Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

I am 65 and Zeppelin was IT. Lots of harsh in those days. Saw them in 1975 Montreal. This is Zeppelin best overall record. All members of Zeppelin were equals on this record. The music captures the mythical and the sacred. There is no profanity. Give a thumbs up if you get it thank you

It amazes me how much the kids today love it the way we did in the late 60’s and throughout the 70’s!
We had a teacher @ LBJ high school in Austin in '75 let each student pick a song to play for the rest of the class. Most were Debbie Gibson, Bread, yea top pop and soft rock. I put on Whole Lotta Love. The longest 5:35 seconds of my classes life! I closed my eyes and loved that moment. I was jeff spicoli for a day! Rock till you drop!

I played them on a piece of shit record player handed down from my mother, because they didn't want me to blast them too loud on something better. This was from the late 70's into the 80's. Intermixed in the albums were Gordon Lightfoot, Chicago, and Fleetwood Mac, among others. The only band that influenced me as much as Zeppelin was Deep Purple, and the Beatles. I know I still am very much so. Let history repeat itself through the generations. It still plays on classic rock radio 50yrs later. But we get to say we were there and some of us have it on vinyl. I know I have my original vinyl album and my precious memories attached to this album. I wouldn't change a thing. The timing was perfect. So stop saying they were before their time. Only thing I'd slide around is the timing on the quality of recording equipment. Not to say digital won anything all the way out... the sweet spot for me was within the 80s, particularly the later years and into the 90s. The entire front end was the best analog equipment money could get... Even this cleaned up really nice considering the "loose" overall nature of the sound (a big part of the appeal in Zeppelin's sound if you ask me), so maybe I'm torn there too and just have to agree that it's perfect as it stands 🤷♂️🤣 Either way this is one of their best, arguably THE best.

@doznoff362 It's fair to say this is their most poppy, radio-friendly album. So staunch Zep heads might turn their nose up at it just a tad. Compare it to the testosterone-fueled Graffiti that followed. I love it though. I like that the albums all have slightly different vibes. I and II really could have been a double album as they are thematically similar and came out the same year. III is an obvious acoustic/folksy departure. IV is argaubly peak Zep. In the vein of I and II. Then this is more poppy. PG unzipped its pants and pulled its balls out. Not for women. But also kind of consistent, unlike earlier albums that had different genres. Presence... I don't care for that one too much. The IttOD was more synthy and modern I suppose. But you can figure out what you-re in the mood for and put an album on.
I will be 70 in March, in the 70’s they were # 1 .☮️☮️💜💜💜🔮

Led Zeppelin music is Drug Music. You listen to it straight, it's great music. You listen to it under the influence, it's just incredible.

@@custom55 What's that gritty substance on the crease of the fold? Might be just enough in there for the bong to get a slight buzz.

@@villainousappetite8841 yeah love Zep 2… HoH is more of a “look at us, we can be weird and still vibe.” They tried so many new things in this one, genres, time signatures, vocal ranges, instrumentalism etc So awesome, the range of style they had in their career.

am 72 and this music is our music from teenagers. Our formative years were enveloped by a Love Revolution with a hope that we. could change the world and for a time we did.❤🌎☮️🌺🌺🏵️🌹🌹🍌🌷🌷🌼🙏🪻🌠😎🎥
Thank you Lord for bringing me to earth during this time period in musical history so I that I was able to bear witness in real time to the greatest that ever was or will be.

Deborah, your parents 'brought you' to Earth, love - not the mythical entity that your parents (evidently) claimed was responsible. And if by "the greatest that ever was or will be" you're referring to Led Zeppelin (whose music I love), you need to get out more. :-)

The band that can never be pigeonholed into any sub-genre, this album provides the evidence. Thanks for putting these up.

Anytime I need energy, there are some jams I pump on this one! Loved the ocean and over the hills and no quarter but the older I get, I just love Dancing Days. Have an awesome day and bless you all! Time to wake up to Zep and punch the clock!
One of the greatest albums of all time.
