Thank you for posting this. I really needed this, I needed know I wasn't alone in what I was feeling. He literally had a clean bill of health from the vet weeks ago and then overnight all his lymph nodes were insanely swollen. I was so confused because I also ALWAYS check his body for anything (ticks, bumps, lumps). So, I also thought it would be simple antibiotics. He is my whole life for a full 17 years. I don't know life without him. He's not gone yet since he just got diagnosed officially this morning. Unfortunately, I will not be going through with chemo as his old age makes it more difficult. Please never remove this video. For other people in the future to find and know they're not alone.

My old buddy when in for his checkup less than two months age,the vet said for his age he was in good shape. He was laying with his head on my thigh, when I started to rub his neck I could feel a big mass under his neck. He's going to the vet tomorrow to get checked out but from all the research I've done I'm pretty sure that's what it is. I'm really down right now.

He didn't have a crappy life no matter where you live(d). Dogs don't think like that. Look at homeless people with their dogs, those dogs are just wagging their tails away! Dogs love their families, they don't think about material things. You spent time with him - that's all a dog would ever want. He HAS the best life. Live in the now. You are such a great dog Dad!

Unfortantly i never owned a dog, so dont have any suggestion. You and Scout, impacted my life so good. I was playing compputer games all day long before, when i stumbled across one of your videos where u were building a bushcraft camp. For christmas i wanted a Knife, Axe, Backpack, Pants, and all the outdoor stuff. And i got it! Im still only 14 years old, but i go out with my friends in the wild for a night or 2, and you made me go out. So i appreciate that a lot, and im going to pray for Scout every night. Prednisone has anti-cancer effects and could help scout feel better for the period of time and approximately 50% of dogs with the treatment will respond to it alone so I hope will see this and if he hasn't gotten this drug from his vet possibly look into getting it for scout aswell as looking into getting immunotherapy or antibody therapy done

We love Scout, always have and always will. We also love your relationship with him. Our condolences to your family. I am so glad that you read those pill names to us, because I can help out with a suggestion. You mentioned Green Tea extract. While this is "healthy", I suggest a different type of tea extract. I'm a massive believer in the healing properties of a tea called Yerba Mate. It's an ancient ceremonial tea from South America. Like 75% of households drink this tea in Argentina. The closest ceremony that I can liken it to, is the Indian peace pipe ceremony. People stand around in circles drinking this tea and having conversations. It makes you feel insanely good, which is why I love it. I buy this tea by the pound (and it's not that expensive - think around 15 or 20 bucks). I've put together my research into a social media post, which I will copy-pasta for you. When you read the medical benefits to this tea, you might even start drinking it. You can drink it all day without getting the jitters, and it will make you feel high-ish.

I just went through this and pretty much the exact thing happened with my 5 yo lab mix.. I had no idea how sick she was.. until the lymph nodes in her neck started closing off her airway as well. I woke up and I had both my dogs and by noon I had to make a decision I was no where ready to make.. She peacefully died in my arms 4 days ago… She held on for me as long as she could I didn’t even no she was sick. She was such a sweet spirit who was abused by her first people and suffered from PTSD but came a long way the 4.5 years she was with me. I thought the same thing.. maybe a fatty tumor or infection but the lymphoma was in her liver and spleen. She didn’t act sick until the last 2 days. Take care of yourself.. it’s the hardest thing I’ve had to do in a very long time and I totally understand how much you were hurting ❤️

My 6 yr old boxer got lymphoma just as he turned 6. It's now 8 months later and he's still eating and happy (lymph nodes are getting larger again) but, I've been giving him CBD oil and it has made a huge difference. The Vet is amazed he is still alive. No chemo. Also, he started getting diarrhea and I gave him probiotics, it totally helped. I've been crying for the past 8 months. Your best friend does not deserve this. I know how your feel. CBD oil!!!!!! Give it to him on a empty stomach and wait 30 minutes before any food. My husband is in the medical field and can't believe how well it's been working.

Get yourself a walking staff of your choosing. Cover it with Scouts favourites treats and let him chew away. Put it away until you have the time to admire the gnawing and chew marks. It will remind you of all the sticks you tossed for him and all that he stole from you. Get it refinished and mount his dog tag to it. Later, it will bring a smile to your face with every step and be your cherished possession when you are reflecting in your old age. Joe, keep your stick on the ice.

No need to apologize for the tears... True man loves his family and let's it show. He is your first born, your first boy. There's no way you could hold back the tears, with all the memories and adventures rushing through your mind as you speak about and look at the big guy. You're an amazing human being, I know that, we know that and especially Scout knows that. At any point don't ever start to blame yourself, it is not your fault, you've been nothing but the best for the big boy and he loves you for it. I don't have any cures that I know of, I only have my support and love to give and I hope something miraculous happens and he'll be with you until he sleeps away of old age, fulfilled and happy... Stay strong, all of you.

