L.A. Guns Steve Riley Memorial

Ойын-сауық

We were very sorry to hear L.A. Guns Drummer Steve Riley recently passed. We have a great interview from the late drummer. He has a deep history in hard rock having played with so many rock and metal bands both in the studio and on the stage. Steve shares his story with us right here and only on 80s Metal Recycle Bin. RIP Steve Riley!!

❤ LOVED him! I played, once upon a time, long ago. Everyone says fairly the same thing, which solidifies what I have known since the early 1990s, which is that Steve Riley was a dear. He appreciated everyone. My Chicago's South Side pal, Chip Z'Nuff @EnuffZ'Nuff, Steve Riley, and I were good acquaintances, but more Riley and Chip, for being in the biz, and one being bass and the other being drums. This was our little clique. Riley, (Steven) Adler, Tracii (Guns) and I are Aquarius, & Tracii and I share a birth date. Riley, Adler and I are drummers, but they are/were more than I. Chip is a Virgo, and Virgos tend towards Aquarius for our nonchalant vibes, where Virgo is more concrete or statistical--opposites. Steve Riley's passing took away a drummer and an Aquarius from our little clique. There's one other of the clique, but he's a local WI musician. Riley liked being part of it, although it means nothing. It was just our little thing. Now I remember whose stick that is 😊 I have had a drumstick for years that I kept because someone gave it to me, but I couldn't recall who. I didn't have Riley sign it because, well, I am a drummer, and because of our little clique. Now the stick is back to meaning something to me, and the little clique. "It's Over Now" R.I.P., Riley 4:45 PM CST

Steve knew there was going to be some sort change, the peek. That was September 1991. Some like Steve welcome it, to improvise the career and reflect on those 10 whole years of the 80s. Nirvana really change everything that year of 1991. The underground alternative music exploded until 1999. It's 2023 and there is no Kurt, no Beatles, no WASP no Zepplin, no Elvis. Rock is dead.
