You have to do a software update on the H20. You're missing options in Reading Settings.

I've recently bought a Kobo Aura H2O, and i'm loving it, very good e-Reader and i can use it in the pool without worries. (And i was happy to discover that it also opens .mobi files)

Fonts don't get as big on both devices, perhaps you didn't adjust the font size also under the Advanced section? BTW do they have the same CPU? I'm pretty disappointed that they have no SD slot on the new eReader.

Do they have the same version of software? Seems to me that the newer Kobo has a newer software becoz of the new options on how to flip over a page. Would love to hear from you.

Guys... im probably wrong somehow but I bought the Kobo Aura H20 today and I was extremely surprised and delighted to discover that pinch and zoom DOES WORK in pdfs. Possibly due to a software update? (It updated itself when I turned it on the first time). I am so happy I went with this one because of the bigger screen.

Great video! Helped a lot, I think I'm going for the Glo HD. I missed the chance to buy a Kobo Aura HD which sold in limited edition last summer and I've been waiting for it to maybe come back this summer, but no luck so far. Would you happen to know anything about that? :)

Hello, I am purchasing a Kobo for my father who is visually impaired who is moving from an older Nook tablet. He will need as large a font size as possible and his current tablet is a 7" screen with large fonts which get big enough so that only about 12 - 15 words appear on the screen. I notice in your review that the largest font size on the Glo HD seemed much bigger than that of the Aura H20. The Glo fonts go big enough to only have about 5 words per page (see about 7 minutes into your video). Do you know if that's still true? When I called Kobo tech support I got two answers; one rep said that the Aura H20 font size could be adjusted to show about four words per page, that seems very different from what your demonstration showed. I called them back and another rep said that the H20 can't get as big as it can on Glo HD after I showed them a screen shot from your video. Can anyone confirm that the Aura H20 still can't get font sizes as large as the Glo HD? That seems strange.

I wonder, it the pinch to zoom gesture on the Glo HD is a software or also a hardware solution. New or different IR sensors? But if this is just a software solution, I would really like this gesture as a software update on my H2O. Goodereaders, many thanks for your great videos and many greetings to you all from Deutschland! 👍👏😃

Goodereader Thanks for you short answer, but you already answered my question in your article:[...] These two readers actually have a fair bit in common when it comes down to the specs on paper. The Kobo Aura H2O features a 6.8 inch e-ink Carta touchscreen display with a resolution of 1430×1080 and 265 PPI. One of the drawbacks is that it uses Infrared technology, which means you cannot pinch and zoom. This model does have an SD card, that is actually hidden from view when you close the waterproof flap on the bottom. Meanwhile the Kobo Glo HD features a six inch e-ink Carta screen with a resolution of 1448×1072 and 300 PPI. This device has capacitive touch, which will allow you to pinch and zoom PDF documents, which is very useful. [...] Link: goodereader.com/blog/electronic-readers/kobo-h2o-vs-kobo-glo-hd-full-comparison No future software update with the pinch to zoom gesture for my H2O. Anyway, I seldom read PDFs on my H2O, since I use a tablet instead.

Yes,Lonely Table, with the new firmware 3.15.0 update , you can use the pinch to zoom gesture with PDFs or comic books. You have to switch the water detection before. Link: goodereader.com/blog/electronic-readers/kobo-h2o-e-reader-gets-pinch-and-zoom-functionality

Carolina Rodrigues I love the Voyage but not at $199 with ads, I hesitated but ultimately returned it not because it sucked but because at $199, it's simply not worth it over my PW2 for being "marginally" better. I also hated the way it rendered the Palatino font compared to the PW2. I'd consider it maybe at $149 without ads of course..

Yes it can, i'm really glad Kobo is stepping up and offering a competitive alternative for an amazing price, it just goes to show how over-priced Amazon is offering the Voyage which still doesn't have the standard Georgia and Times new roman fonts, so annoying..

While not articulated particularly clearly I'd say, especially with the advantage of another year of observation available that clearly Kobo is only improving their screen tech. The reader itself is becoming less robust. Making a slate with a fixed amount of RAM with no expansion slot (despite being larger than most if not all competitors) limits the newer units utility compared to the older models. I've been finally looking for an ereader now that the display tech doesn't make me feel like I'm reading from an etch-a-sketch. But I've been reading on tablets with active displays that have expansion slots - I can store virtually as much as I care to and lug it around. I don't like being tethered to the internet to enable functionality. But then, I've read on the very first ebook readers, before they were cool. Before Amazon. Before tablets and smartphones. And no I don't think 8gb is adequate for storage. If you do more power to you. I'm not one to be satisfied with less. I'd love to get one of the 9.7" readers that run Android so I can use Moon+ but I understand they all stink, more or less. So I'll probably get the H2O and make the best of it before they stop making them. As long as it can read epub and mobi and looks 'close' to paper I guess I'll be satisfied. Not happy, but at least I'll have something that has better battery life than my 12" Galaxy Tab I read with now - looks great and a nice way to read PDF files but the battery only lasts a day.
