I bought this album as a 14 year old in 1979. I had Led Zeppelin I, II, IV, Houses of the Holy, Physical Graffiti, Presence and In Through the Out Door. I bought III at the time to merely say I had the complete catalog. And then I laid it down on my turntable. It became my favorite of all of them. I'm now 57. And I still lay the same vinyl album I bought as a 14 year old down on my turntable and just....well, hell. Just listen to the album and you will understand why. Peace.

Listening to this with my daughter and she commented on the squeak from the foot pedal on the drums, after relistening I can hardly hear it near the start. Apart from my my 65 yr old ears not as sharp as they used to be, this is one of my favorite songs that I used to sing to myself when working.

My brother would play this religiously EVERYDAY.... The neighbors hated us and I was small so I didn't get it either but as time passed I began too and when he heard me playing it, he smiled and shook his head, said "took you long enough" ... Thanks big bro 😃😄😁🌟✨🙏💫🎶

The music that Led Zeppelin recorded and released between 69 and 79 can never be duplicated. Their music will forever be timeless.

Actually, they've had the technology to duplicate music recorded and released since at least 1969. That's how they were able to sell so many copies (nudge-nudge). However (having fully understood your comment), I must totally agree with you.

Saw them in 1970 perform this song ,which Page thought was his best guitar playing as a band member, and they ended the concert with Whole Lotta Love. Bonham thundered thru Moby Dick in betweeen. Whats not too like?

I'm 82 and have been listening since day 1 and still can't get enough LZ.

The adrenaline of LZ - 1... The power of LZ - 2... and beautiful pastoral acoustics... Mature and closest to their creative essence... (paving the way for LZ - IV) ... Lord have mercy ! I hope before I die that I am able to tell the surviving members that -LZ-III was my favorite album... I will become a friend of theirs immediately.... and they will greet me in the Rock Valhala...

Still, it's almost like a culture shock to see a full LZ album on KZread, especially from the creators themselves (and I'm 24 haha)

@@loon13100 while each album has some gems, I feel the first 4 albums are stronger than the last few albums (in through the out door, Presence, Coda). Although I think Coda wasn’t an “official” album.

Most underrated zep album I really appreciate the more acoustic tracks such as tangerine gallows pole bron-y-aur stomp as well as the soul wrenching emotional roller coaster that is since I’ve been loving you featuring plants most soulful and howling vocals as well as Jimmy pages beautifully talkative solos with jpj and bonzo being their usual discreet yet all the important selves. This album is when zep really started to discover who they were in my eyes.

i was just thinking the kick on immigrant song sounds like a wet cardboard box...but each to his own - it s like the heavy songs were compromised to blend with the softer stuff. first listen for a while and i just listened to Zep 2 so quite a contrast in mix

I was incredibly lucky! I was learning guitar SERIOUSLY, had learned every note of Led Zeppelin 1 & 2, and I got to see the last “New Yardbirds” show, the first time they hit Seattle, I saw them LIVE! In 1968 - 1969, and multiple times in ‘69 and ‘70, 2-3 times in ‘71. All the time watching Jimmy live, learning by not just LP’s but seeing him do things live that helped me develop my skills. BUT, when I heard the solo on “Since I Been Loving You” ...... when they change to Fminor and Page hits a high note and slides down to the exact perfect note to continue, I swear on my mothers’ grave, I FELL OFF THE CHAIR! Almost like a guitar is too good to even hear blackout or something. There is no lick that is hard, no trick, just pure gut feeling like I’ve never heard before, I made them play that solo over and over again, bribed them with what we called pot back in the 60’s and early 70’s... so they kept playing it. I am 70 years old, been on the road as a kid for 15 years, then at 30 got a real job, but to this day, that solo, only done by Jimmy, on that LP, gives me shivers every time. 16 or 70 years old, I am back in that room, hearing for the first time all over again.

I’m caught between this album and Physical Graffiti. Each hold a different feeling to different times and places in my life. I remember having to sneak around with my friends to listen to Zeppelin, the parents didn’t approve, imagine that in light of what parents have to deal with today. We were getting great quality music and lyrics.

Led Zeppelin is just so beautiful and this record was absolutely one of the finest examples of a band that was making a huge notch as one of the greatest in rock n' roll history! It's truly a gift to mankind

Led Zeppelin has been my favorite band for decades, and my two favorite albums of theirs for most of that time has been Led Zeppelin III and Houses of the Holy. So many of their albums are masterpieces!

No wonder LZ admired Joni. The secret to both’s artistic success: make the first track EXACTLY what fans want to hear, then blow their souls wide open with the rest of the tracks being SO UNEXPECTED!

One of my Mom's favorite albums...RIP, Mom, and thanks for the lovely memories.

I remember the day I fell in love with Led Zeppelin. I think I was 15, so 1977-78. I was familiar with the LZ songs that everyone heard on the radio. One day in school, a boy I barely knew loaned me his LZ II album. Played it softly at first, but by dinner time, it was cranking and my dad was yelling. 😄 The sound blew me away, and is unmistakably present in every song performed and recorded. By the time i handed back that boy's record on Monday morning, I had the lyrics, beat, and every guitar squeal of Whole Lotta Love ingrained in my memory, mind, and soul.❤

How lucky I was to see them at Allie Pally London in 1973. Overpoweringly awesome. Never forgotten the energy of Rock roll. Transcendent.

Me in Japan about 20 years ago,this was the first album of Led Zeppelin I bought. I can’t remember how many times I listened. I couldn’t understand this. But this definitely changed my world happier and more colorful, beautiful.

