecting graphic novels. Completely messed up the ending, and it felt like the story never went anywhere. Lemire's Essex County, Underwater Welder, and Black Hammer are on a different planet to Gideon Falls.
