I drive to a brand new 300 acre property where I have permission to build bushcraft shelters, forts, lean-to's whatever you want to call them :)
I spend the day snowshoeing though deep snow, searching for an ideal spot to set up a new permanent shelter.
As it sometimes goes, the day did not turn out the way that I had thought, but I learned some important things about the area, and I have a huge desire to get back there and build a really nice permanent camp.

I lost my girlfriend of almost 10yrs to a car wreck. It's been 2 years since then that I've been alone and sheltered myself and lost interest in most things in my life. But somehow I stumbled upon the idea of camping alone and enjoying the peace and quiet of nature. Since this new found hobby.. I have watched your videos religiously and learned a lot. I really admire and appreciate what you do and wish the best of luck to you and your family. Thanks for the videos.

Felt like stopping by to let you know this house thinks you are one cool cat, Joe! We fall asleep with your videos on nearly every night, and you are our favorite bushcrafter. We totally enjoy your personality. Your videos aren’t loaded with loud party music, and that, we appreciate. They are excellent wind down videos, and perfectly ok to fall asleep to without dealing with jump scares. I’d estimate we gave your channel at least 200 watch hours last year, my friend. We were very stoked to see you hit that million mark. Stay awesome, Joe!

Dear Joe, We all love and are so grateful for your bush camping survival videos! What you may not realize is that with your calm and soothing voice and patience lessons and explanations, there is a WHOLE GROUP OF UTUBERS who would LOVE your work CALLED ASMR's!!! ASMR types of brains are person who suffer from high anxiety due to extreme sensitivity to noise. So as you can yourself can imagine, watching your videos to escape from city noises is VERY RELAXING. Also you have a wonderful calm and soothing voice. This soothing experience of listening to slow whisper creates a sense of safety and sleepiness in our brains finally releasing us from years of adrenal fight or flight reactions . It also safely treats PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). ASMR is a HUGE utube movement. And there are NOT many 'ASMR bush craft' videos at all. So I was hoping you could look into it, it requires very little training. Mostly, its just moving slowly and speaking softly, making soft repetitive sounds (which you do almost anyways). along with repeating things over and over. For example saying the name of the types of wood you collect THREE times so we can remember, and going over their grains, color and texture with more close ups.... example... "hickory, hickory, hickory... hardwood, hardwood, hardwood,... straight grain, straight grain, straight grain"... so the idea is to go even slower on some videos... show us WAY more close ups... show us exactly where to put the blade in the centre of the wood as you carefully split wood, go over it three times... Joe you are already do all these jobs of collecting, processing and building anyways, so by showing us YOU talking and then more CLOSE UPS THAT SHOW HOW YOU SEE THINGS IN GREATER DETAIL ALONG WITH REPEATING YOURSELF SLOWLY you create ASMR videos. Also think about the RHYTHM OF YOUR WORK,. Rhythms over and over are also very important in our work and lives. This idea of repeating slowly and softly all our chores is HOW CHILDREN LEARN TOO! So thats another cool idea as well.... to make videos that work for kids as well. Thank you for all your hard work and for sharing your love of nature! (PS some ASMR videos are strange so PLEASE dont get put off by their weirdness, there are also straight forward ones about cooking as well... its the idea of teaching us camping with patience and kindness that is your gift to us!) Peace!

I love your videos Joe. Your passion and knowledge of the outdoors is amazing. You get me fired up for my annual camping trip with my 3 brothers. Every year between March and May we go into the Adirondacks and hike into the woods and set up camp. Last year we just built a tent out of tarps which was fun but I bought a hammock tent for this year haha. Just being out there away from civilization is such a relaxing time. Chopping wood, building fires, hiking, fishing, exploring, cooking over the fire and sipping some suds...nothing better. Thanks for what you do Joe it's such a motivator watching you. 🤙

I've already seen your 10 days in the wilderness and I think everybody else who love your work has. So it's not that strange that a condensed video of the trip wouldn't make the same traction as the original episodes. Even though I'm going to watch it again someday because it was an amazing journey.

I enjoyed it ALL -- the doc was like an extended highlights piece and the individual episodes were super-detailed. good day Joe, after watching this video I thought I may tell you of some of my experiences using tracks on both ATVs and side-by-side's(Yamaha 450 grizzly and rhino 660) both units are loads of fun in the snow but perform poorly on unpacked snow. Better served on a pack trail and there is no issues. The depth of the snow is a major issue, as deep snow will leave you high sided and stuck on top of the snow. If you are blazing a new trail, a unit with tracks May not be the best choice. Not to be long-winded, I notice you have a fondness for butter. For winter camping that is not an issue, but for summer camping I would suggest you use a product named Ghee. It is just clarified butter that can be purchased at the market but does not need refrigeration. It's my choice for extended summer camping when keeping things cold is an issue. Have a great day, love your videos. Tony A

Love to see you just being you. I only noticed the background traffic once at the beginning. No big deal for me anyway. Bless your heart, Joe! You are such a sweetie. I don't think you should have to apologize for being with your family and taking care of things. Just my opinion. Thanks for the video. The Big Four: Sweetie, Woody, Boi and Bob the Builder.