My dog just got diagnosed last week. I had just put my mother in hospice. I was like you, I thought my dog, Ramone, had picked up an upper respiratory infection. Had swollen glands so I took him to the vet and they told me without doing a biopsy because it was obvious. And I’m a former vet tech. Have a degree in veterinary technology. We never had this much cancer in dogs 30 yrs ago. I’ve kept my dog from pesticides, good food. Ramone was never sick a day n his life. I lost my shit at the vet clinic. The next day my son and I took Ramone to a specialist to get a biopsy. The vet did me a solid so I wouldn’t have to wait for the results. The vet told me they found lymphoma on the slide. So we decided to get prednisone and we were supposed to start it in 24 hours but in a 12 hour. His gland went from a ping pong ball to the size of a tennis ball and I didn’t think he would live the night, he almost did not. We gave him the prednisone early and he started having breathing problems in the night and my son held him up from 1 AM to 5 AM because he was in respiratory distress. Luckily the prednisone kicked in. I feel the same as you. I had just given him a bath a few days before and he was running around playing with the neighbors dog. I was completely blindsided and devastated. So we are seven days into this horrible pit and we have done our research and there is so little out there because it cannot be cured. We decided not to put him through chemotherapy as it may make him sick and prolong the inevitable. We decided to try and stretch out the prednisone as long as we can. We felt like this was an easy decision after researchingLymphoma and dogs. The prognosis is devastating. My son and I cannot believe that our dog could possibly be dead within weeks even on the prednisone but then from it is a beast. So for here and today he’s doing fine on the prednisone although we do see changes in his muscle tone. The fact is so little is known about lymphoma in dogs. I read were one and 15 dogs will be diagnosed with lymphoma in their lifetime. So something is going on. As a vet tech I neverSaw this and I’ve saved a lot of pets lives but I feel like I can’t save my own pets life and I can tell you I have been crying for a week straight.

In addition to my previous comment, joe don’t beat yourself up over the life you gave scout. You gave him a wonderful life. Maybe the woods wasn’t always in his back yard but he spent more time in the woods than most dog do. His life is serving you. He doesn’t care where he does it, I guarantee that. Hell man look at him. He doesn’t ever know he is sick, so, don’t tell him. Do things he loves and love every minute you have with him. When he is gone those are the memories that will remain and the rest will be a distant nightmare. He’s 11. If my jenna had made it to December she would have been 10. It’s not fair and it’s not easy but scout has had an awesome life. Pray for remission and enjoy the time you have left, be it weeks or years.

Joe, I hope you receive this soon, and consider it. I did chemo treatment for a dog of mine that had lymphoma. It gave her at least two very good years more in life. Dogs react extremely well to treatment, do not lose their fur. I've been through it, and suggest you consider it. I am in Calgary, Alberta, and can get you in touch with the Vet I was using if you wanted some info or wanted your vet to speak to the vet here. I'm not sure how much it would cost where you are, but was quite reasonable for me to put her through the treatments. Food for thought, but my heart goes out to you for sure. Never easy to lose one of our fur baby's.

I have had a dog in the pass. Name was Dundy. Anyway this text is for you. It sadden me to see you so upset. You have a immense support group out here. We must understand that animal weren't meant to live forever. Its just not in their makeup. And this dog is not your ordinary dog. He eats good, get good exercise and breaths clean air. That's all got to count somewhere right? I will forward this clip to friends who gone threw this okay pal? Take care. Ted.

@TheBro THC isn't toxic...it is just that dogs get really stoned is all...you can get Phoenix Tears straight CBD oil from some of the medical cannabis sites. I used to get it from Weeds Canada, but they have shut everything down due to legalization....effing weird. If you can only get it with THC, try a smaller amount...I had a big Shepherd eat a half a tray of freezer burnt brownies that had been chucked, and it did her no harm other than being rather ripped for the day...and a bit into the next day.

CBD oils are actually usually derived from cannabis ruderalis plant which contains very little amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which, for those that do not know, is the chemical that gets you intoxicated, stoned, lifted, zooted, and or high.. However, the cannabis ruderalis plant does have higher concentrations of CBD (Cannabidiole) , which actually attaches itself to the deformed cell (which is what cancer is, the splitting and multiplying of the mutated cells) and stops the splitting and multiplying process, which in turn slows the growth of cancer and makes it a little easier to deal with. No, CBD does not kill, or cure cancer... Education is a wonderful thing. In other words, CBD oils are amazing with a ton of benefits! I hope that you see this Joe.

