Good luck. Kobo inexplicably discontinued the Glo HD in favor of the new Aura Edition 2 with a lower resolution screen.

Which one between this Kobo and the Paperwhite2? Need to choose one for my birthday... Your recommendations?

The PRS T3 got rid of the page refreash basically for normal reading.. Both the latest kindle and this one still have refresh every couple of pages.. Why can't they get rid of it?

Hey, what are the translation capabilities of the Kobo Glo HD? My first language is not english, so I would like to translate any word that I don΄t understand. Is it easy? Does the Kobo Glo HD offer easy translation from English to (for example) Greek, my first language? And must I have a wifi connection to do the translation or not?

Do you happen to know how to put kobo to landscape mode? That remove header footer is a good one, Do you know how to code landscape too? *Sorry, I'm not good with those kind of stuffs T^T

my wife has never shown interest in e-reader but I want her to try one as she loves reading. Is this a good choice for a person that loves books over reading from a screen? I wanted the one but is not in stock :/ I like that Kobo reads more formats like epub compared to Kindle. thanks

Kobo inexplicably discontinued the Glo HD. Unless your wife already has a bunch of ePubs you'd be better off getting a Kindle Paperwhite while they're on sale.

The eBook Reader we don't have any but finding on-line epubs seems easy and I like having that extra option. I wanted the ONE but can't find it in stock. Also thought the overdrive feature could be interesting. Very confused here lol

Hi! Can you please explain how we can convert epub into kobo's epub. I have converted it through calibre through a plugin but when I transfer the file in my Glo HD, it doesn't appear.

Ritika Dhamija You can find all the info about it at MobileRead, either in the Kobo forum or the Calibre forum. I mostly only convert the other way around.

Being able to transfer pdf files on SD card-- amazing... files transferable between multiple tablets!

how does this device display footnotes? does it have popup footnotes when you click on a link?

+Kevin Nicolli Cunanan No pop-up. They are just links that take you to the footnote, which doesn't always work well on Kobos. Kindles have the popup that works much better.

Why does it blink every time you choose something, settings etc? Is that normal? Can you disable it? Thanks

It's because it's an e-ink screen. It has to redraw everything.

Are there any bad things about this ereader?

what do you think about the kobo aura HD? i don't know if i must upgrade it to the kobo glo HD

Astrid van hal Adding an extra 35 ppi and removing the memory card slot isn't something I'd really consider an upgrade. Otherwise they are pretty much identical, aside from the screen size of course.

The eBook Reader i dont see any differents in sharpness but what about the pageturning and reaction? aren't they faster on carta?

Astrid van hal There's no noticeable difference in performance, just slightly better contrast. Mostly Carta is just a marketing tactic to get people to think they need to upgrade, same with 300 ppi screens. The Kobo Aura HD still has one of the best-looking displays on the market. The screen is the last reason to upgrade it.

How can i translate? I didnt see

new to ereaders i usually buy books from the book store or google play from ny android is there a way to get my google play books on to the ereader

+Angel Cody Yeah you just have to download them from Google to a computer and use Adobe Digital Editions to transfer them to the Kobo ereader.

Nice reviews but you don't talk about dictionary option. This device seems to have a very bad dictionary feature. How come in lots of e-reader the dictionary definition is to short and the font is very small? It would be intelligent if we could set an option for when you long press on a word you could see the definition right away in the dictionary so you could check the full meaning of a word and look for other words before and after like a paper dictionary. Or, at lest, have few dictionaries results like : english-english and expressions with the word. It would be good to be able to search for a translation of phases or paragraph. Maybe the expensive Voyage Kindle reader can do a tiny bit of those things but I don't understand why I don't see readers complaining about dictionaries options. Some persons make some kinds of plugins for those devices to add functionalities but of those is about dictionaries.

Thanks, I appreciate the first link. I have a Kindle 3 Keyboard and nothing about something like this came to my knowledge. Maybe the developers have access to some kobo codes that they don't with the old Kindle readers. I really like my Kindle 3 so it is sad I cannot have better dictionary options. I knew for the several dictionaries existence but I thing that to use some at the same time I'll have to make a blend of those.

No SD card. Enough said; moving on.

yes sd card, just has to be opened and the data transfered to the new one.
