TC, an ex-LEGO designer, explained recently that each color of rubber band has a different tension rating. In this case, it looks like the blue rubber bands have *too* much tension [causing the engine nozzles to curve inward].

its such a good solution to use the four seemingly weaker whites, two on either side, than two blue total.

“Balance of FORCE” Jang is awesome.

Honestly I love all of them. Having the blue/gray resistance one, Poe's new white and orange, and the Rebellion one, I think the newest version is almost the most refined they can do. That being said, the first ones back from 2015 were pretty dang good. Really high quality sets.

They all look amazing! I especially like the Rise Of Skywalker colour scheme for the newer X Wing Poe uses. I like your Abraham Lincoln like beard btw, JANG. XO

Still prefer the ot x wings, still very fond of the 2015 and 2016 versions though!

I prefer my 7140 X-Wing. I worry about rubber bands degrading over time and prefer clicking the wings into place.

I really miss the 2013 background music; it brings so much nostalgia!

The black and orange really works for me, it just perfectly pleases my brain

I have all 3 and I think the rise of skywalker is my favorite build, but I love the blue/gray color scheme.

I’m so pumped for this retrospective series. That first sequel trilogy wave is what made me discover your channel. Been watching ever since!

I love how they progressed and to say the truth, I was interested in Poe X-Wing from Episode 7 (black one) but then decided not to buy it. It's a shame that we got the Resistance X-Wing and not a Blue Squadron X-Wing from Rogue One.

I mean I just got a clearance price T-65 from 2018 and went on bricklink and found the dark red pieces in dark blue. Then I found some dark blue 1x2 tiles and bam, I’ve got a blue squadron X-Wing. Not an official set unfortunately but it cost me a total of $55 for everything plus the time to assemble it.

I bougth all xwing version this year and Im so so happy!! including 1999 and special edition crhistmas xwing, each one is so emblematic, i dont go for competitions betwen them

I was exhausted out of my right mind when I watched this, so when he said balance of force and got all excited, I was like, what's so exciting, for a good 20 seconds, then I caught on!

The orange one looks like it would fit in with the Ice Planet theme from the '90's.

X-wing fighters are always iconic. What i am missing today is that the kids don‘t play with these lego xwings. They build them and put it on the shelf. No kid outside... no one. Lego... is too expansive to play with it outside. It is a pity. In the 70s and 80s we went outside snd took our legomodels with us. And it was so much fun. Flying around and in the neighborhood. Wow, it was awesome. Our models were not that overengeneerd, but we loved them therefor.

It is fun to see the evolution of the designs. Due to cost and time, the vast majority of fans (of LEGO & Star Wars in this case) will never have the chance to compare and contrast multiple versions of a set that they love. Generally speaking, it seems that the more modern designs are decent improvements, to say the least. Bravo LEGO and designers for keeping the bar high and for working hard to improve each time around.

The 2015 one's color scheme is just awesome! It reminds me of the Jek-14's stealth starfighter from 2013 , which is also super cool!

Quick fact, StarWars is in the genre of Space Western. Space Western was very popular in the 50’s and early 60’s.

A: We have to change colors. We cannot have blue rubber bands with black/orange colors. Make a quick, simple change. B: OK. Fixed. Blue rubber bands with blue/grey colors. A: Perfect. Me: Quick and simple???

I actually really like the color scheme of the newest build! The orange-white-blue coloration really makes it stand out among the grays and black of most X-Wings.

"You don't have anything to balance the Force with" -Jang 2020 :D

There's one issue I have with JANG's analysis in terms of look vs. play. I know JANG is always cognizant that these _are_ toys and that we shouldn't lose sight of that. The decision to have shooters only on the bottom of the new X-wing was the wrong decision for sure. However, having the lever for the S-foils on the top was the correct decision for play. It's quite satisfying while swooshing, to be able to flick the wings open with one hand. Having the lever on the bottom instead, as JANG suggested, would take away that awesomeness. Because that top section is greebling on the in-universe X-wings, I think it was a natural choice for the positioning of lever, even if it sacrifices a bit of the look. Although I really wish that knob part came in a different color other than black and tan.

I adore the streamlined paintjob of the TROS version, how the orange flows all the way through the white base.

Really enjoying the series so far!

There are several people who do comparison videos, but what makes this uniquely better is that Jang focuses on the design evolution of different aspects of the set. It is easy for anyone to put the sets side by side and compare overall design, but this goes a step further by looking at the individual pieces and how they are used and changed for improvement. Bravo Jang!