The thing that will keep him alive is the will to live. Keep him part of the fam, Don't let him feel something is wrong (so don't spoil him to much) Let him work for you because that is what he likes best and that is his will and purpose. if he loses that, than why would he fight. Also please respect him enough to not let him suffer. please don't try any wierd stuff on scout. The memory of him running around should not make place for a memory of a sick and suffering one. Scout knows you love him, Scout loves to be with your fam. You did not fail him. You could not have done anything different. The outcome would have been the same. Nature can be hard sometimes, But try to find the beauty in it How beautiful is it that the last part off his life is going to be the best part you could give. how awesome is it that he doesn't suffer. How amazing is it that even though he is that sick it doesn't seem bother him. How good is it that you know you still have him around. Yes it is hard to lose your best friend ,protector and guide. but how wonderful it is that you have got to know him. And when the time comes, we'll tell him he is a good boy.

Hi Joe, I sympathise with you 100%, I had two German Shorthaired Pointers, which were my babies and gave me the will to get up and face the day, especially when I was ill. A year past, my eldest dog, Mercedes, developed inoperable cancer, and she was laid to rest, she was 12yrs old. I still remember all the times we were out hunting or just in the fields running around loving every little bit of just being out. Poor Lexi, her sister two years younger is lost without her and won’t leave my side. Both my girls were never on a leash, they would come to my side when called, and when we were out in the wild they would come to the whistle. So Joe you cry as much as you need, any dog lover will completely understand.😥

Just know that Scout lived 10x the lifetimes of most dogs because you took him out on all those adventures. Also, he’s eaten more delicious steaks than most people have in their lifetime. He’s lived an amazing life, with a family that loves him...a pretty lucky dog. You need to do a video just for him and all his highlights...like all the times he chased falling trees for example. It sucks...thinking and praying for you, scout and your family.

Make sure if you go with the marijuana extracts to get a tincture that has BOTH THC and CBD! This is very important. THC when consumed is very effective at eliminating cancer cells and is not detrimental to healthy cells the Same way chemotherapy is. Chemo doesn’t work! 97% of chemotherapy is non-effective. It’s all about money. I would recommend watching ‘veterinary secrets’ video about this.

Thanks for sharing. My dog got a clean bill of health 3 months ago. 2 weeks ago he began throwing up which turned into no eating and no drinking and he became jaundiced. An ultrasound showed a tumor on his liver and he was diagnosed with large cell lymphoma. We put him down at the animal hospital because he was trembling, whining, and very weak. He was 12, almost 13. Fortunately I wasn't put into a situation where he was acting normal but known to be terminally ill, because he was a very sick boy. Good luck everyone.

Hey, friend. So sorry to hear about Scout’s diagnoses. Our next door neighbor’s dog had a cancerous tumor on his tail. He had surgery to remove it but the cancer remained. Instead of chemotherapy, my neighbor gave him CBD oil. He lived 2 more years in excellent health. He recently died of intestinal complications but not the cancer. I would suggest giving CBD oil a try. The company she bought it from is “Treatibles”. We can empathize because now we are facing surgery and radiation this week with my Labrador Retreiver who has a brain tumor. My Lab, Sky, who thinks she is part German Shepherd, saved me in so many ways. It is hard. Research the CBD oil. Praying for you, Scout and your family. -Peace. - Viz

I gave him raw cow liver and made him homemade stews with tumeric and blueberries. he also took B vitamins and prednisone. I did palliative care with him and he died at home with my husband and myself petting him while we waited for the vet to come over. He died before the vet made it over to our house and he lifted his head and looked at both of us and then he was gone just like that, we were devastated and I tried to do CPR but he was gone, its never the right time or long enough, its been 2 years and I still grieve. your video brought up a wellspring of tears, I pray he proves the vets prognosis wrong like my boy did 🐾🐾🐾

Hey Joe. I know the diagnosis is grim and so was ours for our Beagle. She was diagnosed with Lymphoma back in September of 2017 and with meds and care by us she made it till February 2018 with a "only a couple of weeks to live" diagnosis. Don't worry about youtube, don't worry about us. You spend the last couple of weeks he has with him. With his family. You are a strong man and even the strongest men break down when losing a best friend. Stay strong. You have had a great time with scout. My regret was not spending enough time with Lucy. Don't make the same mistake I did. The prednisone will keep him around for a while. I want to warn you that it may cause him to pee, eat, poop and gain weight a lot. He may not be able to control his bladder because of the meds. I don't recommend the chemo because it gives them pain that we cannot see, we as a family voted against giving Lucy chemo. If you need to talk. I'm always here. When it's time for him to go, you will know. I had lucy cremated and her front paws are stamped on an ink page and imprinted in plaster. I see her everyday on my fireplace mantle.

