Did you guys really did a review about Kobo Glo HD without testing the Glo part?Are you guys kidding me here?

Actually still have one of these kicking around, still works great and yes they do have an sd inside which you can clone to a larger size sd for more space, currently have a 64gb in mine

Is the Kobo glow hd on Indigo priced with USD or CAD? Thank you. Is it based on the location?

Got mine today. Was wondering when there is a black screen" with connected and charging " message on it. Is normal to have a very thin line border on the right and bottom side of the screen?

What about newspaper subscriptions? It was available on the Touch. Can't find it on my Kobo Glo (I don't have Kobo Glo HD).

You can stick in a 128gb card if you want. You just need to clone the original card onto the new one. All the device has is a slot and they ship with with 4gb card. Obviously you have to open the device and fiddle with cloning software, but if you are that much determined to have tons of space it shouldn't be a problem. This won vs the kindle paperwhite for me because - 1) you can turn the damned light completely off. 2) Invert black/white is patched only once and it becomes real convenient. Not to mention i got it like 30$ cheaper than paperwhite kindle.

how does this device display footnotes? does it have popup footnotes when you click on a link?

Are you able make to comments within the books just like the kobo app? If not could you tell me which Kobo eReader does? That is the deal break for me.

Any idea why they discontinued the GLO HD?

I noticed that Glo HD doesn't have a light button compared to the other Kobo eReaders. How does the light turn off on this reader? Given the specs, it seems that Kobo is making the Glo HD has a cheaper clone to the Kindle Voyage.

Great review, if this makes it over here at a sensible price I'll probably replace my old Glo with one. Wish it had the SD card slot though it's not an absolute deal breaker.

No SD card slot? Internal SD card? What are they thinking? I can't imagine the rationale for this design change. There's an internal reader with the OS, so they've saved a slot in the frame and a mem chip internally. They've saved what, a buck? I'll stick to my Aura HD and look elsewhere when I want to upgrade it, I think.

Is it possible to install other reading apps (Nook, Kindle, Scribd, etc) out of the box? If not, can it be hacked to run Android or something?

Kobo Aura HD destekliyor. Yazılım üç aşağı beş yukarı aynı. Muhtemelen bu da destekliyordur. Hatta idefix'ten aldığım Türkçe kitapları, pdf dökümanları, Pocket'a kaydettiğim metinleri sorunsuz okuyabiliyorum. Bazı yazıtipleri sıkıntılı, ancak çoğu sorunsuz. Ayrıca istersen kendin de yazıtipleri ekleyebiliyorsun cihaza.

Also, are epub and other files drag and drop on this device? Like USB mass storage and done? no middleware? or is it kindle like were you have to use calibre or send it via mail and sutff like that?

No I don't want to. Calibre is a piece of shit and no device in 2015 should be using middleware anymore. Last question, Goodereader do you by any chance, know release dates in europe?

Gerard Umbert Here's a thought.. How about not insulting the Calibre software, something that progammers spent a lot of time making that's free for everyone to use. Or a even better idea, don't use it all.

coppertrial​​​​ it is still shit, efforts should never be rewarded unless a product is good. Calibre is the iTunes of books. Has a poor design, its slow on fast computers. It ends up as bad UX. Plus, its middelware. Not needed.

I am worried about the gloss band inside the bezel. It is reflecting a fair amount of the light from the camera or whichever light source is in this video, so if you're using the unit outside, I could imagine you could easily have sunlight reflected into your eyes according to which angle you hold the unit.

I got my Glo HD a few days ago. Is it just me, or the light is a little blotchy on the bottom? This is especially noticeable in low-light conditions

So I bought the Kobo Glo HD. What's up with the screen glitching? It's also visible in this vid, so presumably this is feature. It's really horrable!

It is not glitching, it is refreshing of the e-ink screen. Without it your screen will be full of marks and will soon become unreadable. E-ink has some pay-offs at the moment but has the advantage of being eye-friendly and long battery time.

I did not learn anything I still have no idea how to work my Kobo Glo

ola You could download Calibre from the internet, plug your Kobo into your PC and then click on the little e-reader icon and it will show you all of the books on your device, highlight and remove the books you don't want anymore

wtf??? this is not an upgrade over aura. Sure the screen might be a bit better but that about it design wise it's a step backwards i loved the flat front screen of the aura it was an awsome design this one is just....ugh ugly. And no micro sd slot??? wtf were they thinking? it was one of the biggest selling points of kobo thats why i picked aura over paperwhite no way in hell i'm upgrading to this shit from my aura. Such a shame kobo used to make the best e-readers in the past and imo the only company that gave a true alternative to kindle.

I agree. I kept my aura as I couldn't use a device with a recessed screen. For me it ruins the whole reading experience. My friend has this and we have compared the aura to it and I personally can't notice much of a difference. In fact I preferred my aura.

Yet another dull black ereader. When the majority of ereader devices have the same specs and size, why do they insist on the same bland black shell or is it because of this?

tachikoma10101011 As far as shells are concerned, I'd like to see: 1) A perfectly flush surface on the business side of things. I hadn't noticed it much before, but depending on the external illumination, there are some nasty shadows around the edge of the screen. 2) Making the flush bezel the same background colour as the active page. This would allow you to make the active portion of the page borderless and show as much text as possible, but still have a comfortable non-active border. Some issues with self-illuminated displays maybe, but you could foresee a situation where the whole of the upper surface is made of eInk but it's only important for the inner area to be defect-free and active 3) More grip! Stop trying to make them thinner, favour more battery life and a thicker, easier-to-grip rubberised back / sides - who cares if the back and sides show fingerprints?

Sean Inglis +1 on the grip, plus more battery and I find the thickness of my Nook ST and its cover comfortable. At this point I'd never buy an ereader with less then a month~ of battery life.

tachikoma10101011 I find a standard paperback thickness very comfortable, but that's maybe years of paperbacks. I'm sure you could do some interesting things in the extra thickness
