Thank you so much for the video classes! I play the violin per the Indian method, and hence was looking to expand to learning western method of violin playing, and most importantly knowing how to read sheet music. And you videos have really helped me get an overview of how to do that! Much love and thank you for this amazing work!

For now the trickiest part is going E string to 3 fingers A, but I guess that's because my fingers aren't that used to fall quickly together to the correct position. I'll practice this part the next days !

This is a really great tutorial though and I’m happy to be learning.

Hi Henriette! I'm an adult beginner and got my violin around two weeks ago. Practicing with your lessons has been the highlight of my days ever since! However, I find it takes my left hand-fingers rather a long time where they're supposed to be going, causing a lot of pauses in my playing. Could I be expecting too much too fast, or is there some bit of technique I might be failing to implement?

  • @violinclasses

Hi Nineathy, thanks for your comment! I would expect you to stay on each lesson for a couple of days before moving on to the next lesson. You have done great getting this far! Perhaps it is time to slow down a bit and let your fingers get used to their new way of moving, as you will probably have noticed that all movements are different from how you use your arms/hands/fingers in every day life. 😀🎻

Hello. Thank you very much to be my violin teacher…. I really appreciate every lesson. One thing that I have problems with is long bow. I try so hard to do all the things you say but I can hardly reach the point of the bow…is it possible that it’s easier for for taller person ? I mesure 5’1, and the bow mesure 29 1/2 inches…. Thank you Henriette.

Hi Danielle, I am not aware that bowing might be easier for taller people. It may have something to do with how you hold the violin. Come and join my live class this Friday at 1pm right here on this channel and I will show you how a violin hold might affect bowing. If you cannot make it on Friday, you can watch the recording back afterwards.

Aim to be able to play each piece without any mistakes before moving on to the next piece. Having said that, you should definitely expect that each previous will feel easier as you move on. So make a habit of revisiting older lessons as well. Hope this helps!