I'm 82 Joe, and have lived in a remote area of the Mojave desert in Southern California, for the past 43 years. I'm not a people person. My companions all my life have been at least one dog, but usually two. I now have a purebred Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Lou, and his little companion, a Pug named Annie. The three of us walk the desert sands morning and night, and the dogs need no leashes because no other people live anywhere near us. For those of us who love nature and animals--especially dogs-- the heartbreak of losing a companion like your Scout, is a torture of grief that comes with the intensity of loving in this life. All any of us have in this world is time. I'm grateful for the five years I've had with Lou and Annie. The 11 years you've had with Scout has been your gift in the Circle of Life. Lou looks into my eyes each morning when we start our walks, he's in his prime now at five years old, and he knows my time is ending. My love for Lou and for Annie will hold me until their lives end --I pray.. I think dogs also know the grief that comes when they lose a human they've loved. LOVE is the eternal flame, Joe. Scout knows. Dogs know so much more than we think they do.

Joe they make CBD products for dogs too. In case you didn't know... CBD is the medicinal compound found in cannabis/hemp and has no psychoactive effects, unlike it's THC counterpart. CBD can actually sober someone up from being "high" in the case of THC consumption. If it doesn't prolong life expectancy, I'm sure it would reduce the severity of his symptoms. I'm so scared to lose my dog now, he's only 3y this past month. I only recently found your videos, and watching them gives me motivation to do all these things i want to do, and the videos you have with your dog really reminds me not to take my buddy for granted. my german shepard got diagnosed with a bone cancer and they have her the same time. She lived for 3 years man. We started feeding her home cooked stews with tumeric and all the anti cancer stuff. Mostly to make her happy for the last few days, but she kept getting stronger and stronger. Don't give up and just keep loving brother. Good luck.

I lost my Rottie to bone cancer last year. We had his front left leg amputated because we were hoping to get at least another year or two with him, but unfortunately the cancer returned with a vengeance three months later in his back right leg. If I would have known he was going be in that much twice I would have never put him through it a second time. 😫

I lost my pit a month ago to mast cell cancer. They gave her a month and she lived another 18 months. You never know how they will react or how strong they are. They gave my dog a chemo drug called Poladia (unsure spelling) she did well. The worst thing was the long term effects of the prednisone. The prednisone did great but her hair fell out and she got calcium deposits all over her body but the prednisone buys time. Here is the deal man, scout will tell you when he is tired. You run that rope out till the end and then add some string to it. I hade tone of people tell me to put her down but I let her decide. It sucks but that’s life. If you want any more info feel free to contact me. Different cancer but I know how the game is played. Stay strong bud.

Lots of indiduals have suggested cbd oil. I use it for my chronic headaches/migraines and it works. Maybe it will do scout some good. I will keep you all in my prayers. Yes, he isn't a pet, he's a family member , a fury son. God bless.

Joe and family: I have watched you for years and have nothing but love and admiration for your family. One of the things I respect most about you is your love for your dog. When I was younger, before I had children, I adopted elderly dogs into my home so they could spend their retirement in a comfortable and loving home with a bunch of blankets, heat, companionship and food. I know how much you love Scout and how many thousands of people on the Internet feel when they see your bond with him. These next few weeks will be precious and difficult. Love Scout and talk to him as you always have. Spend your days together as you always do. Feed him extra good food. Pet him a little extra. Give him what you always do and add a little garnish. The fact that his body is giving way is natural and the best thing you can do for him is be with him in the way you have always been with him. He doesn't know anything other than the love of his pack. You are his lead - his compass in life. I am SO sorry to hear about his condition and empathize with your loss. I am tearing up as I write this even though my last canine companion passed six years ago when my youngest son was six-months-old. That young son, Forest, still tells stories of Cougar - the Irish Wolf Hound who never left his side as an infant. Dogs are truly our best friends. Joe - hold strong. Be with Scout. Just be. He has had a glorious and beautiful life and owes so much of that beauty to you and your family. Take care of him and don't look for any silver bullets. He doesn't need to prolong the inevitable. I remember those breathless nights of struggle for two of my dogs and know that, in both cases, they looked to me for guidance and comfort. You will know when the time is right to say goodbye. I can see in this latest video that Scout still has his wits and happiness. That is because of his tribe in spite of his age and illness. You get the credit for that. Scout has the best life a dog can have and you will have memories for decades to come. Love, peace, courage, Tim, Forest, Ariana, Luca, and all dogs that came before.

Bro don’t ever apologize for crying that guy is your best friend and family member I believe dogs come in to your life to teach you something and not every lesson is the same but the biggest lesson you’ll learn from them is how to love unconditionally I know this from experience my dog passed few months back and it took Me a little bit to figure it out but I got him when he was 6 and he passed at 8 I had gotten him from someone who should have never had him to begin with dirty house and very abusive physically and in that small window I had him he taught me that no matter where you came from or what situation you got out of that theirs still someone who cares about you and it doesn’t decide who you are after it’s all said and done because I was told he’s very aggressive towards people yet that wasn’t the case he was the most loving and friendly guy I’ve ever met
