Omg you are so motivating. I am so happy that I found you. I hope to play the violin by the end of this year. You are helping a lot. Thank you.
I just bought a violin, but am too busy to take personal lessons from a tutor. While surfing the net I stumbled on your channel by sheer chance. You are an amazing teacher. Your style of teaching is absolutely lovely. I haven’t seen any other videos that are so systematic. I am 68 years old, but am sure I will be able to play the violin on my own after practising with your videos. Thank you so much for uploading such wealth of knowledge.

Really enjoy this class - on day 4 now and feel like I'm learning a lot. thanks.
Thank you Madame teacher. I really like the way you teach, just started last week, without having any previous experience playing violin. And I can play as good as you play in your teachings. I also want to appreciate your attitudes that make your teaching appealing to everyone. And this is how a teacher should be. I will definitely share your videos and tell people and friends about your method and your channel. Sincerely, Shahram.

Thank you so much, Miss Henriette! I am a 50 year old has wanted to play Violin since I was a little girl. I received a very special violin for Christmas, a family heirloom that my mother had refurbished for me. And YOU are helping make my dream come true!! I am having a little trouble with finding the right pitch and keeping my fingers in place, but I suppose that is normal. I will keep practicing as long as you will keep teaching me💕

Thank you so much for sharing these lessons. There are many violin teachers on KZread, but I don't think I could stick with any of them long term except you. You remind me of my favourite English teacher years ago called Jane. She was lovely, and you're lovely too! ☺️

Thank you, ma'am, for these videos! I'm a beginning player, at 59 years old. I am a semi-professional guitarist, but new to the violin. I'm having SO much trouble holding a note on the strings, with my big man fingertips, without muting the adjacent strings. I'm still so new to this, and I hope to get around this problem with improved technique, but big fingers are a problem for me just now.

Thank you so much for your help and your assistance! I am learning so much from your lessons and your routine is so important for my proper development! Hi Henriette, just wanted you to know that I’ve been very diligent in my approach to leaning. I have been going over Day 3 and 4 daily and just taking my time. My bowing and string control is much stronger. Still have slight bouncing in my bowing and I know that if I relax it goes away. Thanks for your great teaching. Will keep in touch, Mikael

Thank you for this wonderful series. This is a gem. I'm a beginner and as of now I have one problem that bugs me. While moving the bow from heel to point, approx at the middle of the bow, my bow starts bouncing. This doesn't happen while I'm bowing from point to heel.

at first i wanted to thank you for the great work you put publicly on the internet. as a classical pianist learning the violin it has been more than wonderful to me. i'd be pleased if you could answer a question of mine: when you're bowing, the bow hair should be always parallel to the string, in the sense of all of the hair touching it, or it is acceptable to be a certain angle?
May I suggest that you make a playlist of your Suzuki videos so that it's easier to find imho... thanks for your videos ❤

I am on day 4 and I’m taking my time. I’ll do day 4 for a few days before I go on to day 5. My question is, is it a good idea to play with a tuner on the violin? If not how will I know if I’m hitting the notes correctly?
Hi! I’m 21 and just started playing (taking a little break from 17 years of piano and trying something new! :) I’m wondering if you have any advice for keeping the pinkie from collapsing on the bow hold, and likewise making the pinkie reach for the correct pitch on the left hand position. I find my finger likes to tuck next to my ring finger. Thanks for a great lesson :)
@violinclasses

Hi Chloe, Thank you for your message. Your pinky will grow stronger over time. Keep practising the bow exercises and allow 6-8 weeks for the muscles to grow stronger. You might also try my bowing video in the technique playlist. That should help your pinky as well.kzread.info/dash/bejne/a46nqa1uhJmvlM4.html

Hi! first thank you so much for the lessons😊 I wanted to ask why I sound scratchy and awful when I press with my finger while playing😅❤ I sound fine without the fingers but when I get the fingers it’s sounds bad
Good (Mostly) haha I Had a little trouble keeping my fingers bent AND my tennis ball at the same time but I never tried it till today I'll work on it
Hello Henriette, I am just wondering what my thumb should be doing while my other fingers are pressing the strings, should my thumb pushing onto the wood (side or the neck) or it should be just laying there without pressure. Thanks!
@violinclasses
3 жыл бұрын
Hi, it should just be lying there, pressing as little as you can. This meands that you will need to try and hold the violin up with your neck muscles. Thta's not so easy when you first start to learn to play. Your neck muscles will grow stronger over time, and that's when you will start to hold the violin less with your left thumb.
Hello again! What is the way to get sound in 'not open strings'? Because I can't produce a good sound.

Hello Madhvi, have you got enough rosin on your bow? Is the bow about in the middle between the bridge and the fingerboard?
Do you happen to also teach a class using Suzuki book 2? If not, where should one go to continue their violin journey?

Before placing your fingers did you place the V of your hand against t the top part of the neck whe oh will allow correct finger placment
Please explain Page 21 in the Suzuki book. I don't understand what I doing on that page.
While playing the A string, do we need to keep pressing the fingers while playing the succeeding note. Like , while playing the 3rd finger, is the 1st and 2nd finger kept presssed? Help me please, I am bit confused.

Hi Missa, yes your lower finger stay on the string as much as is possible, and if you can manage to leave them down softly, it is even better than pressing down.
loved your teaching and enjoying every bit of it , but I cannot easily put my pinky finger after ring finger on A string , its is hard to do , can you please tell me what to do then?
@violinclasses
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Diya, take your time with the pinky. It will take a few weeks for your muscles to grow stronger. Try going over the video a few days in a row, that should help. Good luck! 🎻👏🎻👏
I absolutely love your lessons, but I have a question. I have thicker shorter fingers and I’m having a hard time reaching. Will I eventually get more limber with practice or should I purchase a smaller violin? I have a full size at the moment. Thank you.
my violin is in tune and my open string is in tune when you play yours, but when I start putting fingers down on the A string, it is awfully out of tune with you. It would really help to see a top view of where you are placing your fingers on the string, how close/far they are from the others, etc. If not, any advice? I must be placing my fingers on down improperly.

Hi Kelli, thanks for your message. I will be doing a live class this Friday. Please come along here on KZread and I’ll show you. Are you pressing your fingers down hard enough so you stop the string?

I’m also having the same problem. I tried pressing the finger as lightly as possible but it’s still out of tune. Not sure what to do 😞
But when I put my finger on the string The violin does not make a sound. Should I put my finger on it hard or softly?
Thank you for sharing these lessons with the poor people ;-)

Hello henriette , when i place all my 4 fingers on the A string the sound gets scratchy why is this ?
@violinclasses
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ahmed, the most likely cause is that since with 4 fingers on, the part of the string that can vibrate is shorter. Therefore, your bow will need to play nearer the bridge to produce the same quality sound. let me know if this helps.