I was born in 67. The Beatles split in 69. Leaving a blank canvas, called the 70s. Led Zeppelin came right on through, and dgrabed those heavy reins. With that brush, from the hand of God, and filled that in for the next 10 yrs. Your so right, I was born in the 50’s and was a teenager just in the exact time when the Beatles had kicked it off, but Led Zeppelin hit the shelves at the End of 69 and early 70’s with LZ 1 & 2 and Heavy Rock & Roll was it. Some of the Best R&R ever, The Who, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper’s Love it to Death & Killer two masterpieces. List was the best, then Yes, Stones were at their peak, Bowie, etc.

This was my first Led Zeppelin album. I got it when I was in Nam 71. Wore it out. Just listened to it the first time in years. Try to imagine what it was like listening to new music like this. I was fascinated by this sound and it is still my favorite Led Zeppelin album.

@@Cobra7071 No kiddin. My best friend was 101st, 75th Rangers. He was an LRRP in the A Shau valley around that time. I don't think he ever saw Camp Eagle, but he was in Hue (at the worst time to be there). Two of his 3 tours seemed to hug that 17th parallel. His eyes light up when we talk about the USO events. He thought Bob Hope was great.

@@hob976 thanks man been to Hue myself but it was quiet then. I worked on Cobras and Hueys at B 5th Trans Bn at Eagle. I was lucky just a few rocket attacks and some mortars. Nothing like the grunts had to endure. Thanks again for replying it does bring back memories. There were some great memories to go with a few bad ones.

I'm glad you (belatedly) discovered Led Zeppelin. No disrespect intended, but where the hell have you been? A few years ago, they started a new band called Greta Van Fleet. You should give them a listen.

First heard led zep when i bought an old reel to reel to fix and it came with led 3 on it. Love them! I would have never taken the time to learn an instrument if it wasn't for led zep. That was 1991 i was 13.😊

Perfect album, a true masterpiece

LOVE the spinning disc! Memories of the good old days of vinyl! I still have mine.

How many of these we wore out... Real music.Real Rock Stars.

Man I'm 59 now discovered led zeppelin in 1975 still to this day nothing makes me feel like the mighty zeppelin I will rock this till the day I die 😊

This is one of my all time favorite albums!! Get a guitar and tune yourself some free open G. It's not that hard to do. Some of it is easier to play than you might think.

@@ZEROmg13 I remember at the time that some people couldn't come to terms with the amount of acoustic guitar used on tracks they didn't see as rock numbers, hence the soft criticism. Fools, all of them.

@@thalesmendeslima1552 Well, while all Led Zeppelin albums are equally their Best Album, I'll grant you that some of their albums are more The Best than others. Your case in point is a prime example. Plus, I hated that particular album cover. 😂

Wow, I don’t think I have heard this album for over 50 years, even more impressive now that I’m in my 60’s. just timeless. ❤️

I was given a cassette of this in 1978. I still have it. My favorite album. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Since there are dozens of comments on how unique and fresh, (with old folk instruments and licks), for those who are too young to know, this album was released with an inner wheel, which could be turned by rotating the edge of the cover, revealing a series of new art images, which would slid into place onto the die cut cover. Very revolutionary for it's day, and if you can find one with the vinyl in decent condition, grab it up and enjoy a different time of art and music, it's a real treat.

Oui oui j'ai 66ans et toujours fan du zep.Ils ont revolutionés le hard rock...simplement genial

One of the least popular albums of Zeppelin but one of my favorites showed their versatility and creativeness of changing from rock to folk music and a little bit country ! 👌

Never be another band as good as led zep

My Mom got me my very first album and it was this. I was 13. I had a bunch of 45's but was my first album! I thought my Mom was the greatest person ever for getting this. I'm 67 and it's still one of my favorites!

Might be my favourite Zeppelin album. Two great heavy songs ("Immigrant song" and "Since I've been loving you") but also several nice acoustics. Glad I grew up with music like this instead of the mostly rubbish that comes from the radio today.

It was recorded live in the studio with very little overdubs. Simply amazing.

This is definitely my favorite Led Zeppelin Album. How the tracks are lined up. I always thought it sounded like they recorded it all in one shot. In one big room with different instruments.

When Led Zep came out with III, I and a lot of other fans did not know what to make of it. It does not sound like I & II, but it led to the incredibly great IV. After listening over and over to this album you can see, even though it was highly underrated by contemporary fans it is one of the top albums of all time, and marks the beginning of the most creative time of this greatest heavy rock band of all time.

Друзі,це щось неймовірне...не має слів щоби виразити те що вони роблять з мізками...я їх слухаю з 70 року.Це найкраще що може бути в цьому стилі...і не тільки,адже це вікова музика.Я так само люблю дуже багато груп...в цілому люблю всіх,але це щось неймовірне,включаючи Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen...і багато багато і інших,важко перечислити...але це ,повторююсь,щось неймовірне...звісно на мою думку друзі,які люблять таку фантастичну музику на всі віка.Це класика рока...і не тільки.

Second to Presence album. One of the greatest Led Zeppelin masterpiece.

As a 13 yo, this record opened a lot of doors to other genres. For that, I am grateful.

Ohhh, I love me some Zepp. Since 1972 (my birth) I have never once faded in my love of Led Zepp. All other music of the 20th century has come and gone, and the Zepp remains prominent. Musical Prowess + Execution + Diversity + Power + Creative Vision = Led Zeppelin. Zepp 3 remains perhaps one of my favorites, but really it's Albums 1-5 that remain 100% perfect. Think of it. 5 consecutive perfect albums. Unparalleled, except perhaps my Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, or Rachmaninoff.

Thanks, Zep, maybe I needed this right now.

I called this the "Ugly Duckling" album. Every year it became more beautiful to hear.