The generic resistance v-wing is deffinetly my favorite . Love how the blue and grey go together . The rise of Skywalker x-wing looks like it belongs in the Lego City coast guard theme . And the Force Awakens x-wing is good but like the blue one more .

I love the black and orange of the original Poe Dameron's X-wing, but the build of the newest one from 2020 is obviously the best of the three

I really like Poe Dameron's original black and orange x-wing, which is likely due to the fact I own the set and it's the only X-wing I have. I especially love the LEGO version of it because of how well the colours pop with the glossier plastic used for LEGO bricks. I remember Jang's video back in 2015 when he mentioned that point when comparing it to a regular toy non LEGO version

This is a good retrospective.

Pretty sure the pole that sticks out underneath is supposed to act as a stand rather than a slamming down wing closing mechanism. It sticks down far enough that it's at about the same level as the ends of the wings so the weight is dispersed better. It can't be a wing closing play feature because if you slam it on a surface, it pushes against the wings at the same time as the pin so you're applying pressure on the wings before they can close so you end up bending the plates until to pin pushes the lever that closes the wings.

The black X-Wing ended my many year hiatus from Lego. Naturally I've purchased almost every X-Wing since (only skipped polybags.) Solid set. Absolutely love the new one, just don't love the new price. I was able to get both of the old ones at a pretty significant discount, but discounts have been few and far between this year.

Thanks Jang. Orange + black own it love it. I do like the other colours. Just like how Poe is invincible in the air.(except in a tie) On the ground or hanger very vulnerable.🤠

Please keep Poe’s 2015 X-Wing built for me, when the review of it came out I watched it religiously because I was in love with the set and really wanted it, and the look into the new world of Star Wars before the movie came out was incredible, it was such a special time for me, I own all three of these X-Wings plus the Hasbro version of the 2019 one but the 2015 one will always have a special place in my heart because of your review and the nostalgia I have for it and the time period we lived in 🖤🧡

I really like the gapless closed s-foils of the newest design, but in attack position I don't like them at all. It really bugs me how much smaller the bottom one is compared to the top.

I have the orange and black one and I absolutely love it! I’m super biased towards the color though. Orange being my favorite and the black is just a great combination color. The build for the orange and white one looks better though. I look forward to the rest of these retrospectives!

2:42 Star wars squadrons: Am I a joke to you ?

New design with grey or white and a variety of colors. Need to fill out a few squadrons.

I recently built a recolored version of the 2020 design into the 2016 resistance colors. It looks SLEEK

The 2020 build with the black & orange colour scheme. In fact, I'm now exploring the possibility of doing that since I have all of them and I've already disassembled the 2020 one.

I retrofitted the original mechanism from the first two sequel x-wings into the original trilogy Xwing, but kept the two elastic bands so I could fill in the horrid gap across the top. It took only very minor modification to achieve it, but you gained the best of both worlds. You could probably achive the same result with the third sequel Xwing to remove the gap and detail the top.

I like the colors of the black and orange

I hope we continue to get a lesser but steady stream of sequel sets going forward. When we get entire waves for things like TCW and episode 9, it leaves no room for other parts of the franchise. We should at least get 2ish sets per trilogy per wave imo

That black and orange is my favorite scheme, but the build for the latest one is far better. If you find the time you should definitely make a T-65, T-70 and T-85 Jang fighter

I always loved the sleek, black and orange color scheme for the 2015 version. That one's definitely my favorite. Second place goes to 2019, and last place goes to 2016.

I have both the Red Five from 2018 as well as Poe’s from this year. Both are amazing sets, I just wish I could’ve been able to get the 2015 one too.

For those wondering, the most recent version of this X-Wing is available at Walmart on clearance. If you can manage to find one at the right store, they're closer to $60 instead of the original $90

Out of these the resistance X-wing is the best and therefore it compares to the OT X-wing which is the base model and a great design. Better for army building and battle/dogfight dioramas.

Will you be doing a video about the incorrect sets (First order AT-ST, Heavy Scout Walker, Etc) and the communication issues that led to their existence? I’ve always found this very interesting and I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on the matter.

I honestly prefer the knob on top to open the S-Foils. it allows more detail to be put on the model, and they work similarly, as opposed to the old worm gear mechanism of past X-Wings that is.

I have 75102 (to go with my original 9493 X-Wing) and I must saw I prefer the colour of that one over the Blue and white/orange. Also, you never mentioned but 75273 has the Astromech turned the proper way (finally)
